The next morning, I notice my blemishes have shrunk and there's a definite improvement in my skin texture.
ConsIt's a bit disappointing that you have to use it all within 3 months after opening. I'll need to use it more generously. As for pore reduction, I'm not sure if I've seen any significant changes yet.

Irritation If you visit The Ordinary's official website, you'll find an explanation of the difference between retinoid and retinol serums. Retinoids come in 2% and 5% concentrations and are slightly pricier as they're developed to maintain retinol's effectiveness while minimizing side effects. Retinol comes in 0.2%, 0.5%, and 1% concentrations, with most people starting at 0.2% and gradually increasing. While The Ordinary recommends using retinoids, many seem to start with 0.2% retinol. The website claims 'no irritation,' but it's not entirely irritation-free. There's a slight burning sensation, but it doesn't cause breakouts or blemishes. If you have sensitive skin and are worried about using retinol, I recommend starting with this product. 2. Effectiveness I was initially skeptical about The Ordinary's claims of maximizing retinol's effects while reducing side effects with their retinoid formula, unsure of its verification. However, I experienced definite results.
ConsIt's not completely free of irritation. Right after application, there's a burning sensation, and some areas may develop slight redness. The product information states that sebum production might increase initially, and indeed, I experienced many blemishes two days after starting use. I had to pause for a day and use soothing products. It's necessary to adjust usage based on your skin's condition.
TipUse an appropriate amount in the evening (indoor lighting is fine, avoid sunlight) along with a hyaluronic acid or niacinamide serum, followed by a moisturizing, soothing cream. In the morning, cleanse with a gentle cleanser. + It seems the original product has been discontinued and replaced with an emulsion. While it's said to be safe for daily use, the peak skin improvements are typically seen after about two weeks of use. Skin texture improves, pores appear smaller, and sebum production seems to decrease. However, after using it for more than two weeks, you might wake up feeling like your skin has thinned, with small red blemishes appearing, suggesting it affects the skin barrier. It's important to adjust usage accordingly. Most importantly, if you stop using it for about a week, your skin completely reverts to its original state... It's best to use it consistently while adjusting the frequency as needed.

Leaves skin smooth with decent hydration.
ConsOh no! It's temporarily out of stock due to ingredient supply issues. I'm dying of anxiety here!
TipIt provides good hydration. The serum is a bit drier than just a hydrating serum, but it pairs well with retinol and cica products. That's why I'm applying this and then following up with a soothing cream.

It's effective at smoothing out skin texture and somewhat helps with pores.
ConsIt leaves my face feeling a bit greasy. I think I need to be more careful with how much I apply.

While it doesn't shrink pores, it seems to manage sebum and have an effect on blackheads. I can't speak to its wrinkle improvement or complexion-evening effects, possibly because I use it too sporadically. The squalane allows it to spread incredibly smoothly. Initially, I used very little, which didn't seem to do much. However, when I applied it more generously, I definitely noticed an improvement in skin texture. My skin looks noticeably smoother. Although I thought it might be too rich, I didn't feel direct dryness when using this alone. Still, I preferred layering a cream on top. The squalane feels like it's there to reduce irritation. I used to love The Ordinary's Vitamin C products, but I've barely touched them since starting this. I might just settle on this product now... At first, it felt a bit rich, but it's so much easier to apply.
ConsThere's not much to dislike. The initial richness from the squalane might be off-putting at first. While it's rich, it's not quite enough when used alone.

My skin had been in terrible condition for weeks, and I tried everything. Then I applied a few drops of this product before bed, and the next day my skin texture was completely transformed.
ConsAfter applying this, my face feels itchy and dry. However, it's manageable if you moisturize well.
TipMake sure to use this alongside a hydrating product!

I've been using it for three months now, and I can feel the difference when I touch my face during my morning cleanse. It feels silky smooth and supple. I've had sensitive, blemish-prone skin since puberty, and I've pretty much given up on my pores. Now that I'm older and have had a child, my hormones seem to have changed. While I've outgrown acne, I'm now focusing my skincare routine on improving my skin texture. (Whitening and anti-aging are still a dream for me!) No matter how meticulously I cleansed or how carefully I applied makeup, my rough skin texture always bothered me. It felt unpleasant to touch, and although my makeup looked good right after application, it would separate in both summer and winter. I didn't actually buy this product specifically for texture improvement. I was looking to add an oil to my skincare routine as we transitioned from fall to winter, and I stumbled upon this. It had unexpected benefits. Not only does it provide sufficient hydration, but it has also improved my skin texture, which makes me so happy. My skin has a glow when I apply makeup now. And the price is really reasonable!
ConsThere's nothing really bad about it, but if I had to nitpick, it's that you can only purchase it online.
TipI've been told not to apply retinoid products during the day, so I only used it at night. But I'm so satisfied that I want to use it during the day too. If you do, make sure to apply sunscreen even if you're staying indoors. Here's a tip: I usually react to all types of oils, but I decided to try squalane oil for extra hydration in cold weather because I had such a good experience with Esnature's Squalane Cream. (I still use it in my daily routine and I'm on my third or fourth jar.) As expected, the squalane oil suited my skin perfectly without causing any blemishes. Unlike other plant-based oils, it doesn't sit on top of the skin - if you keep patting it in, it absorbs beautifully. Oh, and I pat any excess oil left on my hands onto my neck. My neck skin used to be a bit rough, and I didn't pay much attention to it before. But since using this oil, even my neck feels silky smooth when I touch it.

You can definitely notice your complexion brightening up after waking up. 2. It's clear that your skin texture improves as well. 3. Too much of a good thing can be bad - I got greedy and applied too much, which led to skin irritation and blemishes. Contrary to my worries, I'm generally satisfied with this product.
ConsThe scent... this inexplicably unpleasant smell... If it weren't for this, I'd be completely satisfied with the product overall.
TipMix it properly and apply in moderation! If you slather it on like I did... you'll end up with blemishes.

Usually, when you read reviews for retinol products, people mention skin peeling or only using it once or twice a week. But this product seems to be stabilized, as I experienced zero irritation. I've been using it every evening without any stinging or discomfort. - Affordable price. - After about a month of use, my skin texture has visibly improved and feels more plump, even noticeable to others. Once I finish this product, I plan to purchase and try the 5% version.
Cons- Nothing particularly bad, but it has a slippery texture similar to face oil. Oh! It can sting a bit if it gets into your eyes.
