✓ Skin type: Sensitive + Combination ➜ I have an oily T-zone and struggle with blackheads and pores in summer! My skin is sensitive depending on environmental factors!! ✓ Why I bought it: When The Ordinary products were all over YouTube, I purchased this because it had high-concentration ingredients at an affordable price. I bought it along with niacinamide as they were said to work well together. ✓ Texture: The color is similar to a BB cream. ✓ Ingredients: Except for phenoxyethanol at the end, the ingredients are good. Plus, it's high concentration... It might just not suit me.. Many people who like it say it's good.. ✓ No fragrance: I like that it's fragrance-free. However, it's not completely unscented, there's a strange unique scent... Still, I think it's worth using since fragrance-free products are good. ✓ Price: In terms of value for money, The Ordinary is great ✓ User experience: This product... was really disappointing for me. I don't understand why they said it works well with niacinamide. Most people who use this product probably have similar skin conditions to mine... It feels really heavy. Generally, people with skin like mine prefer light emulsions and creams (thick products feel too heavy... because we're already oily), but this product feels heavy as soon as you apply it.. Plus, the stickiness lasts a long time. ✓ Moisturizing power: To be honest, I tried it a few times after initially using it, but it felt so heavy that I thought 'This really doesn't suit me' and washed it off right away, so I'm not sure... ✓ Volume: It's small... But I think you only need to apply a small amount of this product, so in that sense, it might be adequate... ✓ Effectiveness: For me.. it really didn't work. Niacinamide is already a strong ingredient that doesn't suit my sensitive skin, and when I applied this product too, the synergy made my skin feel like it was burning.. I washed it off immediately. I think this product is for people with really healthy skin who want to improve it even more. ✓ I realize I've been complaining a lot... It might not suit my skin condition, so make sure to test it before buying!! You can test it at the 29cm offline store! - ki******Combination SkinRecommendedApr 18, 2020
Great for hydration. At first, I thought the texture might be a bit too rich for a hydrating emulsion, but it feels wonderful when patted onto the skin. The only downside is the small amount. For an emulsion, the quantity is disappointingly stingy! - dh********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinMar 10, 2020
Before I dive into my review, I should mention that I used this product in Canada during the extremely dry winter months. I appreciate that it comes in a small quantity at an affordable price, making it easy to give it a try. It didn't cause any significant irritation to my sensitive skin. Many people mentioned pilling issues in their reviews, but I didn't experience any pilling, even when layering, as long as I patted it in gently. However, I didn't wear makeup over it. This product really doesn't seem to work for me. It's the ultimate culprit for deep dryness. I bought it along with niacinamide since they're supposed to work well together, but my skin condition wasn't great to begin with. The niacinamide caused an intense burning sensation and redness, so I had to wash it off. Because of this, I couldn't really test how well they work together. Even after applying it over 5 layers of Bioderma mist, I still experienced severe dehydration. Not wanting to give up, I tried mixing it with The Ordinary's 'B' Oil and Borage Seed Oil. The result? A face that looked oily on the outside but felt parched on the inside. Living in Canada has made me appreciate Korean skincare products even more. For those with typically dry skin, I'd recommend using this only on summer nights, as it may not provide enough hydration for fall and winter. Before applying the product, make sure to use a hydrating serum or a deeply moisturizing product and let it absorb fully. Then, gently pat this product onto your skin. Be careful not to get it in your eyes, as it may cause irritation. - so*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinEnlarged PoresRecommendedFeb 19, 2020
My blemishes have significantly reduced. I think using it consistently alongside niacinamide has really maximized its effectiveness. When you rub it, it can pill, so you need to gently pat it in for better absorption. That's why I only use it at night. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 10, 2020
I've had combination dehydrated skin with acne for 10 years. Recently, my acne has improved a bit! Another The Ordinary product, their Niacinamide, is my holy grail... I used this product alongside it, and it noticeably faded my acne scars. I've been using it consistently every evening for over 4 months! While the effects aren't dramatic, it's definitely effective with consistent use. Plus, the affordable price is a huge advantage! This product proves that inexpensive doesn't mean ineffective! It's challenging to use in the morning. I've tried it a few times, but it pills terribly under makeup. Even when applying it alone, the product itself seems to pill. You need to pat it in firmly for it to absorb properly! Using this with Niacinamide is amazing! Since this product contains a Vitamin C derivative rather than pure Vitamin C, it's safe to use alongside Niacinamide! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinFeb 1, 2020
Overall impression: After using it for over 6 months, I didn't feel a strong need to continue with this product. When applied, it makes the skin feel slightly smoother. It was challenging to find the right amount, but once you get used to the scent and texture, it's manageable to apply. Despite having sensitive skin, I don't think this product ever caused any blemishes. The size was good for trying it out without committing to a large amount, and the price wasn't too high, making it easy to give it a shot. The brand's image of 'using only necessary ingredients' really resonated with me. (It's been over 6 months since I bought it, so I don't remember the exact wording, but that was the general idea) I have dry skin... and this product is drying... I didn't buy the essence(?) that's supposed to create a synergy effect when used together, so when my skin was dry, I absolutely couldn't use this. Nowadays, I've learned that it works better in combination with moisturizing emulsions or essences, so I'm using it without getting too dry. I bought this product after hearing it helps with scars and minor skin issues, but after using it for over 6 months, I'm not sure what's good about it... It's not particularly bad, but the scent is strong and it's drying, so I wonder if I really need to use this product... As mentioned earlier, the scent is strong... I'd never smelled magnesium before, so it took about 3 months to get used to it lol. Even now when I use it, I still think 'the scent is a bit much...' Rather than having a calming effect on the skin, it's closer to helping fade existing scars, so it was better not to apply it when my skin condition was really bad. Especially for those with dry skin! Before using this product, please use a moisturizing product first. Whether it's an emulsion or essence, it doesn't matter, but products that are only moisturizing when applied and dry out quickly won't help much. Apply a product that retains moisture well first, then apply this to avoid dryness. - yj******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 31, 2020
I think I experienced a tiny bit of hydration, but it's so subtle that I'm not entirely sure. There's absolutely no effect, and the price compared to the amount you get is downright evil... - Hwahae UserDry SkinRecommendedJan 17, 2020
The cream formula is easier to use than an ampoule, and it's not sticky, making it great for everyday application. It's a bit smaller than I expected, so it runs out quickly. It works much better when used together with 10% Niacinamide and 1% Zinc. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJan 13, 2020
Affordable price. Noticed an improvement in my complexion after just one week of use. (My skin is naturally fair, but I had redness due to blemishes. After using this product, I saw a noticeable improvement.) Surprisingly small amount (30ml). Causes tingling on sensitive skin. Skin becomes red immediately after application. I'm applying products in this order: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Tonic -> Niacinamide -> Magnesium - ka********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 17, 2019
It's definitely effective for hydration, and when used in combination with niacinamide, it's great for improving the appearance of red marks and scars. The scent is quite strong. People sensitive to smells might have mixed reactions, and the absorption could also be hit or miss for some.
