If you're struggling with milia, buy this right now! ---------August 15, 2023--------- I'm still using it well, and as a former pro-milia sufferer, I no longer get milia... (except for one or two when I'm lazy about exfoliating). For those struggling with milia... please give this a try just once
ConsThere's hardly anything to dislike about it, I only wish I had discovered this product before developing blemish scars from milia...
TipApply a drop on each cheek and wait 15 minutes before applying other products Acid-based products can be irritating, so dilute before use Don't be greedy! Otherwise, you might damage your skin barrier You'll see results after about 2 weeks of consistent use Once the milia have subsided somewhat, use only twice a week

I have super sensitive skin, but I experienced no irritation whatsoever.
ConsI bought this because mandelic acid is supposed to be a milder exfoliating ingredient than AHA. However, as a result, the dead skin cell removal effect wasn't noticeable, so I ended up looking for a stronger exfoliating product. I didn't reach for this one often because I kept using other exfoliators, and I was worried that using this on top might irritate my skin.

Among AHAs, mandelic acid has a larger molecular size, making it one of the least irritating options. However, this also means its exfoliating effect is milder. I have acne-prone skin with easily clogged pores, so exfoliation is a must for me. I've heard that in dry winter months, AHAs are preferable to BHAs, which can be more drying. I usually use Paula's Choice BHA Liquid, but I switch to this product when my skin feels dry and sensitive, for a gentler exfoliation. (Generally, BHAs are more effective for oily, acne-prone skin than AHAs.) Winter exfoliation can be a bit of a dilemma. In my case, harsh winds, dryness, and indoor heating easily make my skin sensitive and dehydrated, so using more intense exfoliating products becomes a concern. But skipping exfoliation altogether leads to visible dead skin cells and prevents moisturizers from penetrating properly, exacerbating dryness. This product is perfect for breaking that cycle as it's virtually non-irritating.
ConsAlthough it's marketed as oil-free, the texture feels quite rich. As someone with oily skin, it's not my preferred consistency.
TipThis works great for gentle exfoliation when your skin is sensitive or dry. Even when my skin is acting up, I don't experience any tingling or irritation. It's truly gentle. The addition of hyaluronic acid helps with hydration, making it an excellent all-around product for mild and moisturizing winter exfoliation. If you're looking for stronger exfoliation within The Ordinary range, try their lactic acid or glycolic acid products. Both are AHAs. Also, for oily, acne-prone skin improvement, BHAs are generally more effective than AHAs. (However, I understand that AHAs are better for treating closed comedones and acne scars.)

Quick summary: Don't hesitate to buy it first and read reviews later. Just go ahead and purchase it! Advantages: - Gentle exfoliation possible even for sensitive skin - Effective for acne caused by clogged pores or uneven texture - Works wonders on nose acne - Improves overall skin texture Drawbacks: Haven't found any yet My usage method: 1. Use a mild, lightweight toner (avoid those with exfoliating or whitening properties) on a cotton pad. Add 3-5 drops of mandelic acid on top. 2. Gently swipe the cotton pad with mandelic acid over your face. You can pat it in if you like, but it's not necessary. 3. Wait 20-30 minutes, then continue with your regular skincare routine. I follow up with Isol Propolis Ampoule (which is also great!) and then use two different creams. Photo description: You can see results as soon as the next day! That was my experience. Before: January 2nd / After: January 21st (I just took the 'after' photo for this review. It was actually better before, but some blemishes appeared after not using it for a few days) These photos are completely unedited. Both were taken with the default camera app. When skin is in poor condition, it definitely looks more yellow and dark... (Everyone agrees, right?)
ConsThere are no drawbacks yet, honestly none. It even reduces bumpy texture when applied to the body. No cons at all, it's that good!
TipInstead of applying the liquid directly, I used a cotton pad to swipe it on. Since I have sensitive skin, I'm letting my skin adapt to the mandelic acid before trying direct application. Even just using it with a cotton pad has given me great results!

