First off, I definitely think this would be great for oily skin types to prevent deep dryness during seasonal changes or colder weather! While I'll need to use it longer to fully assess its effect on the skin barrier, I absolutely loved how it didn't feel sticky after application. I was worried that being a cream, it might be thick and heavy, but that's not the case at all! And the best part? When I woke up the next morning, my skin felt absolutely amazing! The scent was a bit difficult to get used to at first. It has a somewhat medicinal smell that lingers on your face for a while after application. But honestly, that's the only downside I found - everything else was great! The absorbs so well that if you're worried about it being too heavy, I'd recommend starting with just a small amount! It spreads easily, so you can achieve a thin, even layer with just a little product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinFeb 21, 2020
After a month of use: I've gone through about half the container! When my skin isn't in terrible condition, it usually bounces back quickly. However, the area where my KF94 mask touches my cheeks is severely cracked and chapped. Despite consistent application, it's not improving, unfortunately. The rest of my skin looks great though! As a Hwahae Tester winner, I'm providing an honest review with nothing but the truth! Skin type: Combination (oily T-zone, very dry cheeks) Favorite ingredients: Tea tree, products containing Cica Texture: It has a somewhat rich consistency and is quite heavy (it absorbs well after about 30 seconds) This helps strengthen the skin barrier more effectively One pump is enough to cover the entire face! Scent: It smells exactly like Madecassol ointment Initially, I found it off-putting, but the product works so well that I got used to it Application routine: Sulwhasoo Essential Balancing Water - Krave Beauty Barrier Cream - Beyond Cica Cream As someone with combination skin, my T-zone is oily enough to handle winter, but my cheeks get extremely chapped, red, and irritated Especially now with mask-wearing, the hot breath constantly hitting my cheeks makes my skin struggle even more I decided to try this product because I heard it has excellent regenerative and soothing properties At first, I wondered if I could use it long-term due to the smell But the results were so apparent that I could overlook the scent My skin is so sensitive that I can't use just any product, and I get severe redness on my cheeks as soon as I get home With this product, my cheeks initially felt hot and painful But after a day or two, I could feel my skin improving from within And my makeup applied so much better! Curious about its regenerative effects, I consistently applied it every night to a very dry, chapped area on my arm I was amazed... No other emulsion had worked, but this made my skin so soft... So I've decided to trust Krave Beauty! I'll definitely repurchase! My mother also used it after her basic skincare routine and said it was good! The photos show: after toner - after this product - after a few days of use with makeup on The scent was the biggest drawback That Madecassol smell... I just can't get used to it, even after continued use But I keep using it because it works so well! - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 21, 2020
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers! My skin is combination type, so after cleansing, I experience deep dryness and it feels dehydrated. While using an emulsion helps, if it doesn't absorb well, it leaves an oily residue. However, with the Great Barrier Relief, when I first applied it and gently patted my face, I could feel my skin drinking it up! Though it may vary for different skin types, I was worried about excess oil, but after 5 minutes, it was fully absorbed! There was no deep dryness after absorption either! I prefer to focus on my nighttime routine, so I only applied it in the evening. After application, there's no greasiness at all, just a slight Inner Glow?! My skin has a natural radiance!! It's the first time I've seen a glow that's not from oil, and I absolutely love it! 1. Longevity ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was concerned because it absorbed quickly after one application, but even after waking up, there was zero tightness! It stays hydrated without reapplication! 2. Oil control ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At first, it seemed a bit rich, but after about 5 minutes, there was no shine at all - perfect! 3. Application ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It applies smoothly, similar to an emulsion~ 1. Scent ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The smell is a bit like cooking oil, if that makes sense? I can tell it's an oil scent, but it's slightly disappointing.. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinFeb 19, 2020
