The scent is also that soothing cica fragrance! For someone with oily skin like me, this is much more satisfying than low pH cleansers that can feel slippery and less effective.
ConsI can't say I've noticed any effect on blemishes, unfortunately. If you have dry skin, you might experience some tightness after cleansing.
TipTo minimize skin tightness, try working up a rich lather and rinsing with lukewarm water.

In summer, it feels like combination dehydrated in some areas, and in winter, it's more like slightly dry skin! Advantages: 1. It really cleanses squeaky clean! Right after washing, your skin feels like baby skin - bright and soft! Despite the thorough cleansing, it doesn't irritate the skin at all, which is great! 2. It has excellent cleansing effectiveness! Looking at the before and after photos below, you can see foundation and lipstick removal. The foundation is completely removed, and only a slight tint remains from the lipstick! (Espoir Be Silk, MAC lipstick) 3. It doesn't irritate even if it gets in your eyes! I tend to get cleansers in my eyes while washing, but this one doesn't sting at all and feels fine! 4. No artificial fragrance! The cleansing foam only has a subtle herbal scent, without any artificial fragrances, which is great! The herbal scent is also quite mild and pleasant.
Cons1. This foam cleanser seems better suited for those with oily skin! After cleansing, I applied my usual toner + moisturizer + emulsion, but even with the emulsion, it felt a bit dry! If I, with my slightly dry skin, felt this way, it might be more suitable for those with oily skin rather than dry skin types.
TipMix it with plenty of water to create a rich lather!

While it didn't completely remove mascara, it effectively cleaned off other point makeup. I usually only use cleansing water, and when I've tried other brands' cleansing foams, they often left makeup residue. However, Viv's cleansing foam did a thorough job. My face definitely feels squeaky clean after washing. The foam is soft and rich, which I think contributes to its cleansing power. I was worried that being a vegan product, it might not lather well, but the foam was actually creamy and dense. The cica scent is really strong! Personally, I love it (though it might be polarizing). My family members all enjoyed the fragrance too.
ConsIt doesn't seem suitable for sensitive skin, unfortunately. While I'm no longer getting large blemishes, I'm still struggling with folliculitis. Whether it's due to my cycle or not, I suffered from both small and large blemishes appearing together. I tried this product because of the cica ingredient, but it was disappointing. For reference, I use other brands' cica products without issues. On the flip side, my mom, who has dry but not sensitive skin, really liked it. She was quite satisfied with the strong cica scent and the creamy, soft foam.

After cleansing, I immediately felt my skin become squeaky clean. It actually helps to some extent with oil control and soothing the skin. However, being a cleansing foam, don't expect dramatic effects. For best results, pair it with other oily skin products in your routine for synergy. It doesn't completely remove makeup, so you'll need to double cleanse with a cleansing water or other product. The scent is somewhat medicinal, but not unpleasant - it actually makes you feel like the product is working! I previously used B.LAB's Matcha Foam Cleanser, but I prefer this one for my skin.
ConsI wouldn't recommend this to those hoping for a one-step makeup remover cleansing foam. Also, while I'm using it comfortably, I can't say the ingredients feel particularly impressive. The effectiveness might vary depending on your skin condition.

I loved that even though it cleanses thoroughly, it leaves my skin feeling moisturized without any tightness after washing. Since my skin usually responds well to centella asiatica, I think this product suits me too. I didn't experience any blemishes, dryness, or irritation after use, so I felt it had a soothing effect on my skin. Most gentle cleansing foams don't lather well and often leave me wondering if I've cleaned properly due to their slippery texture. However, this product lathers nicely and cleanses effectively. I'm satisfied using this product as it's gentle yet cleanses well, and I like both its texture and how it feels on my skin.
ConsThere's a slight herbal scent, possibly due to the cica, which I noticed despite the ingredient list showing no added fragrances. Being a gentle product, you can't expect it to have super strong cleansing power or remove all your makeup. You'll need to use it with cleansing oil or water for a thorough cleanse.

As someone with acne-prone sensitive skin who usually only wears light makeup (mostly just sunscreen) and uses mild cleansing foams, I'll briefly share my thoughts. 1. Overall impression: It feels like washing your face with soap - a 'deep' cleansing foam with a strong alkaline sensation. While it easily removes light makeup, it seems to strip away my skin barrier too. However, it might be worth trying for those with oily skin, people who don't do well with low pH cleansers, heavy makeup wearers, or eco-conscious individuals. 2. Pros: 1) Scent: The refreshing menthol-like fragrance makes face washing enjoyable. Surprisingly, it has this scent without added fragrances. It's a great stress-reliever after being out all day. Personally, I love this type of scent, so it's the biggest plus for me. 2) Powerful cleansing effectiveness: This is definitely a strong point. (Apart from feeling like it might remove dead skin cells) Given that it's labeled as a 'deep' cleansing foam, anyone interested in this product would expect strong cleansing power. And it certainly lives up to that expectation (I used a 1st step exfoliating toner, then this as 2nd step). I appreciate its effectiveness in fulfilling its role as a cleansing foam (though it might feel extra strong compared to my previous low pH product).
Cons3. Cons: 1) Doesn't lather well: Even for someone as lazy as me, I found myself wishing for my discarded bubble maker. It's hard to create foam. Adding more water helps a bit, but if you want fluffy, cloud-like foam or want to minimize skin irritation, I recommend using a bubble maker. 2) Concerns about the skin barrier: This seems to be the trade-off for strong cleansing power. After washing, you feel the need to quickly apply toner, and the squeaky-clean feeling when rinsing off the foam is worrying. Try to minimize friction when rinsing and 'throw' water onto your face instead of rubbing. 3) Minimal effects from ingredients: Honestly, beneficial ingredients in cleansing foams don't seem very impactful since they're washed off. When I first received this product, my skin was in terrible condition due to fine dust warnings, but changing cleansers didn't help calm it. While cleansing is important, I don't wear much makeup usually, so I might not have noticed a big difference. 4. Repurchase intention: For now, I feel I could continue using it. Low pH products generally have weaker cleansing power than alkaline ones, so using both types might be best. I'll keep observing long-term effects. 5. Did it cause more blemishes? It didn't particularly increase or decrease my blemishes.