It's a game-changer for removing dead skin cells effectively. Gentle Formula: Mandelic acid is known to be a milder exfoliating ingredient compared to others. This is perfect for my combination dehydrated skin that's also super sensitive. As someone with oily tendencies, I need consistent exfoliation, but it's always been a challenge due to my skin's sensitivity. Unlike other AHA and BHA exfoliants that caused my skin to freak out, this one doesn't irritate at all! Smooth Skin Texture: The improvement in skin texture is noticeable and happens quickly with this product. Apply it before bed, and you'll wake up to visibly clearer, more radiant skin in the morning!
ConsI honestly can't think of any downsides! This product introduced me to the world of effective exfoliation.
TipPro tip: After applying AHA, it's best to wait 5-10 minutes before moving on to your next skincare step (like hydration) to allow for proper absorption.

Despite having sensitive skin, it doesn't cause much irritation. Since I started using mandelic acid, my blemishes have noticeably decreased. I'll likely continue using it in the future.
ConsThere's nothing particularly negative to mention. The slightly oily feeling disappears quickly, and the scent isn't bothersome at all.
TipI apply this product, wait a bit, then move on to the next step in my skincare routine.

Surprisingly, it's gentle enough for managing dead skin cells. While using too much can still cause some breakouts, mixing it with toner for an exfoliating treatment leaves my skin feeling smooth.
ConsThe downside is that when you first use it or after a long break, you might wake up the next day with some flaky patches, making your face look a bit unkempt. Boosting hydration helps resolve this quickly, but using it when you already have a buildup of dead skin cells can make your skin appear somewhat rough.
TipFor those with super sensitive skin, using this product alone might be too harsh. I recommend mixing it with your toner to create an exfoliating treatment, followed by thorough application of a hydrating moisturizer.

It's been particularly effective for my small, bumpy blemishes.
ConsThe texture feels like a very light oil, so if used alone, it might feel slightly heavy on the skin.
TipWhen mixed with essences, ampoules, or creams, the application experience really improves.

No joke, this is hands down the best cosmetic purchase I've ever made!!! Let me list the benefits I've experienced: - Absolutely zero irritation - Noticeable results after just one use - Milia completely vanished - Blackheads removed - Skin feels moisturized after application! As expected from mandelic acid, which is the gentlest AHA, there was no stinging, redness, or any such symptoms. I even applied it to a wound and felt nothing! At first, it felt like I was just applying a moisturizing oil, making me wonder if it would actually work. But no exaggeration, the very next morning my skin was already different. The reviews on The Ordinary's official site weren't lying when they said people saw results after just one or two uses - it's the absolute truth. After the first day, my face felt incredibly smooth to the touch. I thought, 'Wow! I've never felt anything like this before!' I was so amazed that I've been applying it almost daily since then. It's been two weeks now, and there's still zero irritation. My skin's blemishes and rough patches are all disappearing! I used to have quite a bit of acne, leaving behind many dark spots, but even those have noticeably faded after just two weeks of use. Every time I look in the mirror, I'm moved by how my skin is changing. Even the blackheads in my T-zone have significantly reduced. Honestly, at this price point, for a 10% mandelic acid solution with hyaluronic acid... you absolutely must try it, I beg you!
ConsWhile it showed dramatic effects on milia, blackheads, hyperpigmentation, and skin texture improvement, it wasn't very effective on hormonal cystic acne. However, after using this, your overall skin texture looks amazingly good!!
TipA must-have for those struggling with milia! A must-have for those with hyperpigmentation! A must-have for those with sensitive skin who want to try AHAs!

But since switching to this product, I've stopped using them altogether. It seems to effortlessly remove dead skin cells. The price is quite reasonable too. I mixed it with my moisturizer, which not only reduced irritation but also helped the cream absorb better into my skin. It's been a great experience overall.
ConsThe scent is quite unpleasant and off-putting. Applying it feels like you're spreading oil on your face. It's not thick enough, so when you use the dropper to apply it to your face, it just runs down. It can cause a tingling sensation when you first use it or after a long break. The lid doesn't fit properly.
TipAs mentioned in the instructions, it works best when mixed with an emulsion or cream. Apply it only in the evening, three times a week, similar to how you'd use a peeling gel.
