I hesitated for a long time before buying this due to the high price-to-volume ratio and the dramatic before-and-after photos on YouTube, wondering if it would really be effective. However, I'm planning to repurchase it. My skin texture has improved significantly, and it seems to help with acne scars too. My skin feels smoother and somehow stronger. It definitely helps calm active blemishes as well. However, as I have combination dehydrated skin, I found that using more than two pumps at once can cause small bumps to appear, so I stick to using just one pump. As I've seen in other reviews, it's really important to control the amount you use! First off, the 45ml volume is too small. Personally, I felt extremely dry when using this alone for skincare. So, I'm using this along with another cream. The scent isn't overpowering, but it's strong enough to be a bit bothersome. As someone with combination skin, I noticed my skin getting progressively drier and more sensitive when using this alone. Now I only use it selectively for about 3 days when I have blemishes. In my opinion, one pump seems to be the right amount for acne-prone and oily skin types. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinAug 6, 2020
I have oily skin and always struggle with blemishes, but after using this, I heard someone say my skin looked better for the first time ever! The product is definitely non-irritating, and I was told I only need to apply this at night. So for about a month, I consistently used just this product before bed. My blemishes have reduced by 90%! I used to never go out bare-faced, but now I can step out for quick errands with just sunscreen on. It works hard for your skin! I guess because they didn't add fragrances, the scent was a bit surprising at first. It smells like grass? Or soil? If you're sensitive to scents, you might not like it. Even with consistent use, it's not a smell you get used to. (It's not nauseating or anything, could just be personal preference...) I saw this on their website, but I didn't apply anything else - just this at night! I think that's what made it effective. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJun 18, 2020
1. Absorbs well The texture is easy to spread smoothly without feeling heavy It feels more like an emulsion than a cream 2. Great ingredients + Introduction to tamanu oil! I bought this because tamanu oil is said to be good for dark spots and blemishes and works well for sensitive skin. I used to mix jojoba oil with a gentle cream, but it was a hassle and I ran out, so I bought this as an all-in-one solution. I have sensitive combination dehydrated skin with large pores, but this didn't cause any breakouts and provided decent hydration. It contains oil, so there's a slight shine, but I only use it at night, so it's fine. I'm on my 3rd bottle now, and when I use it consistently, my blemishes seem to fade a bit?? Maybe it's just my imagination lol Honestly, I don't expect much since cosmetics aren't medicine.. I didn't use all 3 bottles consecutively, so I might not have seen the full effects.. 3. Pump bottle I like that it comes in a pump bottle. I really dislike jar packaging because of dust :( 4. Brand They don't seem to be a brand that churns out products.. It seems like the CEO pays a lot of attention to skincare, which was part of why I chose it 1. The price and limited purchasing options Will it ever go on sale? The price is a bit burdensome. I've thought about buying it with other products, but I don't really need anything else.. I wish they had more product variety 2. The scent > It's a love-it-or-hate-it thing Honestly, I like that it doesn't have that artificial fragrance smell.. But it's become my husband repellent lol He doesn't come near me on days I use this.. (he says it smells like rubber) After using 3 bottles, I've gotten used to it Someone said it smells like soil, but to me it's more like herbal medicine? I like it~~ Maybe because I also like things like Guieae x pads, I don't mind it 3. Surprisingly..? I use it up quickly Without realizing it.. I find myself using it sparingly.. lol Unless you have extremely dry skin with no oil at all, it's best to use this at night. It doesn't pill under makeup, but since my T-zone tends to get very oily, I only use it at night. When you first try it, it's a good idea to test it on the jawline between your face and neck.. It's perfect to use just this after applying a mild toner without active ingredients. It seems best not to use too many products together with this. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 21, 2020
Thank you to The Hwahae Testers for giving me the chance to try this great product! I usually like to write reviews after using a product for a while, as it's hard to judge after just a day or two. So, I'll share my thoughts after about 10 days of use. I don't wear makeup often. I've been makeup-free for about 2 years now. Sunscreen is a must, but I rarely wear makeup unless I have an important appointment. Currently, due to the coronavirus and frequent fine dust, I wear a mask all day at work (I'm in customer service). My skin is naturally temperamental (which is why I reduced my makeup use), and even with daily mask changes, the covered areas sometimes get red and itchy from the humidity. Just as I ran out of my previous essence, I was lucky enough to win this product I'd been eyeing. I'll share my honest review. <Confident and proud packaging> When I first received the package, I could feel the brand's confidence and pride. It's like they're saying, 'We've achieved what others couldn't!' The detailed brand story and usage instructions showed such attention to detail that I was genuinely impressed (I even bragged about the unique packaging to my mom and boyfriend!). <Not chasing trends> There are many brands these days that research and launch products inspired by nature. When I first used this product consistently for a few days, the biggest impression was that it's 'not excessive'. It feels like it provides only the nourishment your skin truly needs, without overwhelming it. <Honest ingredients> It's composed of ingredients that work to restore the sensitive skin barrier. Everything feels natural, not artificial, leaving only comfort on my skin. Even my temperamental