- Skin type: Combination dehydrated skin + Redness-prone I purchased this product for morning cleansing and as a second cleanser. I used it to remove just enough oil and residue from my first cleanse without compromising my skin barrier. - Texture: I was satisfied with the texture. After cleansing, my face didn't feel particularly dry, and it left a clean finish without any slippery or uncomfortable feeling. I was slightly concerned about its cleansing effectiveness due to the low foam, but it removed the oiliness and slick feeling after using cleansing balm, so I was very pleased with the experience! - Cleansing effectiveness: Sufficient for morning/second cleanse It should be enough for those who want to use it for the same purpose as me. I didn't experience any blemishes or issues with sebum control after use. However, this is based on using it for the above purposes in fall and winter, so I'm not sure if it's suitable for summer use or for those who want to end their evening cleansing routine with this product. - Packaging: This doesn't affect the rating, but I liked the clean and pretty packaging (based on the previous design). Even though it's a tube type, when you stand it up, the product naturally gathers near the opening, so you can use it comfortably until the end without having to squeeze from the back. I'm not sure about the new packaging though. - Tingling sensation: The reason I gave it 3 stars despite being quite satisfied with its use is this: It was fine at first, but when I had used about 70% of the product, I started to feel a tingling sensation. It didn't cause any blemishes, and the tingling only occurred during cleansing and went away after rinsing, so I continued using it until the end, but this was a bit disappointing. If it weren't for this, I would have given it 4 stars, but it seemed like too big of a drawback to overlook. When I started feeling the tingling, I asked my sister to try it, and she said it was fine, so it doesn't seem like the product changed, but I'm not sure about the cause. - Comparison with other products I have used two other gentle cleansers for similar purposes: Etude Soon Jung Whip Cleanser and Lagom Gel to Water Cleanser. # Ranking them by cleansing effectiveness: Krave Beauty > Etude > Lagom Krave Beauty felt like it cleansed thoroughly without damaging the skin barrier or stripping too much moisture. Etude felt less refreshing and clean, but it removed enough impurities without causing blemishes. Lagom felt like it only removed a bit of oil, so I didn't use it on days when I had a lot of residue after first cleansing or on mornings when my skin was particularly oily. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinAug 4, 2020
After using, my skin feels hydrated and refreshed! I love the moisturizing texture. I bought this after seeing Office Worker A's advertisement, but it stings a bit. It's irritating on my atopic skin... The marketing seemed to suggest it was for sensitive skin, so why is it more painful and irritating than a regular 6,000 won cleansing foam? - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinApr 12, 2020
A review from The Hwahae Testers Before diving into the review, let me give you a detailed introduction to my skin! In a word, it's what most people commonly refer to as "combination dehydrated skin." To be more specific, I have atopic dermatitis, occasional redness, and sensitive skin that's prone to blemishes depending on the season and products I use. Also, my skin's outer layer is quite thin, so even a little chemical exfoliation with AHA, BHA, or PHA can quickly break down my skin barrier, leading to blemishes and more noticeable skin texture. It's really challenging to manage! I tend to avoid products containing -acid ingredients and shea butter, as they usually clog my pores and cause breakouts. I also steer clear of most oils like rosehip, tamanu, and jojoba because they don't agree with my skin. Given my skin type, the most crucial skincare step for me is cleansing! If I don't provide hydration from the cleansing stage, my skin becomes extremely dry deep down, and no matter what products I apply afterward, I never feel fully hydrated. So, I requested this product and used it as a second cleanser when wearing makeup, and as my main cleanser on makeup-free days. I'll break down my detailed review into categories: As a second cleanser - It glides on the face smoothly without that squeaky-clean feeling. Those with extremely sensitive skin might feel tiny granules in the cleanser, but most skin types should find it comfortable to use. If you're worried about its cleansing power after makeup, using a bubble maker or foam net to create ample lather can enhance its effectiveness without stripping too much moisture. As a main cleanser - Since my skin's outer layer is very thin, I found that even without a bubble maker, it left my skin feeling sufficiently hydrated after cleansing when not wearing makeup. I tried using it (with a bubble maker) for evening cleansing on bare skin for a few days recently. On days 1-2, my complexion looked brighter and felt clean yet hydrated. However, from day 3, my skin tone became uneven and blemishes started to appear. I suspect this was due to continued use of the cleanser on my thin, dry outer layer, which may have damaged my skin barrier. I don't think it's an issue with the product's ingredients. For those with sensitive skin and a thin outer layer like mine, I recommend pausing use when your skin feels particularly sensitive and resuming only after your skin barrier has somewhat recovered. While this product is said to be gentle enough for sensitive skin due to its slightly acidic pH, I personally felt a slight tingling sensation when using it with foam during times when my skin was extremely sensitive. For those with skin types like mine or similar, choosing a cleanser can be quite tricky! While it's easy to find information about sensitive or combination dehydrated skin, it's harder to find products suitable for those with a thin outer layer. So, I'd like to share my experience with different cleanser types, focusing mainly on first-step cleansers. (Please keep in mind that everyone's skin is different, and this is just my personal opinion!) 