I discovered Krave Beauty through a YouTuber and decided to give it a try. It seems to have a soothing effect when applied to skin that's really acting up. For me, it feels too rich... From the moment I apply it, I sense more oiliness than hydration, so it doesn't feel as moisturizing. The morning after using this, my face is an oil slick. Because of this, while it seems to calm major blemishes, the excess oil sometimes causes small bumps to appear on otherwise clear areas. The scent isn't particularly pleasant either, so I don't find myself using it often. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinDec 19, 2020
There wasn't anything particularly good about it. Honestly, nothing at all... I'm not sure if it's clogging my pores, but it's causing a lot of tiny bumps and even something like folliculitis - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 23, 2020
The bottle design is lovely. The texture has a universal appeal with an emulsion-like feel that suits most skin types. It absorbs well into the skin. However, it might be a bit drying for winter use. Overall, it's a decent product. I was using it consistently until suddenly my forehead broke out with tiny blemishes. I had to stop using it. It has a herbal medicine scent. Unfortunately, it seems this product didn't agree with my skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMay 3, 2020
Thanks to watching plenty of product-related videos on YouTube before buying, I was a bit worried about the scent, but it turned out to be pleasant for me. I don't think this product suits my skin type. Following the usage instructions, I stopped my regular skincare routine and used only this product for about a week. Unfortunately, it led to a blemish party, so I had to discontinue use sooner than expected. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinFeb 21, 2020
1. It's not sticky, and after applying, my skin feels firm and supple. 2. Looking at the ingredient list, I'm reassured by the high-quality components. 3. As you can see in the before and after photos, my redness has significantly decreased and my acne scars have noticeably faded. 1. The scent isn't very pleasant - it smells a bit like herbal medicine. 2. I saw claims about addressing deep dryness, so I applied this product right after my toner (skipping my usual moisturizer). However, within minutes, my forehead felt so dry that it started to flake. It seems this product isn't as hydrating as I expected. 3. It feels a bit heavy for morning use. 4. After about 5 days of use, I started developing small blemishes, so I had to stop using it. Something in it doesn't agree with my skin. I strongly recommend checking the ingredient list carefully before purchasing. I have dry skin. Despite claims of addressing deep dryness, using this product alone isn't enough. It seems best to apply it as the final step after toner, emulsion, and moisturizer. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinFeb 21, 2020
~Review from The Hwahae Testers~ Absorption: Despite containing oil, it applies lightly, not thick as I expected. It has a texture that's easy to spread thinly. Absorption rate: I applied this product after thoroughly hydrating with toner. Initially, it felt oily on my face, but after 5-10 minutes, it absorbed cleanly. Since it takes up to 10 minutes for complete absorption, it might be challenging to use on busy mornings. Scent: Due to the tamanu oil, it has a herbal scent. It wasn't overwhelmingly off-putting! However, I recommend using it for night care as the scent might transfer to brushes or sponges if used before makeup. Hydration: At first application, I thought, 'Oh? This alone might be enough for hydration!' But after a while, I noticed some deep dryness. Especially for those with combination dehydrated skin like me, it might be difficult to use alone. I recommend applying it after thoroughly hydrating with the 7-skin method or essence serums. The day after applying, I broke out in tiny blemishes ㅜㅜ I thought it was a makeup cleansing issue, so I cleansed more thoroughly and used this product for about 3 more days, but the tiny bumps got worse.. Only then did I realize this product was the problem. When I returned to my usual routine, my skin calmed down.. Therefore, if you have super sensitive skin, it would be good to test it thoroughly before use! For those who find the smell of tamanu oil too overwhelming, this product might be a good option. In terms of scent, it has less of the characteristic herbal smell compared to the pure oil! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 19, 2020
The texture is between a serum and an emulsion. Since I don't typically moisturize much, I can use this after my ampoule, or even use it alone as both an ampoule and emulsion! The ingredients are great, the packaging is lovely, and it has such a fresh, healthy scent. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to agree with my skin. After applying it during the day, by evening I noticed tiny blemishes had spread all over my face. It's my fault for not patch testing on my neck or another area first, as I was too confident in the good ingredients. For reference, I used two pumps on my face. I might have applied too much... As we all know, no matter how good the ingredients are, always patch test on your neck or inner arm first. If there's no irritation, then try it on your face. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 18, 2020
