Cons1. Slippery feel (oiliness?) At first, it applies a bit dry, but after fully applying, there's a slippery sensation that made me worry it might cause blemishes. So I only applied it to my forehead and cheeks where I don't usually get breakouts. 2. Scent It has a slight medicinal smell which isn't very pleasant. 3. While it doesn't cause blemishes or skin irritation, so I continue using it, it doesn't seem to have any major pros or cons
TipThis product would be great for those who never experience blemishes

When I used the small sample, I didn't notice much, but now that I've bought it and have been using it diligently every day, I unfortunately don't feel like there's been any significant improvement. As you might expect, it has the typical thick, ointment-like texture and medicinal scent characteristic of regenerating creams. It feels like applying medicine, so if you enjoy that sensation, you might like this product. As I try to think of other positive aspects I've personally experienced, I'm afraid nothing really comes to mind. Although I generally have a favorable impression of the Kiehl's brand as a consumer, I don't plan to repurchase this product.
ConsThis product has an ointment-like consistency. It applies quite thickly, so it's better suited for nighttime use rather than during the day before makeup. The texture itself tends to pill and prevents other products from absorbing properly. When applying, avoid rubbing and instead pat it in for better absorption. If you rub, it will just keep moving around on the surface. Unlike Kiehl's typically pleasant fragrances, this product has a medicinal scent that tends to become more unpleasant over time. This means you need to use it up quickly, but since it's not exactly an inexpensive product, it feels wasteful to end up throwing it away. The scent doesn't dissipate, making it difficult to apply to the face. I ended up using the rest of the jar on my arms and legs just to finish it. After application, your skin feels hot and uncomfortable. I usually apply skincare products generously, but with this one, it makes my skin feel so warm that I can't even apply much of it, despite it being a regenerating cream. My entire face feels so hot that I want to wipe it off, and it even makes me break out in a sweat around my upper lip area. As a result, I can't use it at all during summer. Keep this in mind!
TipI mixed this regenerating cream with a very hydrating moisturizer when applying. This improved the texture and made the cream feel less heavy on my skin.

As someone with oily skin, I'm always hesitant to use moisturizing creams due to their rich feel. However, I think this product is suitable even for oily skin types like mine during winter. It has just the right amount of richness, and I really enjoyed applying it thickly to areas that need intensive care. What I appreciated most was that it didn't feel too greasy after application.
ConsThe natural cica scent...? wasn't my style. Whether it's due to Kiehl's brand power or the quality ingredients, the slightly high price is another factor that makes me hesitate about repurchasing.

It absorbs well and provides excellent hydration.
ConsI've been using it for over a month now, but I can't really tell if my skin has improved. Also, I wish it was completely fragrance-free.

I needed a regenerating cream since I'm currently getting toning laser treatments at the dermatologist, and the price was reasonable for the amount. I bought two - one for me and one for my mom. It's my first time trying a cica cream. I have oily skin, but the laser treatments made my skin extremely dry. This cream leaves my skin feeling soft and comfortable! Especially right after the laser treatment, I applied it as soon as I got home, and by evening, my skin felt so soothed. I applied it again before bed, and the next morning, the redness had almost disappeared as if I hadn't even had the laser treatment - I was amazed! It's incredibly good... I'm impressed! Kiehl's seems to work well for me. No tingling or blemishes. I have oily skin, so I'm slightly concerned about the richness, but my mom, who's in her late 50s with dry skin, tried it once and said, 'This is nice~ Kiehl's is pretty good!' If you have dry skin, you could probably use this instead of a hydrating cream. Oh, and the texture is slightly thick, but it spreads easily when applied. You only need a small amount to cover your face and neck. Just squeeze out a little and spread it thinly!
ConsFor my oily skin, it doesn't cause blemishes and the oiliness can be managed if I control the amount... but it still feels a bit greasy. Seeing how it applies perfectly matte on my mom's dry skin, it seems better suited for dry skin types. The scent is a bit neither here nor there? I think it would be better if it were fragrance-free.
TipIt's perfect as a regenerating cream while I'm getting laser treatments at the dermatologist. It provides good hydration for sensitive, dry skin and soothes really well. Applying a thin layer twice makes it less sticky and works great!

