However, this light version seems just right, so I find myself reaching for it often. It provides long-lasting hydration and doesn't cause any blemishes on my face, which I'm really satisfied with.
ConsI recommend applying it in the evening, as it might cause pilling if used before makeup.

In summer, I apply a small amount of cream as a finishing touch after a hydrating essence. First time using Real Barrier products Real Barrier cream texture feels quite rich, might be heavy for summer use. The light cream is a bit lighter. When that time of the month approaches, acne explodes on my forehead and chin No effect on blemishes However, when applied as evening skincare on red and inflamed skin, I notice it calms down by the next day Effective for both deep and surface dryness due to its hydration + rich feel A cream I look forward to using during seasonal transitions
ConsDoesn't have the feel of a lightweight moisturizer. When using hydrating products in earlier skincare steps, makeup tends to pill slightly. Might feel sticky for oily skin types in summer Seems more effective for redness and sensitive skin rather than calming blemishes
TipFor night care, apply a potent hydrating essence or ampoule, then layer on a thick coat of this cream for plump, moisturized skin the next day A moisture barrier cream.

There's also a slight cooling effect when you apply it. On a sweltering hot day during Chuseok, this product did a great job of calming the heat on my face from running around everywhere. I was really satisfied with how quickly it soothed my skin without any irritation. For combination skin types like mine who hate feeling stuffy, this seems perfect for soothing care during seasonal changes or summer.
ConsIf you don't make sure it's fully absorbed, pilling can occur. A few hours after applying, I lightly scratched my face and it came off in white flakes like dead skin cells. Also, the jar packaging was inconvenient for me. I actually ended up using the tube version that came with it more often.

I remember buying the Extreme Original(?) before because it was popular, but it didn't suit me. This one is much lighter and I like it. The original was so thick that applying it felt irritating, but this one is definitely lighter (though not as light as a soothing cream). It does have a bit of a rich feel. The scent is similar to the Extreme Cream, and while I didn't particularly dislike it, it might be polarizing for some. My skin barrier seemed completely broken, so I changed my cleansing products, stopped using functional serums and ampoules, and focused on hydration, but didn't see much effect. However, I think I saw results after applying this. First, I had small, bumpy textures all over my face, but even after just a day or two of use, they noticeably decreased, especially in the butterfly zone where the texture was particularly bad! (However, this doesn't last forever, and if I wear makeup all day, the bumpy texture comes back) I liked how applying it before bed made the texture go down and my skin felt completely smooth (though it did produce a lot of oil).
ConsIf you apply this before makeup, it really pills like crazy... I thought it might be okay since it didn't feel heavy, but I was shocked at how badly it pilled (photo attached). I usually apply cushion foundation with a patting motion, but even when I tried applying it without patting, it still pilled a bit..! I think this should only be used at night. Also, I have combination dehydrated skin so my T-zone and butterfly zone are naturally oily, but I noticed much more oil production compared to when I use a soothing cream. In the morning, it's really oily... I think it might be difficult for those with oily skin to use. I'm not 100% sure if it's because of this, but it seems like I'm getting some blemishes due to the excess oil. I think it needs some amount control.
TipI recommend applying this before bed since it can pill if used before makeup! Especially for me, I noticed some blemishes appearing, possibly due to excess oil in my T-zone and butterfly zone. For those with combination dehydrated or oily skin, it might be better to control the amount rather than applying too much!

The Real Barrier line was actually recommended by the clinic (oriental medicine) I'm currently visiting, so I felt confident using it without a patch test. The texture is rich but not too oily, allowing me to apply it right after toner. It's lighter than the Real Barrier Classic Cream, making it perfect for summer use. The absorption is excellent, and I really enjoyed the scent when applying it.
ConsWhen I tried to apply a second layer, I noticed some pilling. It doesn't seem suitable for heavy application. Also, the container isn't a tube type, which made it a bit inconvenient to use.
TipFor daytime use with other products, apply it lightly. In the evening, when using it as a mask, apply one layer first, then gently pat on a second layer. Its low oil content makes it especially great for summer use.

Once it's absorbed, my skin feels moisturized and fresh. For those with dry skin, I think using the original in fall and winter, and the light version in spring and summer would work well. For oily skin types, the light version should be suitable year-round. Honestly, I'm not sure if I can feel the skin barrier protection, but even though I have sensitive skin, it's not irritating, so I think I can use it without worry.
ConsAlthough it's supposed to work well under makeup, I think it depends on what cosmetics you use. In my experience, it pills like dead skin cells. It's not so much that the moisturizer itself pills, but rather the makeup applied on top of it... Since I'm using the same makeup products I always do, I'm certain it's this cream causing the pilling.
TipI think it would be fine to use without worry in summer. For those with dry skin who might experience some deep dryness, mixing in a drop of face oil when applying can prevent dryness.

It's a brand I can recommend to friends and family without a second thought. I've been using the original version for about 8 years because it helps with the skin barrier. While the original was a bit rich for me and sometimes caused blemishes, this lighter version is much better. There's no unpleasant scent, and it absorbs well. Its quick absorption means it doesn't pill under makeup, making it great for pre-makeup application. As someone who loves a dewy look, I'm thrilled with how plump and healthy it makes my skin appear.
ConsThe tube packaging is more hygienic, which is a plus. However, if it's not fully absorbed or if you apply too much, it can pill when you put on makeup. You need to be careful with the amount, so I'm hesitant to use it before important events where I need to wear makeup. It's a bit of a gamble. This is a common issue with Real Barrier creams, so I'd recommend using it at night rather than before applying makeup.

First off, I love that it comes in a tube. The texture is like soft tofu - firm yet gentle, and it applies smoothly leaving my skin feeling hydrated and supple. It's fragrance-free and doesn't contain any harmful ingredients, so I'm really enjoying using it on my face and neck. It's light enough for morning use and perfect for nighttime too. The only downside is that the amount isn't very generous, so I might use it up quickly.
ConsOne slight disappointment is that while it spreads easily, it tends to pill a bit. The tube opening is also quite large, so you need to be careful with how much you dispense. It's best to squeeze out a small amount and apply it twice for better absorption. If you apply too much at once, it will definitely pill. Applying just one layer can leave the skin feeling a bit dry. Since my skin tends to be on the drier side, I usually mix it with oil, but it doesn't blend well with oils so I had to apply them separately.

It spreads easily with just a small amount, and even if you apply more, it doesn't leave any sticky or slippery residue.
ConsI'm not sure how long the moisturizing effect lasts. If you don't control the amount well, it can cause your sunscreen to pill. When applied to sensitive skin, it can cause a severe burning sensation. Looking at the ingredients list, I noticed it contains corn mint oil. I thought this was a brand for sensitive skin, so why on earth is there mint?
TipSince it spreads widely with a small amount, apply it gradually in thin layers, allowing each layer to absorb, rather than applying a lot at once.