skin adapted well without issues, so I think it would be suitable for anyone. I don't usually indulge in skincare. Just toner, essence, and cream (sometimes skipping the essence or cream when I'm lazy). The one habit I've maintained is using a sheet mask at least five times a week. But since using the Great Barrier Relief, my skincare routine has become even simpler and more convenient! I'm 100% going to repurchase this (and I might try Kale-lalu-yAHA next time too!). Although the brand was somewhat unfamiliar to me, it made a strong impression. I'm grateful for the opportunity to try this product I was curious about. Thank you for creating and selling such a sincere, treasure-like product that doesn't just follow trends. There's not much to criticize, but if I had to mention one thing (which might not apply to me but could to others), the 'scent' is quite unique. It seems to be the tamanu oil scent(?). I prefer this natural scent to artificial, perfumed ones. Everyone's perception may differ, but I personally like this herbal, plant-like scent! As I mentioned earlier, my skincare routine is pretty simple. Oh! One tip is to reduce the use of cotton pads. I believe that skin doesn't lie. Skin loves naturalness. If you're too greedy, it will reject the excess. But if you neglect it too much, it will get angry (what should we do then?). If you start using Barrier Relief, use it when your skin is really tired, when your skin barrier has collapsed, when it's dry, or when it's red. Then, little by little, your skin will find its balance again. Really! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinFeb 20, 2020
I used this product from March to September while living by the seaside. Where I stayed, it was much colder than Korea even in March, with sharp winds. The wind was so cutting, it's hard to compare with Seoul. My existing redness worsened, and my skin became much drier. However, when I applied this product generously and topped it with a hydrating moisturizer, it calmed my skin much faster. To be precise, for those with dry skin, this product alone might not provide sufficient hydration in the dead of winter! But compared to other essences, this one focuses on soothing the skin! I'm very interested in cosmetics and have super sensitive skin, so when I buy products, I research various reviews, textures, scents, and ingredients thoroughly. I liked this brand's philosophy and was interested in tamanu oil, which led me to purchase it. Firstly, it contains highly concentrated ingredients that I prefer. Secondly, it has a nice texture without using any concerning ingredients. Thirdly, I appreciated that it doesn't contain artificial fragrances, allowing you to experience the natural scent of the ingredients. For those with dry skin, it's difficult to rely on this product alone. Consider it as an intermediate emulsion step. In summer, you could use it as a moisturizer! That's what I did! Since it doesn't contain artificial fragrances, you can smell the natural scent of the ingredients! I prefer this over forced artificial scents! When my skin becomes sensitive, I only apply two things: this product followed by a hydrating moisturizer. I skip all whitening and functional products, sticking to just this and a basic hydrating cream. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 19, 2020
This is my first review as a Hwahae Tester! (I'm giving you an honest review based on my actual experience. If you're interested in cosmetics and skincare and want genuine feedback, look no further!) After using this product, I can say that: - It contains oil ingredients, giving it a moisturizing feel! - Thanks to its gentle ingredients, it's suitable for those with sensitive skin and causes no blemishes! - A big advantage is that you can skip multiple skincare steps after cleansing and solve everything in one go! - I definitely noticed that it quickly smooths and softens the skin texture! - I loved that applying just this product didn't leave my skin feeling dry! (I have combination dehydrated skin, but I didn't experience any dryness!) - Another major plus: it was effective in calming the skin. When I had small bumps (like goosebumps?) on my face, I cleansed and applied this product, and by the next day, my skin was noticeably soothed! The one truly disappointing aspect is the scent. To put it simply, it smells like traditional herbal medicine! I think this scent could be polarizing. If you happen to like natural, herbal scents, I highly recommend it. However, the fragrance isn't too strong, so you might get used to it after a few days, and it's quite subtle, so it's not too bad. - Just be careful: if you apply it after using a sheet mask, it might be too nourishing for your skin and could cause blemishes. If you find it drying when using this product alone, try applying a light, water-based toner as well! If you have small bumps making your skin feel rough or look dull, gently exfoliate with a light formula, then after cleansing, smooth out your skin texture and pat this product in, focusing on problem areas for a soothing effect that leaves your face looking smooth! For best results, try applying 2-3 times a day instead of just once! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAug 22, 2019
Being an oil-based product, I thought it would be extremely oily... But after applying, there's this inner glow that emerges? It feels really nice. At first, I wasn't keen on the scent and thought I'd only use it for a few days, but among all the cosmetics I've bought with my own money, this is the only one where I've used every last drop and repurchased! On lazy days, if you layer this twice, it keeps your skin hydrated until morning~ That is, if you don't have extremely dry skin~ The scent is really the only downside... But these days, products without added fragrances are better as they don't contain harmful ingredients, so I don't worry about it much~ It's not repulsive or anything like that~~ I have combination dehydrated skin prone to redness, and my skin doesn't absorb well even when I apply multiple products. Skipping toner, I just use B-plane serum and this. Just these two products~ They control redness and lock in moisture~ For those with slightly dry skin, you might want to add a hydrating ampoule or cream~
