It provides excellent hydration and keeps my skin moisturized for a long time. I love that it comes in a generous size. The paper packaging makes me feel good about contributing to environmental protection, even if just a little. There's absolutely nothing to complain about. Nothing at all. Not a single thing. - wl*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 19, 2024
My lips are super sensitive, so I can't use just any lip balm, but this one works wonders! It's so effective, it feels like medicine. When I apply it to cracked or chapped lips, they're usually much better by the next day. For me, this is an absolute must-have in my beauty routine! What could be both a pro and a con is that it's a zero-waste product in paper packaging. I started using it because of the eco-friendly container, but carrying it around might be inconvenient at first as the packaging can get worn or be tricky to push up. When my lips are chapped or the corners of my mouth are cracked, I slather this on before bed and wake up to much-improved skin. It's not just great for lips - it also works wonders on dry, itchy skin or areas with dead skin cells! - gk********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsRecommendedApr 11, 2024
• Melts gently and absorbs into dry skin, creating a protective layer • Vegan balm suitable for both adults and children • Versatile - can be used on lips, hands, feet, and any dry areas • Now available for purchase on Hwahae (previously only listed other retailers) I've always had dry lips, especially in fall and winter when I'd peel the skin. About 4 years ago, it got so bad my lips looked wrinkled. A friend suggested applying lip balm frequently throughout the day. After consistently using it for a year, my lips improved significantly - they looked normal with just lip balm. However, if I didn't apply balm for even 30 minutes to an hour when my lips felt slightly dry, dead skin cells would appear instantly. I went through a tube of lip balm monthly for years. In fall and winter, I'd end up peeling off the dead skin if I forgot to apply balm for a short while. While there was some improvement, it felt like I hit a plateau. But with Monage's Comfortable Balm, my lips have completely recovered and become much easier to manage. Typical stick lip balms are 3.5-4.25g, while Monage Multi Balm is 11-12g. So even though it seems pricey, the quantity makes it reasonable. I've tried all 3 types of Monage Multi Balm before it was sold on Hwahae: The Daily Balm is firmer, applies in a thinner layer, and feels lightweight. The Comfortable Balm applies smoothly and feels like it creates an oil barrier. When applied to lips, fingertips, cuticles, elbows, or dry patches on calves, the Comfortable Balm melts in, absorbs, and coats the skin, making it soft and supple. Using the Comfortable Balm on lips doesn't completely prevent dead skin cells, but it reduces their formation. The texture is softer and easier to gently remove without causing bleeding. Recently, the bottom part was redesigned to be more stable when pushed up, making it easier to use. The texture also seems even smoother than before. Note: With the redesign, while the inner container length remains the same, the outer printed part is slightly shorter, giving it a cuter overall appearance. Unlike regular lip balms and lipsticks, I appreciate that the Monage Multi Balm can be used completely to the end. The entire container is made of paper, so with use, you can see it getting pressed, absorbing oil, and wearing out. Instead of twisting to raise the product, you push it up from the bottom with your finger, which can be inconvenient for some users. Previously, it was only available online or in zero-waste shops, mostly located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. These shops were often difficult for regular customers to access or unfamiliar, limiting its availability. However, it's now being sold on Hwahae and is available for online purchase at Lotte Duty Free, which is great as the number of retailers seems to be increasing. • If the balm doesn't go back down after pushing it up: ➡️ Gently tap the bottom of the Multi Balm on a surface. It will gradually go down with repeated use. If this is inconvenient when you're out, try pressing the balm firmly against your lips or skin at the end of each