I noticed my skin looked a bit brighter and felt slightly firmer. Unfortunately, it seems like it clogged my pores, as I got some blemishes on my cheeks. That was disappointing. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 17, 2020
# The Hwahae Testers Review # I received the product on February 13th and I'll honestly share my experience after using it for 4 days! Truth be told, I wanted to use it consistently until the 21st, but I had to stop as it didn't suit my skin :(. I have combination dehydrated skin that gets very oily in summer and quite dry in winter, so I always use a serum. I prefer lightweight formulas that I can layer multiple times, as heavy textures make my skin feel uncomfortable. I usually go for formulas with minimal oil and maximum hydration! Although this serum was more oil-rich than I typically prefer, I liked how it seemed to balance my skin's oil and moisture levels well. However, it turns out my skin doesn't need that much oil, so it didn't work for me. * Application :) It applies very smoothly, which made each use a pleasant experience. It feels more oil-rich than hydrating, but unlike typical serums or oils, it has a whipped cream-like texture with a silky finish. * Absorption :) It absorbed better than I expected. Two pumps were enough to cover my entire face without leaving any residue, creating a smooth skin texture as it absorbed. * Moisturizing power :) Perhaps due to its oil content, it felt more moisturizing than regular serums. This might be better suited for dry skin types looking for an oil-rich serum rather than those seeking a hydrating one. It might be a bit heavy for oily skin types. For the first two days, I was thrilled with how it felt, thinking I'd found my holy grail serum... :( The reason for the 3-star rating is that despite not suiting me personally, I felt the product quality was good! Also, the scent might be divisive - it has a natural, herbal fragrance that I initially found off-putting, but later grew to appreciate for its subtlety. In conclusion, while I really liked this serum, it didn't agree with my skin. On the third day, my face started itching and about 7 small blemishes appeared. (I usually get inflammatory acne, but rarely these small bumps.) My skin had been in its best condition recently, but this product seems to have worsened it, so I quickly stopped using it. I'd like to try it more, but I'm afraid of another breakout.. I'll update my review if I try it again :( + Updated 2.20 It seems this product was indeed responsible for the breakout on my face. After returning to my usual skincare routine for about 3 days, my skin feels more stable. The product feels too oil-rich, so if you have oily or normal skin, you should only use one pump for your entire face :( I used two pumps and it caused havoc all over my face.. Please don't apply too much!!! - Hwahae UserOily SkinFeb 17, 2020
Hello! This is my first time writing a review as a member of The Hwahae Testers, so it might not be perfect, but I'll do my best to write a thorough review. First, let me describe my skin condition. For the past three years, my immune system has weakened, and due to prolonged excessive stress, my oil and moisture balance has been disrupted. I've experienced deep dryness and hormonal issues, leading to severe blemishes like closed comedones and inflammatory acne. Being unable to leave my skin alone, I've repeatedly picked at it, causing scars that come and go. My skin seems oily, but it's also extremely dry, so I can't live without moisturizer. I believe I have combination dehydrated skin. When I received this product, my skin had just recovered from inflammatory acne caused by squeezing closed comedones. The inflammation had mostly subsided, leaving behind reddish and dark scars. I still had one inflammatory pimple and some barely visible closed comedones. 1. Tamanu Oil - Improves Pigmentation I've been a long-time follower of Liah Yoo's YouTube channel. Before Krave Beauty was created, I tried The Ordinary's Niacinamide serum that Liah recommended for acne scars. However, after using two bottles, I didn't see much improvement. It actually made my skin drier and caused more closed comedones. I also tried vitamin creams, but they were too rich and only caused blemishes without any benefits. Later, I saw a video praising Tamanu oil. I mixed Sidmool's Tamanu oil with a mild emulsion that didn't have much hydrating power, and it worked quite well. Since Tamanu oil had worked for me before, I applied to test this product. After using it for about 7 days, I can confidently say it's very effective for improving scars. I had been using Numbuzin's Goodbye Blemish Serum for a few months before this, which seemed effective for the first month but didn't show much improvement afterward. With this product, I applied it selectively to specific areas morning and evening for about 3 days. Red scars seemed to disappear in just 3 days, while darker scars need more time but are definitely fading. 