My T-zone has enlarged pores due to blackheads, excess sebum, and over-extraction. Without proper pore care, my skin becomes rough, and blackheads and sebum accumulate, creating a bumpy texture. It tends to be oily. My U-zone is dry. As I've aged, my skin has thinned, and I always have redness due to rosacea. I have a large sun spot near my ear, unfortunately. Freckles and blemishes are noticeable but not severe. Packaging: It's plastic with a twist-off cap. There's an additional seal under the cap. Since it's a toner, the wide opening is expected. It's best to dispense the product and wipe off any excess with your hands, cotton pad, or tissue. Ingredients: Since discovering Hwahae, I've become more ingredient-conscious. I appreciate that there are no caution ingredients. It contains many powerful moisturizing components, and adenosine (for anti-aging) is listed near the top, which is great for me as a late 30s user with overall dryness and loss of elasticity around the cheeks. Scent: It reminds me of the fragrances often found in luxury cosmetics and perfume sections of department stores. It's somewhat similar to men's skincare scents. The scent is noticeable when applied but becomes subtle over time, which I don't mind. Texture: I expected it to be heavy since it's an essence toner, but it's not at all. It has more body than an exfoliating toner but is lighter and more fluid than a liquid toner, with a slightly off-white color. Price: It's pricier than regular toners, but understandable given its functional properties and 200ml size. It came with a 5-layer cotton pad set, though I'm not sure if this is always included. Price: 30,000 won. User experience: After cleansing, I sprayed on mist, used an exfoliating toner on my T-zone, then did a skin pack. I used the 5-layer cotton pads, which I'm familiar with from other brands. For an even application, it's best to soak the pads in a container rather than using your palms to avoid wrinkling. The adherence was good. After 10 minutes, my dry cheek and nose areas felt exfoliated without flaking. I sometimes get blemishes after sheet masks, but this didn't irritate my rosacea-prone cheeks. No blemishes appeared, and redness slightly decreased. The 5-layer cotton pads seem to be good quality. My skin usually feels tight after cleansing, but after the skin pack, it felt deeply hydrated in dry areas without stickiness, leaving a soft finish. The texture works well for both skin packs and as an absorption toner. It's lightweight and can be layered multiple times without pilling, allowing for buildable hydration. Its lightness and ability to address dry areas make it suitable as a first step after cleansing.
ConsThe inclusion of cotton pads suggests it's best used as a skin pack, but doing so quickly depletes the product. While it claims anti-aging benefits, I haven't noticed significant improvements in elasticity yet, though I haven't finished the bottle. Expecting firming effects from a toner might be unrealistic - it's not a serum or essence, after all. While the price isn't bad for the volume and functionality, 30,000 won still feels expensive. With so many affordable, high-quality products available these days, I'm not sure I'd choose this functional essence toner at this price point again. Although I haven't experienced any blemishes, as someone who prioritizes ingredients, I'm concerned about the small amounts of potentially irritating or allergenic components. The orange and lavender oils worry me, especially for sensitive skin.
TipUsing it as the first step after cleansing provides a hydrating effect. For skin packs, it's much better to fully saturate the pad in a clean, wide container before use. This ensures better adherence without wrinkles.

It doesn't run like water, which made it great for the 3-skin method. When using it for a skin pack with the included 5-layer cotton pads, it felt less burdensome. -Scent This is what I'm really satisfied with. No alcohol smell! With other toners, even those claiming to be close to single-ingredient products, the lingering alcohol scent was quite bothersome. This product doesn't have that issue. Whether I'm using it with a cotton pad or patting it into my skin, the lack of fragrance allowed for a pleasant finish. -Hydration It's so moisturizing! I have combination dehydrated skin. Usually, the 7-skin method is a bit much for me, so I stick to 3 layers with most toners. This product, however, doesn't feel oily at all. It provides a lot of hydration and leaves my skin feeling wonderfully moisturized. -Absorption Since it's not completely watery, I was a bit worried when I first dispensed it onto my palm. But it absorbs quickly without any stickiness. After patting it in a few times, you can feel it adhering to your skin and being absorbed. Some toners can feel heavy, making it burdensome to apply emulsion or cream afterwards, but this wasn't an issue at all with this product.
ConsI didn't find any particular downsides. I'm not sure about its wrinkle improvement effects, but that's because The Hwahae Testers evaluation period is only two weeks. I think I'd need to use up an entire bottle consistently to judge that aspect. If I had to pick something, maybe the quantity? I really enjoyed using it for skin packs, so I wondered if they might consider releasing a larger size.
TipWhen you soak the Lagom 5-layer cotton pad generously and use it as a skin pack, your skin becomes incredibly firm the next day. I soaked the pad thoroughly, placed it on my face, and then added a bit more toner on top to keep it moist. Since it's not a watery formula, you can easily layer more toner on your face. It was more effective than most sheet masks I've tried. For those with oily skin, the 3-skin method is enough instead of the 7-skin method! On mornings when I didn't wear makeup, I finished my skincare routine with just this toner!

