TipIt provides good hydration. The serum is a bit drier than just a hydrating serum, but it pairs well with retinol and cica products. That's why I'm applying this and then following up with a soothing cream.

Effectiveness I've seen noticeable results faster with this than any other retinol product. While most over-the-counter retinol cosmetics typically take at least a month to show significant changes, this product amazingly delivered the smooth skin expected from retinol in just 3-4 days. Although the concentration isn't high, I'd recommend this to anyone looking for moderate retinol benefits. 2. Price This is The Ordinary's biggest advantage. It's exceptionally affordable compared to its ingredients and effectiveness. 3. Sensitivity Even though my skin doesn't usually react strongly to retinol, I sometimes feel irritation when my skin condition isn't great. However, this product was gentle enough to use regardless of my skin's condition. I appreciated its low irritation level relative to its effectiveness.
Cons1. Texture While some oiliness is necessary to stabilize retinol, this is excessively greasy. It feels like applying pure oil and has a runny consistency that easily drips from the forehead into the eyes when spreading it on the face. Even when applied far from the eye area, it somehow manages to sneak its way in. Wiping doesn't help - it still finds its way to the eyes. This product taught me that good spreadability can actually be a drawback. 2. Eye Irritation As someone who can't even handle organic sunscreens due to eye sensitivity, having this product seep into my eyes? It's a tear-inducing experience. That's why this has become my 'apply right before bed and immediately lie down with eyes closed' product.
Tip- The Ordinary is ideal when you're solely focused on effectiveness. It's a brand I strongly recommend for those who want skincare that delivers on ingredients. Just be prepared to compromise on the user experience.

While it doesn't shrink pores, it seems to manage sebum and have an effect on blackheads. I can't speak to its wrinkle improvement or complexion-evening effects, possibly because I use it too sporadically. The squalane allows it to spread incredibly smoothly. Initially, I used very little, which didn't seem to do much. However, when I applied it more generously, I definitely noticed an improvement in skin texture. My skin looks noticeably smoother. Although I thought it might be too rich, I didn't feel direct dryness when using this alone. Still, I preferred layering a cream on top. The squalane feels like it's there to reduce irritation. I used to love The Ordinary's Vitamin C products, but I've barely touched them since starting this. I might just settle on this product now... At first, it felt a bit rich, but it's so much easier to apply.
ConsThere's not much to dislike. The initial richness from the squalane might be off-putting at first. While it's rich, it's not quite enough when used alone.

To sum up the effects: Great for retinol beginners! Skin becomes smooth and soft! No stinging or adverse reactions! Not recommended for oily skin due to its rich feel. I was looking for a retinol product to start with, but got scared after hearing about potential skin irritation. That's when I found this product while exploring other options. From the first use, it made my skin feel like I'd slept with a sleeping pack on - smooth and soft, with a subtle inner glow rising from within. The instructions say to apply it after toner and before cream, but it's so rich that you can skip the cream. While I'm not a fan of oily textures, I have to admit the effects are undeniable...
ConsIt's very rich! That's why I don't recommend it for oily skin types. It feels like applying a thick oil, but by morning it's all absorbed, leaving your skin smooth. The amount seems a bit small, but considering the price, it might be okay...? I'll use it more and update my review later.

The texture is neither heavy nor sticky, enough to convert even an oil-phobic person like me. And its ability to make your skin smooth overnight... I'm 100% ready to repurchase, but I'm holding off a bit after hearing that pregnant women or those who might become pregnant should be even more cautious with retinoids than retinol.
ConsDespite claims of minimizing skin irritation, my skin still becomes more sensitive compared to when I'm not using it.
TipEvery evening, I apply a generous amount of Matrixyl followed by 3-4 drops of this, and it provides ample hydration and nourishment!