Routine: Toner (Dokdo Toner & Cosrx Low pH Toner) ➡️ Emulsion (Dokdo Emulsion) ➡️ Cica Cream (this product) Note: Minimized skincare steps to accurately assess the product's effectiveness. Skin condition: Acne scars scattered across the skin from extractions at the dermatologist. Used this product expecting it to address its main claims: acne scar removal, soothing care for blemishes, and alleviating some deep dryness. First time using a cica cream (previously only used moisturizers). Application ★★★★☆ The texture isn't creamy like typical cosmetics, but more like an ointment for skin regeneration sold in pharmacies, similar to burn creams. You might expect it to be thick and difficult to spread, but surprisingly, it glides on smoothly without irritation, even with a small amount. This unexpected quality is quite charming. I initially applied it generously, as I would with a moisturizer, but found I had excess left over, which I applied to my elbows. This means you can achieve satisfactory coverage with less product than expected. I was very pleased with its spreadability. Absorption ★★★☆☆ Although you end up using less product due to its good spreadability, I felt (this may vary for others) that it left too much of an oily feeling for the amount used. It's not light enough for summer use, but perfect for transitional seasons like fall or winter. However, after application, it feels more like it's sitting on the skin rather than being absorbed. After about 30 minutes, the oiliness seems to have somewhat settled, and it's not bothersome in terms of absorption. However, those expecting a product that absorbs quickly and immediately improves deep dryness might want to avoid this type. Moisturizing power ★★★★★ My skin became extremely dry due to extractions and peeling treatments at the dermatologist. As a result, my skin would become parched with even slightly less hydration. However, with this product, I experienced zero tightness and zero dryness, even when used directly after the toner and emulsion steps without additional layering. In terms of moisturizing power, it's suitable even for dry skin types. Product effectiveness ★★★★☆ This product emphasizes "acne scar removal," and it seems to be effective due to the madecassoside ingredient. While there's no dramatic effect after just one or two uses, I noticed that after using it daily for about 5 days, the redness from slightly irritated scars after cleansing would gradually subside about 5 minutes after applying this cream. (I intentionally waited about 5 minutes after application) While it's difficult to confirm its effectiveness on pimples or acne, I can 100% acknowledge its unparalleled effectiveness in addressing redness. Madecassoside is a gentle yet effective ingredient for sensitive or acne-prone skin. (However, this product contains many other potentially problematic ingredients that might be concerning) Overall assessment In terms of application, absorption, and moisturizing power, it fully replaces the role of a moisturizer. It's perfect for nighttime care. It fulfills its advertised claims of: ✔️ Improving deep dryness ✔️ Scar removal ✔️ Oily skin: Might be slightly heavy ✔️ Dry skin: Suitable unless extremely dry ✔️ Normal skin: This skin type doesn't really need this kind of product ✔️ Combination skin: Good match, but avoid frequent daily use (I plan to use it occasionally)
ConsFragrance ❌ As someone who prefers unscented products over artificial fragrances, I find this scent completely unacceptable. It smells like ointment at first, but then transforms into a heavy, doughy flour scent. This is the only product where I've thought, "An artificial fragrance would actually be better." While the scent doesn't immediately spread when squeezed out, it becomes quite bothersome when applied to the face. Those sensitive to fragrances should take note. Ingredients ❌ I have a lot to say about the ingredients, but readers who don't prioritize this aspect can skip this section. (Note: I'm not an expert, so I'm sharing my personal concerns about the ingredients based on my experience with this product. Please let me know in the comments if there are any errors or misinformation, and I'll correct them.) Firstly, while glycerin is included for moisturizing, I question why they added so much shea butter. Both are excellent for hydration, but glycerin alone would have been sufficient. The inclusion of shea butter, which is quite polarizing, seems unnecessary. (Given that glycerin is already second on the ingredient list after water, I think the amount of shea butter could have been reduced.) While I'm not sensitive to shea butter, it's disappointing for those who are, as it's actually an ingredient sensitive skin types should avoid. Secondly, stearic acid is present in higher quantities than madecassoside. While I'm not particularly sensitive to stearic acid, I've seen many people with sensitive skin develop small bumps from it. Stearic acid can cause dryness and is potentially pore-clogging when applied thickly. Although its concentration is lower compared to other products, it's disappointing to see it in higher quantities than madecassoside, which should be the main ingredient. Lastly, the inclusion of myristic acid and citric acid is concerning. Extremely sensitive skin types should avoid this product. Those with hyper-sensitive skin need to be twice or thrice as cautious when considering this product. While the concentrations are low, the combination of stearic, myristic, and citric acids can be very irritating for sensitive skin. It can potentially damage the skin barrier, thin the skin, cause breakouts, and even lead to purulent acne that requires dermatological intervention. Additionally, I just noticed it also contains dimethicone. While I acknowledge its moisturizing properties, please remove ingredients that could be harmful to the skin. Isn't this product supposed to focus on sensitive skin?
TipMy top tip is to avoid using this product when applying base makeup (sunscreen, foundation, BB cream, etc.). In fact, it feels quite heavy for use under base makeup. I tried it once and found that makeup didn't adhere well, completely broke down after just 3 hours, and left my face looking oily. (For reference, I used Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation) Let's stick to using this for nighttime skincare. Additional note (19.03.16): This product is suitable for use after serums to form a moisture barrier. Unlike products that leave a slippery finish, this cream provides a relatively clean finish even after using serums. On days when I use serums, I find myself reaching for this product more often!

