I knew Banila Co. was famous for being good. Before trying this balm, I had used oils, waters, and wipes, but my makeup never came off completely, and my skin always reacted badly. You see, I have dry skin that's oily on the surface but extremely dehydrated underneath - a combination dehydrated skin type. Considering my super sensitive skin, I always make sure to double cleanse thoroughly to remove any remaining impurities. Fortunately, this cleansing balm suits my skin best. It doesn't cause any adverse reactions. I've decided to stick with this cleansing balm for years to come. I'm currently on my second tub, having used both the 100ml and 180ml sizes. I'm planning to try other varieties from Banila Co.'s cleansing balm line, considering their cleansing effectiveness and ingredients.
ConsThe only downside might be that it doesn't remove everything completely on its own. However, I've heard that cleansers that are too strong can actually damage the skin barrier, so I don't really see this as a significant drawback. It still cleanses very effectively.

Just scoop out the amount suggested by the included spoon, gently glide it over your face, and massage it in as it melts. It effortlessly removes even heavy eye makeup. Following up with a foam cleanser for double cleansing leaves my skin feeling delightfully smooth. I'll definitely repurchase this!
ConsI wish it came in a tube. After using pump-style oil products, scooping this out feels inconvenient. Using a spoon doesn't seem very hygienic either. The inner lid is hard to open, so I removed it completely. Now I just leave the spoon on top of the outer lid. It's a hassle to wash and dry the spoon each time.
TipIt removes makeup well, emulsifies nicely, and when followed up with a gentle low-pH foam cleanser, it leaves my skin feeling soft and supple.

Emulsifies well. Love the silky, melting texture. As someone with dry skin, this alone helps manage my sebum and dead skin cells to some extent. Great cleansing effectiveness while still being hydrating - that's a win!
ConsThe packaging is absolutely dreadful. It's too easy for water to get in, making it inconvenient to use. It's also unnecessarily bulky, taking up a lot of space despite not having that much product. The spatula it comes with isn't user-friendly either. Causes eye irritation and blurred vision. No improvements to the container, and I'll switch to a better alternative if one comes along. For now though, I reluctantly plan to repurchase...

As you massage it in, you can feel little granules that seem to be sebum, which gives you confidence it's thoroughly cleansing. I've used it multiple times now and I'm quite impressed! Usually, I felt the need for a double cleanse to be at ease, but with this product, a single cleanse leaves my skin feeling clean and residue-free. It's so reassuring! The fact that it's made with zero artificial colorants and plant-derived ingredients gives me even more peace of mind. Who this product is perfect for: • Those who want a thorough makeup removal (even stubborn products like eyeliner and mascara come off easily with just one cleanse) • People who dislike runny, oil-like textures • Anyone dealing with blackheads or excess sebum • Those concerned about skin irritation
ConsFor first-time users, controlling the amount might be a bit tricky. While the quantity looks substantial, you'll find yourself going through it surprisingly quickly, which makes the price-to-quantity ratio slightly disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this to those who prefer cleansing oils or think they might struggle with dispensing the right amount.
TipRemember, everyone's skin is different, so what works for me might not work for you. It's always best to patch test new products, especially if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergic reactions.

When I use this cleansing balm and roll it on my face, I can feel the sebum coming off onto my hands. I never get that sensation with a cleansing foam. With this cleansing balm, not only does it remove the sebum from my nose, but it also leaves my skin feeling much cleaner. I really like that.
ConsSince it's a balm type, you need to use more product compared to a cleansing foam, which makes it a bit wasteful. You also need to cleanse more thoroughly, otherwise your face feels greasy.
TipThe cleansing balm seems to be more effective at removing sebum and deep-cleaning the skin, especially during the summer months when oil production increases. However, it requires using more product and a more thorough cleansing routine to avoid leaving a greasy residue. This might be a trade-off between effectiveness and economy that users should consider based on their skin type and cleansing preferences.

No need for a separate makeup remover - it effortlessly removes even the most stubborn eye makeup, including glitter and heavy foundation. What I love most is how effective it is at dissolving excess sebum. Here's a pro tip: before cleansing, massage it onto dry skin for about 10 minutes. You'll actually see the sebum melting away! After using this product, my skin feels incredibly soft and smooth.
ConsThere's hardly anything to criticize - it's such an excellent product!
TipThis cleanser truly works hard to keep your skin clean and balanced. It's perfect for those with combination dehydrated skin or anyone looking to improve their cleansing effectiveness. Just be mindful if you have super sensitive skin, as its powerful formula might cause a slight tingling sensation for some.