use. • When first using, the center may be concave and the edges dry and crumbly, not melting well: ➡️ You can slightly melt the edges as you would singe a loose thread with a lighter. Note that sensitive users might briefly notice a slight burning or gas smell. • If you're using the pre-redesign Comfortable Balm and feel grainy particles or uneven application: ➡️ This can happen due to high content of cocoa seed butter, shea butter, and oils. The best solution is to remelt and re-solidify the balm, though it might be a bit troublesome. Use a mini beaker if available, or a paper soju cup or straight whiskey glass. Break the balm into pieces, microwave while watching it melt, and stir. Don't microwave the whole balm at once. Take it out when it's mostly melted but some parts remain solid, then stir to let the residual heat melt it completely. Pour back into the container for a smooth, moisturizing texture. The Multi Balm's large size means you can pour leftovers into smaller lipstick or lip balm containers for better portability. - tl*******Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMar 17, 2024
1. Absorbs well: It seems to have much better absorption than the product I used before. It's not stiff, but melts smoothly with body temperature and absorbs into the skin without clumping or forming lumps, applying evenly (see photo taken right after application). 2. Long-lasting: When applied to the back of my hand, it remains unchanged even after an hour. So when I apply it to dry areas on my face at night for moisture retention, it prevents tightness until the next day and helps maintain the previous skincare steps (see photo taken after 1 hour). 3. Transfer-resistant: Of course, being a balm type, there is some transfer, but even when intentionally wiped with the palm, the part that has melted and absorbed into the skin remains. (See photo after wiping with hand). 4. Hygienic: It's a soft oil balm in a stick form, so you can apply it without touching it with your hands, which is a great feature! When this product was first released, although it was good for protecting the skin barrier and had great moisturizing and soothing effects, I couldn't repurchase it due to the inconvenience of the packaging. I remember the paper packaging dissolving and becoming mushy towards the end, making it stiff and requiring a spatula to use. But now, receiving this improved paper packaging that applies so smoothly is fantastic. The product efficacy remains excellent even after the renewal. Among balm-type products, it settles comfortably on the skin with superior lasting power and hydration. There's no off-putting scent or colorants. I'm also satisfied with the minimal, safe ingredients. It fits nicely in one hand, making it convenient to carry around. Hmm, this time I really can't find anything to complain about. The push-up mechanism works much better than before, it doesn't melt into the paper, and it pushes up just the right amount. It seems like you'll be able to use it all up without any waste, even more so than with plastic twist-up packaging. I'm not sure about other Raum balms or Daily balms, but I'm extremely satisfied with this Comfortable balm. Apply a small amount by gently pushing up 4-5mm at a time. You can push it up slightly every few days, and the long cap ensures it closes properly. It's great for areas where skin is bumpy, sensitive, or dry and stings when applying skincare, or after exfoliation. It's also suitable for atopic skin, reddened sensitive skin, and especially after exposure to cold wind - it maintains moisture without stinging! Just apply it to your lips twice before bed, and the moisture lasts until the next day. Simply apply it with a gentle gliding motion (see last photo). I had atopic skin on my cheeks since childhood, which would become bumpy when exposed to hair product residue or external irritants. After using this for a few days, it improved significantly (see fourth photo - before and after comparison of cheek area). Glow base tip - As shown in the third photo, use it as a multi-balm for an inner glow before your base makeup. When you apply cushion foundation over it, you can achieve a subtle glow and a clear complexion. - ym*******Oily SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMar 6, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