I usually don't prefer liquid toners as I tend to spill more, but the Lagom Cellus Revive Essence Toner, while it does run when applied to the back of the hand, isn't completely liquid, making it convenient to apply! ❗️Scent As I'm not particularly sensitive to fragrances, I found it pleasant. It has a subtle, baby powder-like scent! I appreciated that it doesn't have that typical alcohol smell often found in cosmetics. ❗️Ingredients To be honest, I'm not well-versed in cosmetic ingredients, so I prefer to try products and observe changes in my skin rather than reading the back of containers. I used this product alone for my skincare routine after receiving it. After a week of use, my sensitive skin didn't react negatively or develop any blemishes. The toner itself is very hydrating, so I didn't experience any dryness or tightness even as time passed. However, it's certainly not as comprehensive as using a toner with other skincare products! I only received the Lagom Cellus Revive Essence Toner and cotton pads as part of The Hwahae Testers program, but I think using it with the emulsion from the same line would be even better! ❗️Packaging Perhaps due to its thicker consistency, the packaging is clean and designed for easy dispensing, making it convenient to use just the right amount.
Cons❗️Functionality The product packaging claims to have anti-wrinkle and skin firming effects, but honestly, I couldn't really notice these benefits, possibly because I only used it for a week. Rather than a functional toner, it's more of a simple, clean toner that's easy to use without much thought!
Tip❗️Cotton Pads I'm sure everyone uses cotton pads when applying toner, and this product seems to absorb particularly well when used with cotton pads. Personally, while I found the toner itself nice and clean, I was even more impressed with the 5-layer cotton pads that came with it. They have better absorption than the basic cotton pads I usually use and seem to pair well with the Lagom Cellus Revive Essence Toner.

Although they said I didn't have to write a review, I was so satisfied during use that I decided to share my thoughts. My skin type is combination, and I tend to have dry skin in winter. The texture is essence-like, slightly thinner than mucus. The 5-layer cotton pads provided were thick but could be separated as needed, which I found very practical. It leaves the skin feeling moisturized and hydrated. I've struggled with inflammatory blemishes in the past, and while they've mostly subsided, I still worry about breakouts when using oily products. I liked that this essence provided just enough hydration without excess oil. It contains adenosine, an anti-wrinkle ingredient, but honestly, I couldn't see much improvement in wrinkles over two weeks. During use, I didn't experience any blemishes. In fact, my skin, which had become rough due to less frequent exfoliation during the pandemic, seemed to become softer and more hydrated thanks to the cotton pads and toner. The 5-layer cotton pads were thick but easy to separate, so I could use one or two layers as needed, making them very practical. This Lagom Revive Essence Toner has a clean, moisturizing finish that I think is perfect for this weather. While it's not the cheapest option, I expect to use it happily for a while. If it continues to prevent blemishes and shows effects on wrinkles and elasticity, I'd definitely consider repurchasing! Thank you for this great toner.
Cons1. I didn't notice any significant wrinkle improvement after two weeks of use. I can't confidently say it had an effect on wrinkles yet. 2. The scent... It's not unpleasant, but it reminds me of my dad's skincare products for some reason. 3. I checked on Hwahae and found out it contains some potential allergens. While I didn't have any skin issues, it's a bit disappointing.
TipI found it worked well when applied with cotton pads. It would be perfect for soaking the skin or doing a toner mask.
