Whether I'm wearing makeup or not, I always try to apply it when going out. Some sunscreens can cause makeup to separate or prevent base makeup from adhering well when applied before foundation. A common issue with sunscreens is pilling, but this one doesn't pill even when layered multiple times, which I really love. It reminds me of the old sunscreen formulas sold in supermarkets, but it's much more hydrating, applies lightly, and is gentle enough to use with children without worry. I have several sunscreens, but I reach for this one the most. Why? Because it applies as moisturizing as a hydrating cream, allowing foundation to glide on smoothly. Plus, it improves makeup adherence! It feels more like applying a hydrating primer than a sunscreen. This is probably the product's biggest advantage.
ConsThe price is a bit on the higher side, so it's a bit disappointing to see how quickly it gets used up. Still, the quality matches the price point - it's a high-quality sunscreen. At first, the strong scent was off-putting, and I ended up shelving it. But when I tried it again, I found the fruity-like fragrance quite pleasant. I'm not sure why I stopped using it before. However, for first-time users, the unfamiliar scent might be a bit overwhelming.
TipAlthough it's a sunscreen, it pairs so well with foundation that I use it like a hydrating primer. The product itself adheres well to the skin while providing moisture. Here's my application method: I generously squeeze some onto the back of my hand, then use a Hwahong brush (similar to a mask brush) to apply a thin layer. I pat it in with my hands, then lightly press with a paper towel to remove excess oil. I repeat this process 2-3 times. For the final layer, I skip the paper towel step and proceed with base makeup, resulting in a flawless skin finish. Definitely a product I'll repurchase when I run out!

I switched to Beat The Sun sunscreen for a week while keeping the rest of my makeup routine the same. This allowed for an accurate comparison. After using it, I can confirm that this sunscreen didn't cause any blemishes. I have super sensitive skin that reacts with contact dermatitis and breakouts if I use products that don't suit me. However, despite being a chemical sunscreen, this product didn't irritate my skin and worked well for me. (2) Great sunscreen for pre-makeup application At first application, it felt a bit rich, but after letting it sit for about a minute, it settled into a comfortable level of moisture without any overwhelming glow. Those who typically only use sunscreen should find this product suitable. While some found it a bit heavy for summer, with proper amount control, it should be fine for warmer months too. When I applied foundation right after using this product, it blended nicely with the sunscreen's balanced moisture, allowing the makeup to go on smoothly. There was no pilling, and being a chemical sunscreen, it didn't leave any white cast, spreading easily like an emulsion. Plus, the packaging is gorgeous. I almost didn't want to open it at first, but once I did, I loved how the product case fits perfectly in one hand. It's great for travel too - easy to pop into a makeup bag.
ConsThe scent was a bit unusual to me. It's not an unpleasant fragrance, but I usually avoid skincare products with added fragrances as they can irritate my skin. This product has a subtle scent that I noticed more than usual, perhaps because of the fragrance-free products I typically use. However, it's not a bad smell at all, and I think it's something you could get used to with continued use.
TipWhen dispensing the product, be careful with the amount as you need to squeeze the tube a bit firmly to get it out. The product doesn't come out too quickly, but you should use it cautiously at first to avoid over-dispensing.

It's not easily found in offline stores, so I was lucky to be selected for The Hwahae Testers and got to try it consistently for about 2 weeks. ✔️Great makeup compatibility The formula absorbs quickly into the skin after applying two or three layers, with no white cast even when applied generously. What I loved most was that the product itself isn't sticky, so it doesn't cause pilling with makeup. It would work great as a base before foundation. ✔️Less drying than others I was worried that the lack of stickiness might lead to dry skin over time, but even after 6 hours, I didn't feel any significant dryness. It almost feels like a moisturizer? Anyway, even those with dry skin should be fine using this. ✔️No blemishes I was concerned about the alcohol content, but I didn't experience any blemishes, itching, or irritation after application. However, skincare is different for everyone, so please check the ingredients and use according to your skin type.
Cons✔️Fragrance As someone sensitive to scents, I found it a bit irritating. It's not too strong, but since I usually prefer unscented products, it might feel more intense to me. ✔️Price The price is a bit high for the amount you get... You need to reapply during hot summer days, so the quantity feels a bit small. The product itself is good, so it would be great if they could offer a larger size at a more affordable price.
TipThis is a sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast and is great to apply before makeup. It's perfect for those who wear makeup daily, especially in summer! And since it's not sticky, it could work well on the body too - but the price is too steep for that. I'll save the good stuff for my face *_*

