When you think of Paula's Choice, what comes to mind? Everyone around me seems to answer with AHA and BHA. I've actually tried their BHA Liquid before, so I was really curious about the AHA Gel! Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel is a hydrating exfoliant that helps care for rough skin texture and uneven complexion. It's a leave-on type that absorbs into the skin rather than being washed off. Since it contains AHA, you do need to be careful about initial irritation. The level of sensitivity might vary depending on your skin type. Surprisingly, I hardly felt any irritation when I first used it. Talk about being lucky! Even though I didn't experience much initial irritation, I decided to use it consistently. After about a week, I definitely noticed that dead skin cells weren't forming as much and my skin texture became smoother. To be honest, I've been using quite a few high-concentration skincare products from Paula's Choice lately, so I'm not sure if it's solely due to this product... but I definitely felt a difference before and after using it. I was actually worried that the gel type might feel sticky afterwards, which can sometimes happen, but I didn't experience any discomfort in terms of how it felt during application or after it settled. Paula's Choice seems to be a brand that really nails the user experience, even with their high-concentration products. While I didn't experience much initial irritation, this type of product can be quite intense for some people! - ch********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 8, 2024
- It seems to be effective at removing dead skin cells... It stings a bit, so I assume it's working, but I'm not entirely sure - Super convenient. Just apply it in the evening and you're done - It's highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way, making it last longer - Quite pricey, as expected from Paula's Choice - Can't really tell if there's any significant effect - The tingling sensation can be really irritating at times Try purchasing a sample pack first and if you like it, then go for the full-size product - lm****Dehydrated SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessMar 28, 2024
A friend of mine noticed my dead skin cells and gifted me this product. It's so convenient - no need to rinse off with water, just apply and let it absorb for easy exfoliation. The lightweight, refreshing gel texture absorbs well and spreads smoothly on the skin. While there's a slight tingling sensation, the exfoliating effect? Well, it was rather subtle. This product might cause irritation, so those with super sensitive skin should definitely do a patch test first! - ju********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessDead Skin CellsRecommendedMar 28, 2024
Glycolic acid, with its small molecular size, gently and effectively removes dead skin cells. This exfoliation accelerates skin cell turnover, transforming dull and rough skin into a bright, smooth complexion with a vibrant glow. Additionally, glycolic acid neutralizes alkaline substances, helping to balance skin pH. It also promotes collagen synthesis, which aids in healing scars, softening expression lines and wrinkles, and improving skin issues like hyperpigmentation and blemishes. Its ability to attract moisture from the air keeps the skin hydrated. I've been using it occasionally and I'm satisfied with how it's improved my skin texture. The price is somewhat high, which is disappointing. Due to its high concentration, it can cause a tingling sensation when applied. - zo*****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMar 14, 2024
It tingles a bit like when you get a facial scrub at the spa. But after using it, your skin feels incredibly soft...! The downside might be the price. Also, since it's a bit strong, you should check your skin condition carefully before using it! - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedMar 1, 2024
Although I've only been using it for two days and need to observe longer, I feel like the rough dead skin cells are being sloughed off. My skin texture seems to have improved a bit. I developed many small blemishes on my forehead, and it stings and burns a little when applied. I think I'll need to use just a small amount each time. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 29, 2023
I love how it shows immediate results! On mornings after using it, I can definitely feel my skin texture is smoother and more refined. When my skin is sensitive, it can cause a tingling sensation, so I tend to avoid using it before my period. - no***Dry SkinRecommendedOct 9, 2023
The texture is between water and gel, and it's transparent. It's like aloe gel mixed with water, and it spreads well across the face. The scent isn't particularly pleasant though. When I have blemishes that are hard to calm down, I apply this product before bed, and by the next morning, it's much better. This is the only product that's been this effective for my skin texture issues. It really works! It dissolves dead skin cells, making the skin smoother. It's also great to use the night before when you need your makeup to look flawless the next day. Your skin looks amazing with base makeup on after using this. I sometimes apply it only to areas with texture issues, and other times I apply it all over. I use a very thin layer, but apply it a bit thicker on areas with texture problems. It's not a daily-use product; once a week seems about right. It might be quite irritating for those with thin, super sensitive skin. It runs quite easily, so apply it quickly. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedSep 14, 2023
It's great at removing dead skin cells. I've been using this product for a while now. It often peels off like dirt. There's not much to dislike. I highly recommend applying it only at night! - do*******Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRednessAug 29, 2023
I tried this because Paula's Choice is famous for their exfoliants. It seems to work really well. If you have sensitive skin, it might be best to avoid this. It's a bit harsh. For those with sensitive skin, opt for something gentler.