I'm thrilled to share my review as one of The Hwahae Testers! Absorption: Unlike some serums or ampoules that can feel heavy or greasy, this product has a lighter, emulsion-like texture. It glides on smoothly without any irritation. I didn't experience any burning or itching sensation when applying it to my face. Effectiveness: I had a dark acne scar on my right cheek, and it's improved so much it's almost gone now! Hydration: When I apply it after cleansing and toner before bed, it doesn't feel particularly moisturizing. It might be a bit on the drier side. If you apply a generous amount, it gives your skin a subtle glow. Skin Type: I have normal skin without acne, but my sister has combination skin with acne and atopy. I applied it generously to help with her acne. She didn't experience any irritation or itching, and her skin didn't break out or worsen. In fact, her skin calmed down and improved significantly. Quantity: We used one to two pumps daily for two weeks between the two of us. The bottle contains 45ml of product. The initial scent when using the product reminds me of the smell of rice cake wrapping paper from a rice cake shop. The fragrance isn't particularly pleasant, unfortunately. Since I don't have acne, I mainly applied it to my sister who's going through puberty, but she disliked it because of the smell. It's similar to the scent of Innisfree's Volcanic Clay Mask. To counteract the somewhat unpleasant smell, you could try using a nicely scented perfume or cosmetic product around your philtrum area. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 17, 2020
I've heard that Tamanu oil helps regenerate the skin barrier and has anti-inflammatory effects. That's probably why, after using it morning and evening for just over 5 days, my skin has calmed down significantly from the irritation caused by fine dust and mask-wearing! My blemishes have also subsided. I've heard it's good to use consistently, so I'm planning to finish the whole bottle. It's also said to be effective for hyperpigmentation, so I've been applying it like crazy to the dark spots left by my shingles. I feel like they've lightened a bit, but I'll need to use up the whole bottle to really tell. Usually, I get a bunch of acne and blemishes before my period, but I'm not breaking out at all now! The texture isn't exactly light (for my combination skin, with only an oily T-zone). I expected this due to the oil content. In the morning, when I used to do essence + moisturizer + makeup, adding this made my makeup pill. So I switched to essence + this + makeup, and it worked well without pilling. It's not too heavy for nighttime use. When I layer it over my moisturizer at night, I wake up with hydrated skin. (Though it's a bit oily before my morning cleanse!) 1. The scent As someone sensitive to fragrances, this is truly the only downside. I get that it's because of the Tamanu oil, but when you wear this out, you smell like angelica root... lol Thankfully, in the morning, it gets masked by makeup scents. But at night, it overpowers all other skincare smells. It's like having angelica root stuck to your nose... sigh... Sometimes it's even nauseating, but I'll endure it for the skin benefits. 2. The container opening As others have pointed out, the product opening needs attention. If you're not careful when squeezing, it gets all over the nozzle. So you need to be mindful when using it. I haven't discovered any special tips yet, but I can share some precautions. If you're applying this before makeup, don't use it with a moisturizer or emulsion. It gets too oily and makes your makeup pill. Just a light serum + two pumps of this should be enough. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 13, 2020
The Hwahae Testers review: I became interested in oils after watching Ria Yu's YouTube channel and tried rosehip oil, but it didn't provide any moisturizing or blemish-soothing effects for me, so I stopped using it. This product contains not only rosehip but also argan oil, which I'm trying for the first time. Since it's designed for soothing and hydration, I thought it might be suitable for acne-prone skin, so I applied to be a Hwahae Tester. 1. First, it absorbs exceptionally well. One pump is enough to cover the entire face. 2. The texture is slightly creamy rather than liquid, making it easy to apply. 3. It didn't trigger any breakouts. This product made me realize once again that natural oils don't suit my skin... While I didn't feel any tightness immediately after application, after about an hour, I started to experience a strange drying sensation and slight itchiness, so I don't think it's suitable as a moisturizer. It also didn't help with reducing redness from blemishes. Moreover, the scent was a bit off-putting. It reminded me of cooking oil. For those who typically respond well to natural oils, this cream-like oil formulation could be a convenient option to use.
