A quick swipe leaves your skin feeling powdery smooth, like you've just applied a primer.
ConsApplying multiple layers can cause it to pill up like dead skin cells, so it's best to keep it light with just one or two gentle touches. It can feel drying on dry skin types. The texture is hard like a candle or crayon, especially when first used. The edges can be quite sharp, causing bits to flake off and clump when applied. To minimize irritation, it's necessary to smooth out the surface by rubbing it vigorously on your arm, hand, or a tissue to round off the edges before use.
TipWith my combination dehydrated skin, I'm using this mattifying sunstick on my T-zone while pairing it with a hydrating sunstick on my cheeks.

It leaves a matte finish that feels like you're not wearing anything at all.
ConsWhere do I even begin? Let's start with the positives. Yes, it does have a powdery finish, but for my oily skin, it still feels a bit greasy. My dry-skinned sister, on the other hand, finds it too matte and barely noticeable, but she's using it happily. Now, it doesn't play well with my emulsion. I use Es*ee moisturizer, and even if I apply this sunstick long after, it pills terribly - like, to the point where I can't even use it. It was fine with other creams though (like Mi*in Cica Cream). I could have overlooked the pilling, chalking it up to the nature of sunsticks, and that alone wouldn't warrant a one-star review. The main reason for the low rating is this: I had been using it well, repurchased in March, and started using it again. I'd stopped before due to the pilling, but it never irritated my skin or caused breakouts. I even finished a whole stick. I decided to give it another go in March because my other sunscreen was too sticky. Now, I walk my dog daily, and suddenly, every time I was exposed to sunlight, my face would break out in itchy, mosquito-bite-like bumps. The itching was unbearable - I'd scratch so much that my face would get wounded and sting when I washed it. One day I stayed in, and it didn't happen, so I looked up the symptoms - they matched sun allergy perfectly. My mom had suffered from sun allergy for years, so I assumed that's what it was and kept using the sunstick. But then my mom, who had also used this sunstick, broke out in 10 pimples after just one day of use and stopped immediately. She suggested it might be the sunstick, so I tried a sample of a different sunscreen - and guess what? No reaction, even in full sun exposure. I'd heard that a once-loved cosmetic product can become your worst enemy if your skin condition changes, but I never expected this. Unlike my mom, I didn't get covered in acne, but my whole face would get itchy and red. If the product hasn't been reformulated, it might just be my skin, but seeing that it didn't work for my mom either, I'd caution those with sensitive skin to be very careful with this. Between the pilling and this reaction, I can't use it before makeup at all. I've got two sticks left that I'll use on my body instead. At least I'm relieved it's the product and not actual sun allergy.
TipI strongly recommend that those with sensitive skin do a patch test before purchasing.

If you have oily skin, apply this as the final step after a simple skincare routine. You don't need to pat it in separately after applying the sun stick.
ConsOccasionally, pilling occurs after applying skincare products. If you don't let your skincare absorb properly or if you apply too much before using the sun stick, it can pill up like dead skin cells.
TipIn the morning, I recommend applying this as the final step after a simple skincare routine. Then, about 5 hours later, gently blot away excess oil with blotting paper and reapply.

As the days heated up, I switched to a lightweight, moisturizer-like sunscreen, but the oil that came through in the afternoon... ugh! I had tried a sun stick once a long time ago and never used one again, but this product addressed those drawbacks while still feeling light on the skin, which I loved. The sun stick I used before left visible marks on my face, so I had to pat it in with my fingers to blend it. I couldn't see the benefits of using a sun stick then, but with this product, I wondered if I had even applied it! There were no visible lines, and I could feel my skin becoming smooth and silky right after application. The matte finish was a bonus! It was also easy to reapply, and being small and lightweight made it convenient to carry around.
ConsThere weren't really any downsides, but if I had to nitpick, I noticed a few times when looking in the mirror that it had pilled up like dirt. Interestingly, I didn't feel this at all when applying. I'm not sure if it's because it dries out and flakes off like dead skin cells...?

When I first tried this one, I was impressed by its incredibly smooth application and how it immediately controlled oil while leaving my skin feeling fresh. The dial mechanism made it much easier to control the amount, and I loved the clean design of the case. It's perfect for applying lightly after skincare and before makeup, offering a subtle blurring effect and pore coverage that works like a primer. I'm extremely satisfied with its performance.
ConsWhile there weren't any major drawbacks, I noticed some slight pilling and clumping when reapplying over areas where oil had built up throughout the day.