As someone with super sensitive skin, I was thrilled to discover it's a vegan product. The fact that it's made with 100% naturally-derived ingredients was incredibly satisfying for me. While I appreciate the eco-friendly paper packaging, it does tend to get dirty rather quickly. - ca*************Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresMar 5, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

Its lightweight formula makes it comfortable to apply even before meals. The paper packaging seems environmentally friendly, which is a plus. As mentioned earlier, the paper packaging makes it inconvenient to use since it's not twist-up. After application, I wanted to retract the balm before closing the cap, but that wasn't possible. I had to be careful not to damage the balm when closing it, which slowed down the process. Also, being a new product, the center is hollowed out with raised edges, making it awkward to use as a lip balm. When I tried using the outer part, the balm started breaking into pieces. - le*******Combination SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMar 5, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

With winter making my skin dry and super sensitive, I was worried about the dead skin cells appearing around my lips. But after applying this balm, it significantly reduced the flakiness! I was a bit scared to apply it all over my face in case it caused blemishes, so I used it on the back of my hands and around my lips! The scent is a familiar unscented lip balm fragrance that didn't bother me, even though I'm sensitive to smells :) Above all, everyone... isn't the lip balm case absolutely gorgeous? When I used it while out and about, my friends kept complimenting how pretty the case is! Although it's a bit pricey, this multi-balm that considers both the environment and skin care... I definitely recommend it! The paper packaging was fine until I accidentally pushed it up once, and no matter how much I tried, it wouldn't go back down. Eventually, the tip got all mushed up... I think this might be the biggest drawback in my opinion. When I asked my friends and considered it myself, the price does seem a bit high, which is somewhat disappointing. - ju*********Dry SkinSensitive SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedMar 4, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

I've been using it like a spot sleeping mask. I always used to wake up with tightness around my mouth and cheekbones. I applied it to those areas every night, and while it still felt tight at first, I tried applying it more generously. To my surprise, the tightness completely disappeared, and my skin felt incredibly smooth. It was a game-changer! It's a bit inconvenient that once you squeeze the product out, you have to manually push it back down. I noticed it leaks slightly every time I close it. Also, since it's in paper packaging, I feel like I need to use it up quickly, which is a bit disappointing. Apply it generously to areas that feel tight before sleeping, and you'll experience a whole new level of comfort. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 4, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

The deep blue color was also very pretty. Soothing: At some point, I started getting contact dermatitis around my lips when using lip products incorrectly, but I'm so happy that it didn't recur at all while using this! Thanks to this, I was able to use other lip products freely as well! Hydration: It doesn't feel heavy when applied and absorbs quickly, making it comfortable to use. Vegan: I used it with peace of mind knowing it's vegan. Oiliness: While those with dry skin could use it freely, I couldn't use it on my face due to my extremely oily skin. Scent: The decisive reason for deducting one star! The subtle paper-like and artificial scent made me hesitant to apply it at first. Container: Since it's made of paper, the lid part became a bit frayed, and when the slightly melted product from body heat touched the paper, it felt like it was being absorbed a little. Try using it when bleaching your eyebrows! The tingling sensation goes away quickly. - gk**********Normal SkinMar 4, 2024Reviewed by The Hwahae Testers

It's been a while since I last checked in. Back in my college days, I had more time to write reviews even with fewer products. Now, with my job, I use so many products but barely have time to write about them! Anyway, enough small talk - let's dive into this review! This product is quite ironic - its strengths can be weaknesses, and its weaknesses can be strengths. Let's start with the positives: 1. They've used eco-friendly paper packaging. Great initiative! 2. The wax-based formula makes it glide on smoothly. 3. As mentioned on their website, it's as moisturizing as it is shimmery. 4. Being in a solid balm form means less mess on your hands after application. 5. The blue packaging with the big whale is adorable, and the concept is fantastic. 6. The price point in the $12 range seems somewhat reasonable... I guess? Now for the downsides, which ironically mirror the positives: 1. The paper packaging can be inconvenient. Especially without a dial, manually pushing it up and down is a bit of a hassle. 2. While it applies smoothly, the product tends to crumble easily. Bits falling off feels wasteful, and with the paper packaging, it's particularly irritating when it happens while opening and closing! 3. While it's moisturizing, it's due to oil-friendly ingredients rather than water-friendly ones. So instead of a dewy glow, you get more of an oily sheen. Let's call it a 'glossy glow' to be nice. 4. Though it's a no-mess balm container, you still end up using your hands due to the crumbly bits. 5. The packaging is cute, but... conventional lip balms are prettier. And I kid you not, when I first got it, it reminded me of those sparklers we played with as kids! 6. As a researcher, I have to say... $12 for 10g is... well... For a pro tip, I'm not sure what to suggest. Oh, in case anyone's curious where I'm using this product - I've been applying it to my cracked heels! I used to use a panthenol cream, but I've switched to this. And while it might seem random, most balm products are pricey, but the market price for balm formulations is generally quite high. If you're looking for cost-effective skincare, I'd recommend regular tube products! As a researcher, I probably shouldn't say this, but... most cosmetics are pretty similar. As long as you avoid truly bad products, they're all more or less the same. Just check the ingredients, and if they look okay, go for the cheaper option!