While it might feel a bit intense, I didn't experience any sensitivity. The best way to describe it is a cooling effect, or if I'm being critical, it's like applying a cooling patch or toothpaste to your face (without the stinging sensation). To be honest, I struggled to find many positives about this product. The cooling sensation is perhaps its main redeeming quality. On the plus side, the generous amount means it should last a while.
ConsTexture, scent & formula: It's a white, rich-textured product, reminiscent of the hugely popular S*seido cleansing foam. The biggest drawback is the scent. It has a strong minty, medicinal smell - like a cooling patch. If you're not a fan of this scent, you might find it unbearable. It's an intense, fresh scent - charitably described as minty, less charitably as medicinal. Hydration: It's too stripping for morning use, leaving skin feeling squeaky clean but devoid of moisture. Blemishes: I seemed to break out more when using this at night. However, I recently started using C*nny Lab peeling pads in the evening, so the combination might be causing skin issues. My skin was starting to calm down, but now I'm seeing new blemishes appear. Repurchase?: While I'll use it since I received it for free, I wouldn't spend my own money on it. It might work well as a second cleanser after an oil cleanser. If you enjoy that squeaky clean feeling and don't mind the lack of hydration, you might like it.
TipThis review is part of The Hwahae Testers program and reflects my personal experience. My skin type: Combination - oily T-zone (prone to blackheads, excess sebum, and enlarged pores) and sensitive, dry U-zone (typically very dry, but since wearing masks, I've experienced more blemishes on my chin and cheeks, leaving some scarring around my chin, nose, and mouth area). Daily skincare routine: Morning: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Cleanser - Toner (ONE THING Hyaluronic Acid Essence, 3 layers) - Serum/Essence (Dajayeon Houttuynia Cordata Care Serum, 1 layer) - Cream (Bring Green Artemisia Calming Repair Cream, 2 layers) Evening: VVIVV Cica Deep Cleansing Foam - Cheonsamyeongso PHA AC Peeling Toner Pad - Toner (ONE THING Hyaluronic Acid Essence, 3 layers) - Serum/Essence (Dajayeon Houttuynia Cordata Care Serum, 2 layers) - Cream (Haesorin Moonlight Deep Nourishing Cream, 1.5 layers)

Kind of like a medicinal smell?! I'm not particularly sensitive to fragrances, so it didn't bother me when using it. 🌿Lather/Cleansing effectiveness: When you squeeze it out, a light, fluffy cream comes out that lathers up really well. It gives a squeaky clean feeling. After using it, my face feels refreshed. 🌿Packaging: The container is lightweight and easy to squeeze, making it convenient to use. The package design is also clean and simple.
Cons🌿Blemishes: About a week after I started using it, I got a small pimple on my forehead. I hadn't had any acne on my forehead recently, so I became a bit suspicious when it appeared after using this cleansing foam... That's when I finally checked the ingredients on Hwahae and noticed there were a few components that aren't good for oily and sensitive skin... Ugh. Other than that, no issues.
TipFor those who, like me, experienced skin blemishes and feel hesitant to continue using it regularly, but also don't want to waste the product, I suggest using it 3-4 times a week, applying small amounts to areas that tend to get oily. I think this could be one way to use it up. The cleansing effectiveness is undeniable 👍

After washing, my skin feels squeaky clean. Apart from that, I didn't notice any other particular advantages.
ConsI typically have combination dehydrated skin that's super sensitive, so I'm prone to blemishes. I had high hopes for this product since it's a foam cleanser specifically for blemish-prone skin. I started using it right after my period when my skin was in pretty bad shape, thinking it might help calm things down. But to my dismay, it actually made my skin worse! I had to stop using it after just four days. I considered pushing through until the review deadline, but my skin was so irritated it hurt to touch, so I had no choice but to stop. Interestingly, my boyfriend used it too and had the complete opposite experience - it worked perfectly for him. On the bright side, after I stopped using it, my skin definitely calmed down. Of course, I used my usual soothing products to help, but it was a bit much to use both the foam cleanser and calming products at the same time. From watching my boyfriend's experience, it seems to work well for men's skin, but if you have skin like mine, I'd recommend carefully checking the ingredients and reviews before giving it a try!

It seems like it would be great for soothing sun-irritated skin in the summer.
ConsIt didn't seem to have much effect on calming blemishes... but everything else was fine!