As someone with sensitive skin, I often experience blemishes when using sunscreen, sometimes relying on cushion foundation for sun protection. However, the biggest advantage of this sun stick is that it doesn't cause any blemishes at all. The sun stick has a slightly firm texture, but it doesn't crumble even when applied with a bit of pressure. Its oval-rectangular shape makes it easier to apply in narrow areas like the sides of the nose compared to round sun sticks. True to its name as a 'powdery sun stick', it also controls oil well. After applying my skincare routine of toner pad, essence, and cream, I used this sun stick. While initially I could feel the moisture and richness typical of skincare products, once I applied the sun stick, it felt like everything was neatly set in place. Even after applying cushion foundation, there was minimal lifting, and my skin remained powdery smooth. What I appreciated most about this product was not just how well it worked on my face, but also how thoroughly I could apply it to my neck. While sun protection is crucial year-round, it's especially important in summer. I absolutely avoid sticky products due to sweat... But this product leaves no stickiness at all after application. Instead, it creates a powdery finish, making it perfect for use on areas like the neck and arms. The fact that it didn't cause blemishes, had a comfortable feel, and could be applied to the neck without discomfort were major advantages for me. Once I've used up this Hwahae Testers sample, I plan to purchase it with my own money.
ConsIf you don't have a solid skincare base, it might feel dry rather than just powdery, so that's something to be mindful of. However, if you apply too much skincare, it might cause pilling. Regardless of the product, if you don't allow each skincare step to absorb properly before moving on to the next, it'll be hard to achieve the desired effects.

I hope this review helps those with similar skin types! What I love about this product: • A non-drying, velvety finish • Non-sticky after application • Sleek design • Great portability • Excellent for body use too The most surprising aspect of this product was its texture. There are many products on the market labeled as 'velvety' or 'fresh,' but when you actually use them, they often feel more drying than velvety. However, Unique's sun stick is truly velvety - exactly what you'd expect! It feels like you've applied your skincare, base makeup, and then gently pressed powder all over your face with a puff. It maintains that freshly-applied makeup feel, with the hydration from your skincare still intact, but with an added powder-like finish! The texture was so fascinating that I kept touching my face. It really seems like a product designed to target summer skincare needs. I love that it's velvety without being drying, making it perfect for regular use. It's also great for body application - the stick format makes it easy to cover larger areas, and its pleasant velvety finish means you can use it on areas prone to sweat rashes without worry. I absolutely love it!
ConsIf you apply too much, it can pill slightly like dead skin. For those with dry skin, you might feel some tightness after a while in seasons other than summer. However, it should be suitable year-round for those with oily skin.
TipIt's great for foundation-free makeup as it creates a velvety finish that prevents hair from sticking to your face!

This clever design allows you to cover your entire cheek area in one swipe, reducing skin irritation by minimizing the need for multiple applications. ✔️ Finish True to its name, it leaves a wonderfully matte finish. After application, your skin feels as smooth as if you've applied powder. It even seems to blur pores slightly, making it a great pre-makeup step for evening out skin texture.
Cons✔️ No Other Drawbacks Personally, I didn't notice any downsides. As someone who doesn't wear much makeup, I found it convenient for frequent reapplication. However, if applied over makeup, it might cause some pilling, as is typical with stick-type products.

It's especially recommended for combination to oily skin. It's excellent at controlling excess oil production - you might not even need other oil-control products in your routine. I was impressed that even after a nap, there was no shine. When my skin wasn't too dry, it didn't cause that white, flaky residue around the mouth that some sunscreens can leave. The fact that it's fragrance-free and has a refillable container are definite pluses. True to sunstick form, it glides on smoothly. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a matte finish, except those with very dry skin!
ConsIf your skincare routine is inadequate or too heavy, you might experience some pilling or flaking after makeup application. It's crucial to apply at least toner and emulsion/cream before using this. Be careful not to skimp on skincare, as the sunstick can feel a bit dry during application. While I'm generally satisfied, I've given it 4 stars because, considering the price, there are similar, more affordable options available. That said, if someone gave this to me as a gift, I'd be thrilled to use it for its oil-control and comfort.
TipFor best results, apply a light layer of skincare before using this product. This will help achieve that desired matte, clean skin look that lasts all day - which is the product's main selling point. Be cautious with your base skincare - too much or too little can cause flaking around the chin area. As for makeup compatibility, it surprisingly doesn't pair well with dewy foundations. Instead, it works better with semi-matte, semi-glow, or matte formulas (this is based on my combination-oily skin experience).

It's amazing how this sunstick, while not a perfect primer, manages to conceal my pores to some extent! ✅ I'd recommend this to people with oily skin. Just one swipe is enough to control excess oil. If you compare before and after photos, you can see how well it mattifies the skin. ✅ I also love the unique twist-up design, and the product is lightweight, making it perfect for on-the-go touch-ups.
ConsSince it's a transparent sunstick, it's hard to see if you're applying it evenly. But I suppose that's just because I'm not used to sunsticks yet. It can bunch up or pill slightly when applied like a deodorant stick, so I initially applied it and then gently spread it with my fingers. It's best to apply it, let it dry well, and then proceed with your makeup to prevent pilling.
TipThe formula finishes with a powdery feel, so I'd highly recommend this for those with oily skin rather than dry skin. While it doesn't completely mask pores like a heavy-duty primer, it does provide a nice blurring effect that helps conceal some pores!
