Among brightening moisturizers, this is one of the few products where I've actually seen a noticeable improvement in my complexion. I ended up buying it after being swayed by a YouTube review, and I'm so glad I did! It's not sticky at all, and once you apply and gently pat it in, your skin feels soft and smooth without any tackiness. My neck is darker than my face, so I used to apply sunscreen with brightening effects there. However, this product works even better! Unlike sunscreen, it doesn't feel sticky and doesn't transfer onto clothes, which is fantastic! I love that I can apply it to my neck and nape without any discomfort. I'm definitely planning to keep using it throughout the summer. I tried using it on my face instead of sunscreen, but after about three hours, my skin started to look a bit shiny. However, it's not a big issue since a quick touch-up with some powder takes care of the excess oil. Apart from that, I can't really find any other downsides to this product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 9, 2025
It absorbs well with a nice hydrating feel, making it very easy to apply. I love how it naturally blends into your complexion over time, giving you a subtle brightening effect! The staying power was better than expected, and it didn't settle into hand wrinkles or transfer onto clothes, which was great. As time passed, I noticed it started to feel a bit rich on the skin. While it does claim to have sun protection properties, I still recommend applying your regular sunscreen or sun serum before using this product! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinApr 24, 2025
This is the most hydrating brightening moisturizer I've ever used! If you don't prep your skin well, it might not sit perfectly. Also, it can get a bit oily in the afternoon. Apply an appropriate amount to your hands and spread evenly. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 28, 2025
Applies smoothly with a hydrating feel, and feels less drying compared to other brightening moisturizers As time passes, it becomes quite oily and starts to wear off - Hwahae UserDry SkinJan 25, 2025
This is the best brightening moisturizer I've ever used. My skin has a slight yellow undertone, so other brightening moisturizers I've tried looked a bit dull...? They just made me look somewhat sickly, but this product truly gives me a porcelain complexion. The adherence is fantastic, and I always apply it before using cushion foundation. It somehow brings life to my skin. ++ You need to be careful with the amount though. If you apply too much, your face will look noticeably lighter than the rest of you. I wouldn't really recommend this for those with super sensitive skin. Since it's quite hydrating, I noticed that it made my skin get oily faster. Even with powder, the lasting power seems to remain the same. Instead of applying too much directly on your face, it's better to use a small amount and gently pat it in with a sponge puff for good adherence. I don't recommend just slathering it on with your hands. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 20, 2025
As a nomadic user of tone-up creams, this tone-up cream was the best. It evenly brightens the skin tone and the pump dispenser allows me to use every last bit economically. However, if not applied well, it can become too clumped and sticky. The adhesiveness is about 3/5, and those with very oily skin should not use it, as it will always clump up like mine. The Hwahae Trial Reviewers recommend using oil blotting paper around 5 hours after use. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 20, 2024
First off, the way it absorbs is really fantastic. It applies smoothly without any pilling, leaving your skin feeling hydrated. Right after application, your complexion looks noticeably brighter. The main issue was that it transferred quite badly. It just leaves white marks everywhere. I'm not sure if it's because my face is quite oily, but the darkening effect was also too intense. I ended up only applying it to my neck just to even out my skin tone. It made my skin look super shiny, caused an oil explosion, and even led to some blemishes, so I won't be repurchasing. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAug 12, 2024
It's as moisturizing as a serum, making it easy to apply comfortably on the go. I don't particularly enjoy heavy makeup, so I appreciated how it lightly evens skin tone. It's quite rich, so I'd recommend using a powder to reduce the oiliness before application. Gently pat on some powder after applying. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 19, 2023
For sensitive, blemish-prone, combination skin: I was feeling my complexion had become quite dull lately, so I was thrilled to be selected for The Hwahae Testers! I had been debating whether to buy this at Olive Young. As someone with sensitive skin, I was reassured by the fact it's a vegan product. Fortunately, it didn't seem to cause any blemishes! (For those with sensitive skin, I recommend patch testing on a small area first rather than applying all over - it really reduces the worry about potential reactions.) The lower SPF content might also be why it didn't cause issues. I find higher SPF formulas tend to trigger blemishes for me. Recently, I noticed my foundation would look dull after a while over sunscreen, so I tried adding a bit of this brightening moisturizer - and wow, it definitely made a difference! My foundation seemed to last longer, and my skin had a more radiant appearance. The texture isn't bad, but it's a bit slippery. I recommend patting it in to absorb rather than rubbing. I have some dead skin cells, and rubbing caused some flaking. If you notice a tone difference between your face and neck, apply it to your neck too - it really reduces the contrast and makes your face look brighter! Good value! Honestly, I might hesitate at full price, but it's available at nearby Olive Young stores. If you buy during a sale, I think it's a great deal. The only downside I can think of is that it feels slightly oily when applying. Make sure to apply it to the back of your neck, not just the front! (Especially important if you wear your hair up!) - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 17, 2023
My skin got a bit darker after tanning in the summer, so I was looking for a brightening moisturizer when I won the chance to try this product as part of The Hwahae Testers! Skin type: Dry Skin concerns: Blemishes, pores, dryness After applying, it seems to brighten my overall complexion by about half to one shade. I didn't expect much coverage from a brightening moisturizer, but it does even out my skin tone while giving a fresh, bare-faced look that appears radiant! When applying it on the back of my hand, it feels very watery. I thought it might not adhere well if I used my fingers on my face, so I opted for a beauty blender or cushion puff instead. It's a hydrating product, so it doesn't look patchy, but I did notice some slight pilling around my nose area. To combat this, I applied a small amount very carefully. I'd recommend this product to: - Those looking for vegan skincare options - People searching for a hydrating brightening moisturizer - Anyone wanting a natural-looking complexion enhancement There's not much to dislike, but it can make your skin look a bit shiny after application!
