It was convenient to find this product at Olive Young, saving me the wait for delivery. I appreciated being able to purchase it right away. The application was smooth, not feeling stiff on the skin. I was pleased that it didn't cause any blemishes or irritation like itching or tingling. Unfortunately, it pills a lot. I thought it might be due to using too many skincare products, so I tried skipping some steps in my routine. However, it still pilled and clumped on my skin. I don't think I'll be repurchasing this. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 22, 2025
When using two products together, the absorption is quite good. The texture isn't extremely thin, so instead of rubbing, it's better to dot it around and gently pat to spread. There's virtually no coverage, but it doesn't transfer at all and provides excellent brightening effects. It maintains well for about half a day, but since it's easily cleansed off with oil and water, the brightening effect naturally fades when skin gets oily. After half a day, I usually blot with oil-absorbing sheets and reapply lightly. I've noticed that when used with no-sebum powder, it can sometimes pill, so I avoid that combination. It's extremely useful for applying to the neck when using foundation as a base. For everyday use, instead of other makeup, I just use this brightening moisturizer. It prevents a dull appearance without unevenly covering blemishes, allowing for a natural and comfortable application. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 20, 2025
As a nomadic user of tone-up creams, this tone-up cream was the best. It evenly brightens the skin tone and the pump dispenser allows me to use every last bit economically. However, if not applied well, it can become too clumped and sticky. The adhesiveness is about 3/5, and those with very oily skin should not use it, as it will always clump up like mine. The Hwahae Trial Reviewers recommend using oil blotting paper around 5 hours after use. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinDec 14, 2024
I've been using it daily as I've noticed my complexion has become a bit brighter I apply it carefully because it tends to pill a bit when layered over cream I recommend letting your base products absorb fully before applying this - Hwahae UserDry SkinSep 6, 2024
This is pretty decent. On days when you just want to look fairer, apply it before going out and it naturally brightens your skin as the white cast fades! However, be careful when you sweat, as it might leave white streaks. You'll need to watch out for that. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 16, 2024
Skin type: Dry and sensitive, with acne-prone areas around the chin. Positives: Some products dispense too much, making it hard to control the amount. However, this one pumps out just the right amount, allowing for easy application control. When applied to the face, it goes on smoothly and subtly brightens the skin, making it perfect for those days when you're not confident going out bare-faced. When used under makeup, it noticeably brightens the complexion, giving a radiant look. Drawbacks: The main issue, which is quite significant, is that it pills even without makeup on top. It tends to clump around the edges of the face, requiring me to wipe it off before applying makeup. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 15, 2023
It applies smoothly like a hydrating emulsion, gliding effortlessly onto the skin. While many brightening moisturizers on the market have a pink tint, I appreciated that this one is white since I'm not fond of reddish tones. The texture is rich in hydration rather than being oily, and it doesn't leave that greasy feeling. It naturally evens out the complexion by about half a shade. I don't think this product is worth purchasing for regular use. While it's true that the hydrating emulsion texture applies well, it also tends to pill easily. This pilling leads to an uneven application, essentially giving the effect of a mineral sunscreen that hasn't absorbed yet - floating on the skin. However, unlike mineral sunscreens where this effect disappears after absorption, with this product, that floating sensation persists. It might be easier to use on the neck area rather than the face, with fewer application difficulties. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinOct 15, 2023
I loved how it evened my skin tone naturally without being excessive. The ingredients are gentle, and the texture is a nice balance between an emulsion and cream, making it easy to apply. There's no strong scent or typical sunscreen smell. It's wonderfully hydrating, and that moisturizing effect lasts for a long time. When I tried to layer it for more brightening, it didn't blend as naturally. There was also a bit of pilling, so I had to smooth it out with a puff afterwards. I recommend patting it in with your fingers instead of rubbing, or applying it with a puff for best results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinOct 14, 2023
Skin type: Acne-prone, combination dehydrated skin, sensitive, very thin skin Application: It doesn't apply thickly, but rather spreads like an emulsion, making it easy to apply. Perfect for busy mornings when you need to quickly smooth it on. However, it does leave a slight white cast, so you need to pay attention when applying! Brightening effect: I have a yellowish skin tone (shade 23), and this product naturally brightens my complexion by one shade while effectively neutralizing yellow undertones. You'll notice in the photos how well it counteracts the yellow tones! Caution regarding ingredients: Although I haven't experienced any blemishes yet, as someone with acne-prone skin, I'm slightly concerned about some potentially problematic ingredients. No reapplication: While you can layer the brightening moisturizer a few times during initial application, reapplying after some time has passed causes it to clump and settle into pores, making your skin look worse. (The 3rd and 4th photos show this pore-clogging effect.) Apply the brightening moisturizer well in one go when first using it! The sun protection factor isn't very high, so use it together with another sunscreen! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 11, 2023
Usage period: 2023.09.27~2023.10.11 (2 weeks) Skin type: Sensitive, blemish-prone, redness-prone This is a 2-week review using it as a sunscreen/brightening moisturizer > foundation/cushion base. Application feel 5/5 Unlike typical brightening moisturizers, it applies smoothly with a genuine cream texture. I was surprised how evenly it spread when I hastily applied it with my hands. Usually, brightening creams would leave streaks or not absorb well, but this one absorbs perfectly thanks to its cream formulation! Texture 5/5 It has a very cream-like texture that's gentle and hydrating! (I was shocked by how it feels like a pure moisturizer.) It suits my combination skin (dry + oily T-zone) well, and I think it would work for both oily and dry skin types. There's zero oiliness, and the texture is water-like. Spreadability 5/5 It absorbs into the skin like a cream from the moment you apply it, so it spreads beautifully! I was worried about pilling or dead skin cells flaking off when I carelessly patted my cushion over it, but it adheres well to the skin like a cream. Finish 5/5 It goes on very moisturizing and white at first, then seamlessly blends into the skin. The finish doesn't feel greasy like sunscreen or heavy like foundation - it just melds perfectly with my skin. Coverage 3/5 While it evens out skin tone naturally and has great application, adherence, and feel, it offers almost no coverage. Overall score 4.5/5 Recommended for those whose face looks duller than their body, those whose foundation shade is too light and makes their face look ghostly, or those looking for a gentle, cream-like brightening moisturizer for body use. It works well without any makeup pilling! Redness coverage As it's a comfortable and gentle brightening moisturizer, it's disappointing that it doesn't cover redness or pores. 2024.05.12 ++ Additional thoughts after using for about 7 months + Pore clogging + Flaking of dead skin cells After not using it for a couple of months, when I applied it again, it came out clumped into little balls. This might be why it's clogging the pores in my T-zone and causing flaking in areas with dead skin cells. When I used it before, either my skin was in better condition or it didn't clump, so the flaking wasn't as noticeable. It seems to work perfectly for those with good skin, but when my skin isn't in great condition, I'm hesitant to use it. I mainly apply it to my neck after doing my makeup! Since it has a thin cream texture, it doesn't leave marks on white clothes, which is great!