2. Deep Dryness / Closed Comedones I have severe deep dryness, so even the mildest, low pH foam or gel cleansers make my skin feel tight. I've bought many cream products but was never satisfied. Actually, before using the Great Barrier Relief, I had been using Etude's renewed Soon Jung cream (which I highly recommend and plan to stick with) that had already solved my deep dryness issues. So, to test this product, I skipped the Soon Jung cream on the first day and applied only the Great Barrier Relief after my toner and other serums. It definitely felt a bit dry and not quite enough. The next day, I noticed some closed comedones appearing and existing ones becoming more noticeable. After that, I only applied it to specific areas instead of all over my face. For those who experience dryness like me, this product alone isn't enough. You'll need to apply an additional cream. It works better when used with a cream. When I used only cream before, I had to apply a lot to reduce dryness, but when I used this product before the cream, even a small amount was sufficient. This suggests that the product isn't completely ineffective for deep dryness. However, for those with oily skin, it might be a bit heavy to apply all over, despite being described as lightweight. Be cautious of potential blemishes. 3. Soothing Effect on Inflammatory Acne After squeezing an inflammatory pimple, the area was very swollen, hot, and painful. I applied this product to that area after cleansing before bed, and the next morning, it was noticeably calmer. While the pustule didn't disappear completely, it had reduced in size and was less painful when touched. 4. Light Texture For a product containing oil, it's incredibly lightweight and fresh. It doesn't feel greasy and applies smoothly. It feels like an emulsion. 5. Contains Ceramides, Squalane, Phytosterols, and Natural Moisturizing Factors When choosing creams or emulsions, I always avoid shea butter and other ingredients that can clog pores on oily skin. This product doesn't contain any of those ingredients I usually avoid, and it includes ceramides and squalane that I always look for. I hadn't heard of phytosterols or natural moisturizing factors before, but since they're components naturally found in our skin, they seem to play a good role. I'm completely satisfied with the ingredients. It even includes oat powder, which is great. Overall, I'm satisfied with this product. To be honest, knowing it contained oil, I expected some closed comedones if I applied it all over my face. While some did appear, it wasn't too bad and didn't completely upset my skin. The ingredients, its effectiveness on pigmentation (which I was most excited about), the enhanced hydration when used with a cream, and its soothing effect after squeezing pimples all met my expectations. I'll likely continue to purchase and use this product in the future. 1. It's important to control the amount you apply. Using too much can lead to closed comedones. 2. The price is quite burdensome. The product isn't particularly large, but at 28,000 won, it's quite expensive. When this product first came out, I had just finished my previous Tamanu oil and really wanted to buy it. However, without being able to test a sample to see if it suited my skin, paying 28,000 won plus shipping was too much of a risk. So I held off on purchasing it. (It would be great if they could provide samples for testing.) 3. Those who dislike the scent of Tamanu oil might find the strong smell off-putting. I don't mind the Tamanu oil scent, and it smells as strong as the 100% oil I used before, which suggests it contains a good amount of Tamanu oil. I actually liked this. 4. Lacks hydration when used alone. To be honest, this product doesn't provide dramatic effects in a short period that would justify its high price. The skin improvements I mentioned above aren't solely due to this product. (I had recently found several products that work well for me, which had already significantly improved my skin.) So initially, I wondered if I would purchase this product again given its small size and high price. However, the reason I'll likely continue to buy it is that I saw some effects that weren't visible before using this product, and in my opinion, it has a very clean ingredient list that shouldn't burden the skin. It seems to work from the inside out, gradually improving the skin beneath the surface rather than just what's visible. Also, having tried two other Krave Beauty products, I trust the company. In any case, this isn't a product that provides dramatic effects in a short time. It probably needs to be used for at least 1-2 months to see results. Rather than a pro tip, I'd suggest that those concerned about the oiliness should apply it sparingly to specific areas like scars or blemishes instead of all over the face. Using it this way, the product should last quite a while. Also, I'm currently using Anua Heartleaf Toner, Numbuzin No.3 Serum, and Etude Soon Jung Cream. I recommend researching these products and considering using them alongside the Great Barrier Relief. They work well together in my skincare routine.
