With consistent use, I could visibly see an improvement in my enlarged pores. Despite containing 2% retinol, it didn't cause any irritation. It's also one of the more affordable retinol serums out there, making it a great entry-level option for those new to retinol.
Cons- When I first started using it, I really disliked the scent. - It seems you need to use it 'consistently' to see results. When I stopped using it for a while, my skin reverted back to its original state.
TipI didn't use it daily, but rather every other day along with Lidl Shot (100).

It also has a pore-minimizing effect. Texture and application - Light, fluid-like ampoule that glides on easily. Hydration - It can draw moisture from the face, leaving it slightly dry. This is characteristic of retinol-based products.
ConsThe 0.2% concentration is for intermediate to advanced users. Those with sensitive skin should be cautious as it may cause peeling, flaking, or redness. Use with knowledge and care.
TipAfter applying the retinol product, allow it to absorb for about 2 minutes, then follow up with a regenerating cream. This can further support your skin's renewal cycle.

Irritation If you visit The Ordinary's official website, you'll find an explanation of the difference between retinoid and retinol serums. Retinoids come in 2% and 5% concentrations and are slightly pricier as they're developed to maintain retinol's effectiveness while minimizing side effects. Retinol comes in 0.2%, 0.5%, and 1% concentrations, with most people starting at 0.2% and gradually increasing. While The Ordinary recommends using retinoids, many seem to start with 0.2% retinol. The website claims 'no irritation,' but it's not entirely irritation-free. There's a slight burning sensation, but it doesn't cause breakouts or blemishes. If you have sensitive skin and are worried about using retinol, I recommend starting with this product. 2. Effectiveness I was initially skeptical about The Ordinary's claims of maximizing retinol's effects while reducing side effects with their retinoid formula, unsure of its verification. However, I experienced definite results.
ConsIt's not completely free of irritation. Right after application, there's a burning sensation, and some areas may develop slight redness. The product information states that sebum production might increase initially, and indeed, I experienced many blemishes two days after starting use. I had to pause for a day and use soothing products. It's necessary to adjust usage based on your skin's condition.
TipUse an appropriate amount in the evening (indoor lighting is fine, avoid sunlight) along with a hyaluronic acid or niacinamide serum, followed by a moisturizing, soothing cream. In the morning, cleanse with a gentle cleanser. + It seems the original product has been discontinued and replaced with an emulsion. While it's said to be safe for daily use, the peak skin improvements are typically seen after about two weeks of use. Skin texture improves, pores appear smaller, and sebum production seems to decrease. However, after using it for more than two weeks, you might wake up feeling like your skin has thinned, with small red blemishes appearing, suggesting it affects the skin barrier. It's important to adjust usage accordingly. Most importantly, if you stop using it for about a week, your skin completely reverts to its original state... It's best to use it consistently while adjusting the frequency as needed.

It's effective at smoothing out skin texture and somewhat helps with pores.
ConsIt leaves my face feeling a bit greasy. I think I need to be more careful with how much I apply.

While it doesn't shrink pores, it seems to manage sebum and have an effect on blackheads. I can't speak to its wrinkle improvement or complexion-evening effects, possibly because I use it too sporadically. The squalane allows it to spread incredibly smoothly. Initially, I used very little, which didn't seem to do much. However, when I applied it more generously, I definitely noticed an improvement in skin texture. My skin looks noticeably smoother. Although I thought it might be too rich, I didn't feel direct dryness when using this alone. Still, I preferred layering a cream on top. The squalane feels like it's there to reduce irritation. I used to love The Ordinary's Vitamin C products, but I've barely touched them since starting this. I might just settle on this product now... At first, it felt a bit rich, but it's so much easier to apply.
ConsThere's not much to dislike. The initial richness from the squalane might be off-putting at first. While it's rich, it's not quite enough when used alone.

Retinol is known to be great for improving pores and wrinkles, and I like that this contains 2% of it.
ConsThe way it absorbs is really disappointing, which makes me reluctant to use it. No matter how much I pat it in, it doesn't seem to absorb and just sits on top of my skin, leaving it greasy.

I originally have large pores, and if I slack off on skincare even a little, I get blackheads and enlarged pores. Lately, due to wearing masks, my skin has been in terrible shape. The humid and hot environment under the mask has really stretched out my T-zone. However, after using this product for about a week, I can feel some improvement in elasticity in the morning. I'm truly amazed by how visible the effects are. On top of that, with the hydration and moisturizing effects of squalane, I don't even need to use creams or emulsions anymore.
ConsIt's a thin, transparent yellow liquid with an oily feel. When applied to the face, it makes your complexion appear slightly yellow. I'm quite sensitive to even small changes in skin tone, so I only use it in the evening and not for morning makeup.
TipYou can mix it with your serums from previous steps to create a more emulsion-like texture that's easier to apply!

After an intense search for my first retinol product, I decided to try this one. Long story short, I'm extremely satisfied. It's perfect for retinol beginners. The squalane oil in it leaves a bit of residue after application, but that actually helps keep the skin's moisture from evaporating. Overall, my skin's elasticity and texture have improved. The amount is really generous too - I used it three times a week and it still lasted nearly 3 months! I'm so pleased that I bought another bottle. This will be my go-to anti-aging product for a while.
ConsThe granactive retinoid absorbs really well. The downside is that it's completely runny, so it easily gets into your eyes. It stings a lot. Other than that, it's excellent.