1. Cleansing Oils This is probably the most popular type of cleanser. If you wear makeup, you've likely tried one. Oily skin types might instinctively avoid anything with "oil" in the name. However, many sources suggest that oil can actually help control excess sebum in oily skin. I agree that oil can help remove oiliness, based on my experience. But after the second or third use, I found it less effective. While it still cleaned well and removed makeup, I felt like it stripped both moisture and oil from my skin, causing it to produce even more oil afterward. That's when I said goodbye to cleansing oils. Products I've tried: - Second Design Cleansing Oil - Innisfree Apple Cleansing Oil - Beautyclo Apricot Seed Cleansing Oil 2. Cleansing Waters I suspect this might be the most popular type among those with oily skin! The clean finish without oiliness, the freshness that seems unlikely to cause blemishes, and the ease of use are probably its biggest advantages. I recently started using cleansing water and was amazed by a hydrating one recommended by a friend! It had the freshness of cleansing water but left my skin feeling so hydrated that even minutes after showering, my face didn't feel dry. I used it happily for about two months. However, I realized that the cotton pads used are crucial. When I ran out of my usual pads and used regular 5-ply ones, my skin became irritated and blemishes appeared. It seemed like the makeup wasn't being removed properly, creating a vicious cycle. Although my skin recovered when I went back to my original cotton pads, I still felt some irritation from using about three pads each time. So I realized this wasn't the best option for me either. Products I've tried: - Bioderma Cleansing Water (Very gentle) - The Medi Doctor Cleansing Water (Contains PHA for mild exfoliation, but still somewhat irritating, very refreshing) - Avène Micellar Emulsion (Very hydrating) 3. Cleansing Milks (Emulsions) This has actually been my go-to for the past few years! For skin prone to deep dryness like mine, it's the least irritating and works great as a first-step cleanser on makeup, unlike foams or gels. So why did I become a cleansing nomad again? The low cleansing power. When my skin was very dry and makeup was stuck to my face, I had to massage for a long time, which felt irritating, and makeup seemed to remain in textured areas. But after seeing a cleansing milk method shared by Kim O on YuXX, I'm considering switching back! The method involves gently applying the cleansing milk, lightly massaging with relaxed fingers, then emulsifying, and here's the key - wiping it off with a damp cotton pad. I never thought of using tools, but she shared this as her years-long cleansing secret. This way, you might only need one cotton pad instead of three like with cleansing water. I haven't tried it yet, but I wanted to share this method with you! Products I've tried: - Bioderma Cleansing Milk (Used the longest, but slightly irritating when skin was sensitive) - Sidmool Dr. Troub Cleansing Milk (Very gentle, but only moderately effective at cleansing) Planning to try: Make P:rem Cleansing Milk (The product from the video!) 4. Others (Cleansing Foams, Gels, Sea Sponges, Konjac Sponges) Between foams and gels, I recommend gels as they're less drying. Sea sponges can damage thin outer layers, so I don't recommend them. Konjac sponges, for those who know, are very gentle cleansing tools. When my face was covered in dead skin cells and everything stung, this was my last resort to gently exfoliate and help with cleansing. Thank you for reading such a long post! Let's find the right products for our skin and see the light together! P.S. For those with skin like mine or similar, I strongly advise against exfoliation. While there are many reasons for dead skin cell buildup, especially when it's due to barrier damage or dryness, it's actually necessary protective skin that should be calmed with hydration and moisture (according to a doctor). So let's tackle dead skin cells with plenty of hydration! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 25, 2019
I usually only use low pH gel cleansers, so I was pleased to find this runny gel cleanser available domestically. While it has a slight detergent scent, it wasn't particularly bothersome. As someone accustomed to gel cleansers, I found it produced a very rich lather - definitely better than the Fresh gel cleanser. After rinsing, my skin didn't feel overly tight either. My skin around the mouth is sensitive, and this cleanser stings quite badly. It feels like applying alcohol to raw skin. There's a momentary redness, and while there are no lasting issues, the intense tingling is concerning. I'd recommend using this cautiously depending on your skin condition.
