It made my hair so much easier to comb through, and I love that it's packed with beneficial ingredients. I'm definitely going to repurchase. If you're struggling with damaged hair or looking to improve your hair texture, this is an absolute must-buy!
ConsI have to say, it's a bit pricey for a shampoo. If you're planning to get it, I'd recommend waiting for a sale to make your purchase.

But after using this for 2-3 weeks, it's definitely improved!
ConsThe product is too expensive. It would be great if they could lower the price a bit or increase the amount.

First off, I have an oily scalp that gets greasy quickly, even just half a day after washing. My hair is also quite damaged from bleaching. Fragrance: The shampoo's scent lives up to its seaweed name, with a hint of ocean freshness. It's a pleasant, invigorating aroma that I really enjoy. Cleansing effectiveness: The cleansing power is truly impressive. Before using this seaweed shampoo, my previous shampoo didn't seem to suit me well. My hair would get greasy and stick together just half a day after washing. With this shampoo, however, my hair stays fresh and oil-free for much longer, which I love. Post-shampoo texture: Sometimes after shampooing (without using conditioner), I've experienced my hair becoming stiff and brittle. In those cases, I'd reluctantly have to use a conditioner to prevent my damaged hair from breaking. However, with this product, my hair feels remarkably soft right after shampooing, even without conditioner. As someone who dislikes extra steps, I was able to finish with just a hair essence instead of a separate conditioner. The result was smooth, soft hair as if I had used a conditioner. I highly recommend this aspect, especially for those with damaged hair like mine. No hair loss or breakage after shampooing: Despite my severely damaged hair, I noticed significantly less hair fall while shampooing compared to before. I used to worry about potential hair loss, but with this seaweed shampoo, that concern has greatly diminished. This is one of the reasons why I plan to stick with this seaweed shampoo. I'm truly grateful for this product!
ConsI didn't find any particular downsides. However, for those with extremely dry scalps, using a conditioner along with this shampoo might be even more beneficial.

My hair ends are split and lack hydration. I usually use shampoos for oily hair, which clean well but leave my hair feeling stiff after washing. I typically wash my hair in the evening. After using the Seaweed Shampoo: There's hardly any stiffness after washing. My hair definitely feels less dry, and the cleansing effectiveness is good. The scent isn't overpowering, which is nice. However, the fragrance fades quickly after rinsing.
ConsThe instructions recommend using the shampoo twice to create enough lather, which feels a bit cumbersome. Given my oily scalp, my hair doesn't stay fresh for too long.
TipRecommended for those concerned about dry and damaged hair.

While the scent initially reminded me of dish soap, which slightly lowered my expectations, the softness I felt right after shampooing was incredible!!! You know how people often describe their hair feeling like seaweed after using a deep conditioner? That's exactly how the Seaweed Shampoo made my hair feel! My hair has been severely damaged from multiple dye jobs, but with just this shampoo alone, it feels incredibly soft and moisturized - as if I've used a treatment. It's so effective that I've stopped using a separate conditioner. The volume is well-maintained, and although the instructions suggest shampooing twice, the lather is so rich that once is enough. Overall, I'm absolutely in love with this product!
ConsThe only downside is the dish soap-like scent... everything else is fantastic!

What struck me most each time I used this shampoo was that it doesn't rely on harsh ingredients to achieve excessive cleansing power. As you can see in the lather photo, when I rubbed it, there was a slippery feeling - almost like rubbing seaweed or kelp - and it didn't produce much foam! I actually appreciated this gentler approach. When using it on my hair, it didn't lather excessively either. However, while rinsing, I definitely felt like my hair was thoroughly cleansed and noticeably smoother. This aspect was truly impressive because I'm not the most diligent when it comes to hair care and sometimes wash my hair every other day. With my previous shampoo, washing every other day would leave my hair and scalp feeling coated in oil, difficult to clean, and extremely stiff. Surprisingly, when using this shampoo every other day, I didn't experience any of that stiffness, which was quite remarkable. The cleansing effectiveness was also good - I could clearly feel that my hair was clean. Additionally, I enjoyed the subtle scent of kelp jelly that lingered each time I used the shampoo.
ConsHowever, as you can see from my before and after photos, it didn't feel like a specialized anti-hair loss shampoo. While my hair felt softer, I didn't notice an increase in volume or a reduction in hair fall. If I experience any significant anti-hair loss effects with continued use, I'll update this review accordingly. For now, if you're specifically looking for hair loss prevention, I'd recommend exploring other shampoo options. The biggest drawback for me was the price point... As of February 14, 2025, it's 26,910 won on Coupang and 25,650 won at Olive Young. During my two-week trial, I enjoyed the subtle kelp jelly scent and the smooth feeling so much that I would have considered purchasing another bottle if the price was a bit more reasonable. At this price point, though, I'm not sure if the benefits justify the cost. It's disappointing.

