I bought it because it's popular, but it's just okay. The staying power is average, but I guess it's decent value for money.
ConsI don't reach for it often... It makes my skin feel stiff and gives a strong cakey sensation.

It definitely doesn't leave a white cast after setting, so it should be possible to use it on its own.
ConsIt sets very stiffly. The formula is quite sticky, so when you try to brush your lashes upwards, they clump together. Attempting to separate them only makes them stick more, resulting in thick, stiff lashes that are impossible to work with once set. You can't apply mascara over it at that point, so you have to give up. It's a bit of a paradox - the product isn't good enough to use alone without mascara, but once you use this fixer, you can't not use mascara. The curling effect is hit or miss. From my experience, the staying power of the curl varies day to day. Sometimes the left side doesn't droop, other times the left droops but the right doesn't. When it does hold, it's not a super firm curl, but it's better than not using anything at all. The inconsistency makes me unsure about repurchasing. It's also inconvenient to use as a mascara substitute. Some people say they use it instead of mascara, but I'm not sure how. When I tried, it just made my lashes clump together thickly, making it impossible to use as a mascara replacement.
