The red shade is truly stunning!
ConsI can't really think of any downsides. I've never regretted purchasing an Yves Saint Laurent lip product!

However, after trying this on a friend's recommendation, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked.
ConsI can't think of any major drawbacks. Since it's a matte lipstick, I've accepted that some dead skin cells might show up, but I still wear it regularly.

Despite being a matte formula, it doesn't feel tight or uncomfortable on the lips when applied. Unlike MAC mattes which can be really drying, this one isn't. It doesn't accentuate lip lines and doesn't create a 'yogurt effect' (uneven application). The staying power is decent. The packaging looks luxurious.
ConsIt's quite pricey. I feel there might be similar quality lipsticks in the mid-range market, so I don't see a particular merit in spending this much. The ingredients aren't particularly impressive.
TipBeing a matte formula, it looks beautiful and natural even on bare skin when applied with light, dabbing motions.

ConsWhen my lips are dry and flaky, it tends to accentuate the dead skin cells. I suppose that's an unavoidable characteristic of matte lip products.

Sometimes I feel like I'm cool-toned, other times warm-toned. I just wear all the pretty colors I love! This is shade 204. It's a burgundy with a hint of plum that suits cool tones! The color is unique - it's red but has an elegant vibe, so I often use it for statement makeup looks. It's quite oily, so it applies really smoothly. Just one swipe covers well, even in lip lines! No dryness, and it doesn't feel like it's just sitting on top of your lips. It's lightweight and comfortable.
ConsThough it's supposed to be matte, it doesn't feel that way at all. It glides on easily even without prepping your lips, but if you don't exfoliate, dead skin cells become more noticeable over time. Because it applies so easily, it also comes off easily. The staying power is a bit disappointing.
TipIf you take good care of your lips the night before and apply it to smooth lips, the staying power improves! This product seems to work better on its own rather than mixed with other lip products - it's easier to touch up and looks cleaner that way. The first photo shows it applied lightly to the inner lips and smudged out over lip balm. The second photo is Peripera Ink Rush with this lipstick applied to the inner lips. The last photo is this lipstick worn alone.

It's not drying at all and absorbs beautifully.
ConsIt's tricky to apply along the lip line. Though this might just be my lack of skill rather than a product flaw.

It applies smoothly and is perfect for daily wear. Although it's a lipstick, it doesn't leave my lips feeling overly dry. When I put it on, my face instantly brightens up!
ConsI developed cheilitis... I can't say for certain it was solely because of this product, as there could be various causes. However, I got cheilitis after using this product consistently for over a month. I never used to check the ingredients of lip products like tints or lipsticks (why didn't I?), but after getting cheilitis, I hurriedly looked them up. BHT and dimethicone are high on the list, and red pigment 202 is listed twice. Although my doctor said lip products were likely the cause of my cheilitis, I didn't want to believe it was this one. I loved the color and used it as my daily lipstick. After getting cheilitis, I stopped using it for a while, went to the dermatologist, took medication, applied ointment, and even got injections. When I thought I had recovered, I tried using it again, but the cheilitis came back. I still kept using it. My lips started to feel itchy, tingly, and blisters appeared. I was stressed wondering why the cheilitis wouldn't go away. Only then did I start to suspect this Yves Saint Laurent lip product. When I completely stopped using it, the itching and other symptoms significantly improved. It's frustrating that there's no complete cure for cheilitis... I really can't use this YSL lip product anymore. P.S. While it's good for daily use, it doesn't wear off gracefully. It also causes some darkening on the lips.

The case is absolutely gorgeous too. What's more, it doesn't dry out my lips at all. Even when I apply it to dry lips, it doesn't seem to emphasize dead skin cells. Above all, I love the scent when I put it on. The packaging is so pretty, and while it's pricey, if I had the money, I'd want to collect every shade!
ConsIt's quite expensive... Also, living in a rural area, it's disappointing that there are no Yves Saint Laurent counters nearby, so I can only purchase online or at duty-free shops.

It's not so matte that it's unwearable. On particularly dry days, applying it with a lip balm works wonderfully.
ConsOn very dry days, it can be challenging to wear this lipstick alone.

My lips tend to get dry and chapped, but even with just a light layer of lip balm underneath, this lipstick applies beautifully with great color payoff and a pleasantly hydrating texture. Shade 214 is perfect for that 'my lips but better' look, and the color is simply gorgeous.
ConsThe price is on the higher side, but the stunning visuals make it forgivable!
