(1) Soothing Heat I think nothing beats aloe for skin soothing and heat relief, and the effects are indeed good. It absorbs quickly, but the finish is a bit more moisturizing compared to other aloe gel products. I felt it helped retain more moisture. When heat flares up, applying it thickly works very well to calm it down. (2) Hydration To get sufficient hydration effects from aloe gel or gel-type products, you need to apply and absorb it 3-4 times. This product isn't as fast-absorbing as typical aloe gels, so it may be a bit more tedious, but with repeated use, I found it hydrates better than regular toners. However, using aloe gel for soothing purposes is likely the most convenient and beneficial approach. I really enjoy applying a generous amount of aloe like a face pack, but this product doesn't allow me to do that. If I apply it that way, it becomes extremely sticky.