First off, there's no white cast. Unlike other sunscreens that feel like they're covering your face with something, this one doesn't give that sensation and seems to absorb well. My skin is combination dehydrated, and while it doesn't leave a completely matte finish, I like that it doesn't look oily when applied. Above all, I checked on Hwahae and the ingredients look good too, so that's a plus. My skin isn't particularly sensitive, but it didn't cause any blemishes. It also provided good sun protection and works well as a base before makeup, so I'm satisfied.
ConsWhile it's fragrance-free once applied, when you first squeeze it out, there's a scent that makes you think, 'Yep, this is definitely sunscreen.' But I'm not particularly sensitive to fragrances, and it doesn't linger after application, so it seems fine to me. I used it with my mom who has very dry skin, and she said it's okay for summer but might be too drying for winter. Those with dry skin might want to think twice about it. Oh, and after some time, the T-zone does get a bit oily.

Combination dehydrated skin that changes with the seasons. Prone to contact dermatitis unless using prescribed emulsions. Extremely sensitive - even sunscreens from the dermatologist can trigger reactions. 🧡 Sunscreen pros: Initially worried about dryness due to the slight alcohol scent, but it's surprisingly moisturizing. Blends well with facial oils without feeling greasy. Despite my sensitive skin and mask-wearing, it caused fewer breakouts than typical prescription sunscreens. No irritation even with prolonged wear or reapplication. The texture isn't too runny. Suitable for combination dehydrated skin and potentially for oily skin types too. A versatile, top-performing sunscreen, though those with very oily skin might want to avoid it. # Skin photo attached
Cons💚 Drawbacks: The initial alcohol scent was concerning, especially for acne-prone sensitive skin like mine. Though it dissipates quickly, it was still a bit scary. 💙 The sample size makes it seem pricier compared to other sunscreens. However, considering the frequent sales of other brands, it may appear relatively expensive. Still, I believe the quality justifies the price.
Tip💜 For combination dehydrated and acne-prone skin: After applying your usual face cream, squeeze about a fingernail-sized amount directly onto your face rather than your hands. Gently pat it in without excessive rubbing for best results.

Sunscreens in particular never seemed to work well for me. The only ones that suited me were La Roche-Posay and Anessa Baby Sunscreen (now discontinued). After a series of disappointments, I tried countless new sunscreens but couldn't find a match. Just when I was about to give up, I discovered Make P:rem's Blue Ray Sun Cream, which I've been using happily. Packaging: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When I first received it, I loved that it came in a clear plastic bag. It felt like opening a treat and reassured me that no one had used it before. Sometimes, paper boxes without seals inside or out can make you feel uneasy, but this wasn't the case here. Volume: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The 50ml size is perfect for carrying around. Its small size means I can always use it fresh. Of course, the plastic case isn't great for the environment. Texture: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It has a slightly runny, ivory-colored texture. It's easy to apply and doesn't pill or feel uncomfortable when reapplying. There's no white cast either. Application Experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Firstly, there's a slight alcohol scent. Those sensitive to alcohol might want to avoid it. I haven't checked the full ingredients list, so I'm not sure if it contains alcohol, but the scent is there. Secondly, it applies very smoothly and feels like an emulsion. It's great for reapplication, has no white cast, and works well even with generous application. However, being sensitive, I felt a slight grayish tint when applying too much, so I stuck to a moderate amount. Thirdly, right after application, there's a slight oily sheen that disappears after a while. My usual Make P:rem sunscreen leaves a more matte finish, while this one feels more like an emulsion. Daily Use: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I used to prefer matte finishes for makeup, but since wearing masks, I've switched to lighter makeup with minimal base. However, after using this product, people commented that my complexion looked off. As time passes, it seems to develop an oily sheen that slightly darkens my skin tone. (For reference, I never got such comments when using the Make P:rem product) Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ As a sunscreen nomad, I've tried everything from non-nano to mineral and organic filters, 'natural' products, famous brands, and gentle formulas. While many caused small bumps or irritation, this one didn't. The only downside is the slight darkening of complexion throughout the day, but it applies naturally and doesn't cause breakouts. I'm more than satisfied! However, I'll likely stick with my current Make P:rem product. If Make P:rem ever discontinues their sunscreen, I'd switch to this one. Recommended Skin Types: This would suit those with sensitive (but not extremely sensitive) skin, or those who don't get along with mineral or non-nano sunscreens!
ConsComplexion: It's really disappointing that my complexion darkens during the day after use. It's such a great product otherwise... Scent: There's a mild alcohol scent that made me think it would be irritating, but it actually wasn't. Still, the presence of an alcohol scent isn't ideal.
TipSince I have dry skin, I don't use blotting paper or powder. If you do use these after application, it might prevent the darkening of your complexion!