I have blemish-prone skin, especially around my chin area. I hadn't found any particularly effective cica creams before - some were too rich, while others claimed to be cica creams but had questionable ingredients. Firstly, the Kiehl's cream had just the right oil and moisture balance for me. During the day, applying a moderate amount didn't cause my makeup to pill and kept my skin from feeling dry. At night, I could slather it on generously without waking up to an overly greasy face in the morning, which was great. However, these were pretty much the only advantages for me... Oh! Despite its thick texture, it absorbs well when applied!
ConsThe scent... was really off-putting at first. After using it for just under two weeks, I got used to it, but it's definitely not a pleasant fragrance! Although it's called a cica cream, it felt more like a moisturizer to me rather than having that cica effect. The ingredients seem to reflect that too? While the ingredients don't seem terrible, you should carefully check for any that might not agree with your skin. I was a bit concerned about the shea butter. Anyway, I didn't see any effect on reducing blemishes. It felt more like a winter moisturizer that provides a decent oil and moisture balance!
TipFor those who find it suits them, it could be great for hydration when the cold wind blows. It rarely pills like some products, but depending on how it interacts with your previous skincare steps, you might occasionally feel a slight pilling sensation. So, you should also consider how it combines with your existing products.

One thing I'd like to mention before diving into the review is that the testing period should be longer. With only about two weeks to use the product after receiving it, it's challenging to provide an in-depth assessment. In terms of texture, it's heavier than a typical cream, but it absorbs well. It actually absorbs better than I expected. Even after applying it over a serum and sleeping, my skin still feels moisturized in the morning. There's a slight richness to it as well. While it does contain two potentially harmful ingredients, we can't entirely dismiss preservatives as they help maintain the product's effectiveness. It would be preferable to use natural preservatives, though. I'm usually picky about ingredients, but I decided to give this a try. Personally, I didn't experience any side effects or blemishes. After application, my skin feels hydrated, and there's a slight richness that lasts until the next day. It seems suitable for fall and winter use. The scent isn't particularly pleasant, but it's not off-putting either. I prefer this to artificial fragrances - it's better to have a less appealing scent than to add artificial ones. So, I'm okay with the fragrance aspect. The packaging is a tube that you can squeeze, made of a material that won't tear when you roll it up to get every last bit out. This makes it easy to use the product completely. I'll provide an additional review after using it for a longer period.
ConsWhile the scent could be improved, it doesn't seem artificial, so I don't have any major complaints.
TipIt's been so dry lately, so I've been applying this after my serum before bed. During the day, I dab it on areas prone to dead skin cells, which works well.