Cleansing Effectiveness: 4.5/5 It effortlessly removes everything from foundation to mascara and eyeliner. No need for excessive rubbing, allowing for a gentle cleanse without irritation. This one-stop solution even tackles most lipsticks and blushes. However, for long-lasting lip tints, I'd recommend using a dedicated lip/eye makeup remover. Hydration: 5/5 Despite its rich balm texture, it keeps your skin feeling moisturized throughout the cleansing process. I've tried oil, water, and wipe formulas, but this balm type provides the best hydration. Hydration comparison: Balm > Oil > Water > Wipes While those with dry skin will likely be most satisfied, even my combination-dehydrated skin finds it comfortable to use. Sebum (Pore) Management: 4/5 Hand warmth + Cleansing balm = Sebum softening After finishing my third jar, I've noticed a significant reduction in blackheads - that's the most surprising benefit. Its thorough cleansing prevents clogged pores too. The combination of your hands' warmth and the balm makes it easy to extract even stubborn whiteheads. However, it's not specifically designed for sebum control, so those with oily skin might need additional specialized products. Scent: 5/5 It's nearly unscented, with just a hint of fragrance. If I had to quantify it, I'd say it's 95% unscented and 5% fragranced. As someone sensitive to scents, I've had no issues with this product.
ConsPrice: 3/5 The smaller size (100ml) is priced in the low 10,000 won range, while the larger size (180ml) is in the high 10,000 won range. Currently, it's priced at 18,*** won. The smaller size looks quite tiny in person! The price per volume is on the expensive side, which is disappointing. Packaging: 3/5 You use a spatula to scoop out the cleansing balm (it's included!). It's definitely more inconvenient than oil or water types. However, if you're generally interested in skincare, it's a manageable level of hassle!
Tip✔️ I also use it as a first-step cleanser for sunscreen removal. ✔️ Be careful not to get water in the balm, and make sure to keep the spatula clean. Regular washing is recommended! ✔️ The smaller size (100ml) is great for travel. It's perfect for trips longer than two weeks!

It's my fifth repurchase already! It removes makeup effectively and causes minimal irritation. The generous amount lasts quite a while. No need for a second cleanse - it rinses off completely without leaving any residue!
ConsWhen your skin barrier is compromised, this can definitely feel a bit harsh! But that's somewhat unavoidable with cleansing balms. The main drawback is hygiene. If you keep it in the bathroom, the humidity seems to affect it quickly, so you need to store it elsewhere. I actually switched to another brand's cleansing balm because of the packaging, but it didn't suit me, so I came back to this one.
TipThe review highlights the product's effectiveness in makeup removal and gentle cleansing, which are key factors for many consumers. However, it also points out potential issues with skin sensitivity and storage, which are important considerations for those with delicate skin or humid environments. The reviewer's loyalty to the product despite trying alternatives underscores its overall quality and performance.

The balm texture melts gently, dissolving makeup without irritating the skin. I'm really impressed with how thoroughly it removes even waterproof mascara and long-lasting lip tints. After use, my skin feels moisturized without any tightness, and has a clean, refreshed appearance. I'm nearly finished with this jar and plan to repurchase since it's been so gentle and effective, without causing any blemishes. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I think this would work well for both dry and oily skin types! The sweet scent is also a delightful bonus.
ConsThere was a slight stinging sensation if the product got into my eyes, and it occasionally caused some temporary blurring of vision. While the fragrance is subtle, those sensitive to scents may have mixed feelings about it.
TipThe key is to apply it to dry hands and a dry face! After massaging it in, add a bit of water to emulsify for residue-free removal. For double cleansing, I recommend following up with a gentle, low pH foam cleanser. Using this product for your first cleanse in the evening will result in noticeably smoother skin texture the next day.

I have dry skin, so after double cleansing, my skin usually feels very tight. But with this, I can gently remove makeup with just one cleanse. Cleansing Effectiveness: You might feel uneasy about cleansing with just a cleansing balm, but this one is sufficient for a thorough cleanse on its own. It even removes mascara well if you emulsify it properly.
ConsPackaging: A spatula would be nice for scooping out the product. There's a plastic cover on top where it sits, but it can be a bit cumbersome. Eventually, I just end up using my hands to scoop it out.
TipIf you gradually add water and roll it thoroughly on your skin, you can cleanse effectively without needing to wash multiple times! Many sets come with a mini size, which is really useful. I recommend purchasing the set if available.