My skin type is thin, prone to redness, dry, and occasionally gets small blemishes. Texture: Lightweight, absorbs well, and feels smooth (see attached photo). 1. No eye irritation I've only tried organic UV filters in Huxley samples before, but this one caused no eye irritation at all, which was great. 2. Moisturizing and absorbs well As someone with dry skin, I find that even 'moisturizing' mineral sunscreens feel dry and gritty. This one is hydrating without excessive shine, which I love. It's not sticky at all - absolutely no stickiness. I'm really impressed. 3. No blemishes (ingredients) Despite being an organic sunscreen, it didn't irritate my skin. The ad mentions they use only hypoallergenic or low-allergenic UV filters, making it non-irritating. It was definitely gentle and non-irritating for my skin. 4. Small size makes it very portable It's perfect for my small bag these days, takes up no space, and even fits in my pants pocket! I would repurchase. It's moisturizing like it claims, without being greasy, which I really appreciate. It doesn't irritate my skin, and I love the small packaging. Although it's a bit pricey, the way it absorbs is really excellent. I think I've found my holy grail sunscreen thanks to The Hwahae Testers!
Cons1. Packaging The sunscreen doesn't come out easily. Even though it's new, you have to tap it like an emulsion sample to get it out. It doesn't come out well with just a squeeze. 2. Scent It has a typical chemical sunscreen smell. I don't mind it, but many people might dislike it. It's not too strong and disappears after application. 3. Price per volume It seems expensive for the amount you get. I tend to reapply often and use it on my arms too, so the price feels too high for the volume.
TipApply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside. Even if you have a similar skin type to mine, you might still experience eye irritation from sunscreens, so those with sensitive skin should keep this in mind. I noticed some other reviews mention eye irritation.

It has the exact texture of an emulsion. Even after application, my skin feels just like it does after my regular skincare routine. As a result, there's absolutely no issue with makeup looking cakey or uneven. Having sensitive skin, I often experience breakouts with different products, but this sunscreen doesn't cause any blemishes, which I'm really happy about. Since it's like an emulsion, there's no white cast at all.
ConsAs someone with oily skin, I found it a bit too hydrating for my liking. On the plus side, I usually get a lot of dead skin cells around my blemishes, but thanks to its moisturizing properties, that wasn't an issue this time! It seems to be fragrance-free, but there's a slight chemical scent... maybe a hint of alcohol? It's very faint though! Update: After using it for a few more days, unfortunately my skin had a bad reaction to it.
TipI think it works best when applied right after your skincare routine. Since it has an emulsion-like texture, you don't even feel like you're wearing sunscreen!

It feels like an essence, applying smoothly to the skin. It's perfect for summer with its light texture. What's great is how well it works under makeup - when you apply foundation over it, there's no pilling and your skin looks flawless. I usually dislike the slightly thick application of mineral sunscreens, but this chemical sunscreen glides on effortlessly. Plus, it's free from harmful ingredients, so I'm using it with peace of mind! Being a chemical sunscreen, it does give a bit of a glow. If I wore this alone outside, people might mistake it for oily skin, so I only use it when I'm planning to apply makeup.
ConsThe scent isn't great, unfortunately. It's like a mix of glue with something else added? When I first smelled it, I was taken aback. I'm not particularly sensitive to scents, so I've gotten used to it with continued use. However, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who's sensitive to fragrances.

Absorption: First impression when applying - it's incredibly lightweight and spreads evenly across the face without any patchiness. It absorbs exceptionally well. White cast: This is a pure sunscreen without any brightening effects. Oil/Moisture balance: It feels oil-free with high hydration. I have combination dehydrated skin, so my makeup often pills. However, unlike other matte sunscreens, this product allows my foundation to apply smoothly, creating a beautiful skin finish. I think it's due to its moisturizing formula. I'm planning to use only this from now on! Even semi-matte foundations layer perfectly on top of it! Stickiness: After absorption, there's no stickiness at all. It feels fresh enough to wear alone during summer!
ConsThere's nothing to dislike... It's fragrance-free, gentle, doesn't cause blemishes - I can't find a single flaw!
TipHighly recommended for those whose makeup tends to pill, no matter how thorough their skincare routine! There's a reason why many beauty YouTubers use this. After applying your emulsion, smooth this on and gently pat it in before applying your base products!