I'd like to share my review after using this product exclusively for my skincare routine for over a week, without any other skincare products like toners or emulsions. Absorption - In my opinion, it has a somewhat rich texture. It's not heavy or difficult to apply, but it might be a bit much for those with oily skin. Given the price point and potential for varied opinions, I'd recommend trying a tester in-store before purchasing. Absorption speed - It doesn't absorb super quickly, but once applied, it feels like it creates a protective layer, leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated. I personally liked this! Moisturizing power - It's quite hydrating, so I'd recommend it more for dry skin types than oily. Those with oily skin might find it a bit too rich.
ConsThe one aspect I found somewhat disappointing was the scent. It really didn't agree with me. I wish it had been fragrance-free. Keep this in mind!
TipDuring these slightly chilly days, using this along with other skincare steps helps reduce redness and improves skin condition. As a result, makeup applies beautifully the next day! Consider this when making your purchase!

The review is completely unbiased and honest, with no guidelines or restrictions. Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsThis is a review from The Hwahae Testers! I don't have extremely oily skin, but my skin tends to get dry as soon as autumn arrives. I occasionally get a few small blemishes on my forehead, but they're not frequent. Instead, I mainly struggle with redness on my cheeks and stubborn, deep-seated blemishes that keep recurring in the same spots even after they subside. Since it's difficult to completely eliminate these deep-seated blemishes without dermatological treatment, I'm particularly interested in products that help reduce redness or slightly improve scarring. I mainly use products for soothing, hydration, and stress relief for my skin. Among these, I'm especially interested in cica products. Regarding the products I've tried, in the cica category, I've used La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume, Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Cream, and A'pieu Madecassoside Cream. * Application: A'pieu > Dr. Jart+ > Kiehl's Cica Cream > La Roche-Posay Initially, the Cicaplast Baume seemed a bit thinner, but the Kiehl's Cica Cream actually applies better and absorbs faster. The best part is that there's no white cast! And despite its appearance, it spreads really well! However, this product does feel a bit heavy to be called a cream. But it's just the right weight for winter, and perfect for the current transitional season. While it feels a bit oily when applied, it absorbs completely overnight, so it doesn't cause makeup to pill. * Scent: It has a sort of fermented scent, like beer bread or sourdough! * Effectiveness: In my case, I didn't experience any small bumps at all. It does its main job of reducing redness to some extent, and while it doesn't completely eliminate it, consistent use should yield good results. When applied to areas where pimples are about to form before bed, it helps reduce itching and prevents breakouts. It seems great for providing hydration and moisture to combination dehydrated skin types or those experiencing temporary dryness during seasonal changes. * Recommendation: While it feels rich when applied, it absorbs completely overnight leaving just the right amount of moisture. I'd recommend it for those with dehydrated skin, those whose skin acts up in autumn, or those who easily experience facial redness (it might be too light for extremely dry skin types). Also great for those who dislike white cast!
ConsIn my case, the scent was a bit... It felt like I was applying bread to my face, which was a bit off-putting. I also experienced a slight itching sensation. Personally, I tend to feel itchy with any cream or balm unless it's a fast-absorbing moisturizer (without silicone), so this wasn't a big issue for me. With this balm, the itching was just at the level of 'Oh, it might start itching,' so I continued using it, but the slight itchiness was still a bit uncomfortable. This could be due to my skin condition!
TipIn my case, I apply this cica cream over a soothing mask or soothing moisturizer. This helps blemishes subside much faster, maintains hydration, and results in better skin condition and effectiveness!
