The dry skin alert season has begun, like an air raid siren! I went to the department store for the first time in ages and splurged without any discounts. To be honest, all three Clarins oils I tested were quite underwhelming compared to their fame... just my personal opinion though. Even though I don't have dry skin, the sales associate said my skin looked parched, so I'm using the richer Lotus oil now. The scent might be polarizing, reminiscent of a Southeast Asian herbal market. Despite being for dry skin, it's not as sticky or greasy as I expected when using just a drop or two. It doesn't leave a fresh finish either. There's a slight feeling that it sits on top of the skin rather than absorbing... When used alone, it leaves a slippery finish. I definitely recommend mixing it with a cream or emulsion. I don't understand why they use clear glass bottles instead of light-blocking amber ones. I get that hazelnut oil is expensive, but looking at just the base oil ingredients, it's not particularly impressive. Due to oxidation, it's recommended to use it all within 6 months of opening. The pro tip is to apply it generously. - go******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 28, 2022
I absolutely adore this product because of its scent. Despite being an oil, it feels surprisingly light! I honestly couldn't live without it. I bet most people who use this feel the same way. It's amazing that this product has remained unchanged for at least 20 years. But then again, why change a good thing when it comes to oils, right? I've purchased it through various platforms over the years, and interestingly, the price has actually become more affordable. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try! When I'm tired, it tends to sit on top of my skin. In those cases, I either skip it entirely or use it only as part of my nighttime routine. The glass bottle is nice, but being transparent, it can affect the product's shelf life. Compared to opaque containers, I feel like it doesn't last quite as long. I once stocked up on it and found myself in a bit of a pickle! While it's an oil, it's not overly greasy. However, there are times when it doesn't absorb well. In those cases, using a sebum-free powder to control the oiliness can be helpful. I avoid using it for bare-faced outings. On the plus side, it's great for lifting your mood! - yu********Dry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMar 21, 2021
Even though I have somewhat sensitive skin, using this product actually helps clear up existing blemishes! While the price is a bit disappointing, I'm absolutely thrilled with the high quality of the product. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedNov 9, 2020
As someone with dry skin, I love how it deeply hydrates, leaving my skin feeling moisturized from within. I'm so satisfied with this product that I can't think of any downsides. It works great when mixed with essence for better absorption. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinNov 1, 2020
When my skin felt dry even after applying cream, I tried layering this oil thinly on top. It wasn't too greasy and worked well. It seems nothing beats oil for enhancing the longevity of base skincare products. The ingredients are not good at all. Fragrance is listed as the third ingredient... I'm worried that using it for a long time might cause more blemishes, so I'm planning to switch to something else. - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedAug 17, 2020
It doesn't cause blemishes, and when mixed with cream, it maintains a good oil and moisture balance The main drawback is probably the price. Without duty-free opportunities, you have to spend around $50 - qk******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinOct 6, 2019
If you have super sensitive skin, make sure to try a sample before purchasing! I learned this the hard way. The ingredients are truly terrible. From now on, I'll definitely check the ingredients on Hwahae before buying anything... I went to a department store and got persuaded by the salesperson who said all the natural oil ingredients were great. After using it once, I ended up at the doctor's with red hives all over my face. I'm so upset about this experience. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMay 27, 2019
I was worried this oil would leave my face feeling greasy and coated. But after cleansing and toning, applying this feels incredibly refreshing. I love that it doesn't feel like I've applied an oil at all. One tip though - for the best makeup application, I've found it's best to apply this about 30 minutes before putting on makeup. I'm about 60% through the product and honestly, I can't think of any downsides yet. It's been working well for me without any issues. It's fantastic when you layer an emulsion over this. Everything absorbs so well. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMay 21, 2019
Perfect for applying to your body during fall, winter, or seasonal changes. It's almost too precious to use on its own, so I like to add a few drops to my body emulsion. It leaves my skin feeling wonderfully hydrated! It does feel a bit on the pricey side. Though they say that's the norm for body products these days, I still think it's worth the investment. - ru*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 27, 2019
It provides excellent hydration without feeling greasy, which is why I've gone through more than 3 bottles. The scent is absolutely lovely. I have combination-sensitive skin, and it's never caused any blemishes. The price...? Other than that, I can't think of anything negative to say. It's convenient to mix a drop with your emulsion or foundation for easy application.