First off, my scalp is super sensitive due to frequent bleaching and dyeing. While I've cut off all the bleached hair, so my actual hair is fine now, my once-sensitized scalp tends to get blemishes or itchy with any shampoo (I've tried all the top-rated ones from Olive Young). Also, I'm not particularly oily, but I'm extremely sensitive to scalp odor! When choosing shampoos, I prioritize cleansing effectiveness first, then gentleness. After using the Cheongmijung Seaweed Shampoo for a week, it feels really gentle. No scalp blemishes, itching, or dryness at all! However, despite emphasizing its nourishing ingredients, it left my hair feeling stripped of oils after washing, similar to using an anti-dandruff (oily scalp) shampoo, making it feel quite stiff.
ConsDespite leaving hair feeling stiff after washing, it doesn't seem to control scalp odor as effectively as I'd hoped. My hair doesn't usually get greasy or smelly quickly, but compared to my previous product, I noticed my scalp feeling grimy faster. The scent is also a bit disappointing. I know it's just shampoo, not conditioner or hair mask, so expecting a lingering scent might be a stretch, but it has a pleasant, refreshing lemon scent while washing that disappears completely once rinsed out. That was slightly disappointing! Also, while the website instructions suggest using it in two steps, I've already used over half the bottle in a week because I have very thick, long hair... The amount might vary for different people, but for me, this is another downside.
TipI highly recommend this for people who: Have extremely sensitive scalps! Want a lightweight shampoo! Are looking for a cleansing shampoo for oily scalps! Diligently use conditioner, treatment, or hair masks after shampooing!

First off, I have relatively healthy hair since I avoid coloring and perming due to the hassle of salon visits. When I used this shampoo, I thought, 'Ah, this seems more suitable for damaged hair.' It's a thin, fragrance-free, and healthy product that requires two washes to remove excess oil. After washing, my hair feels incredibly soft!
ConsHowever, despite not having extremely oily hair, I noticed that my scalp became greasy quite quickly. Also, in our busy modern life, while it's great for a special self-care day, using it daily and having to wash twice each time might be a bit challenging.

First off, my scalp and hair are in pretty bad shape due to three rounds of bleaching, maintaining bleached hair for about 6 months, and 2-3 dye jobs. When I used this shampoo, I felt a genuinely cool sensation on my scalp, not some artificial cooling effect. I think this refreshing feeling was also due to its great cleansing effectiveness. After being outside and then washing my hair, it feels more invigorating compared to other shampoos. I have sensitive scalp skin that's prone to blemishes, but this didn't cause any to appear and didn't over-dry my scalp either. I highly recommend this for those with super sensitive skin or an itchy scalp.
ConsWhile I'm using it well, I should mention that it doesn't lather up much. Though abundant foam isn't necessarily a good thing, this shampoo tends to produce less lather.
TipI was already using the Cheongmijung Seaweed Essence, and using them together has significantly reduced scalp itching and increased hydration. I actually recommend using them in combination rather than just the shampoo alone. Given its strong cleansing effectiveness, I definitely recommend following up with a conditioner.

As a result, it doesn't lather well when I shampoo. Lather: While it lathers nicely on the scalp, it doesn't foam up as much on the damaged hair. However, using a bit more shampoo or water helps create a good lather even on the hair strands. Effect on damaged hair: To gauge its effectiveness, I didn't use any conditioner. After washing and drying my hair, I could feel that it became noticeably softer. It felt relatively smoother compared to regular shampoos, though the change wasn't dramatically different. Effect on dry scalp: I tend to have a very dry scalp, often getting dandruff-like flakes in autumn and winter. Since using this shampoo, I've noticed a reduction in these issues. Design: Personally, I find the shampoo bottle design quite attractive, making it a nice option for gifting. Fragrance: It's not unscented, but has a subtle sweet scent. The fragrance isn't overpowering, which I appreciate, though it might be a matter of personal preference. Texture: Compared to other shampoos, it's quite thin in consistency. This suggests it would lather even better on hair that isn't damaged.
ConsVolume: As mentioned earlier, the shampoo is quite thin, which sometimes leads me to unconsciously use two pumps instead of one. Each time this happens, I notice the shampoo level dropping rapidly, making me feel that the quantity for the price isn't particularly generous.
TipCheongmijung Treatment (not tried): I discovered there's a matching treatment in the same line. Given that the shampoo alone seemed to help somewhat with tangled hair and dry scalp, I imagine using it together with the treatment would yield even better results.
