Whenever my skin acts up during seasonal changes or winter, I reach for this. Despite the many derma brands out there, I've tried various options, but this one's the best for me. Even considering the drawbacks I'll mention later, I keep coming back to this product. When my skin becomes sensitive due to seasonal changes, fine dust, or pollen, applying this soothes the tingling and dryness, and even calms redness. Of course, my case isn't severe enough to require a doctor's visit, so this cream alone helps me. It's especially beneficial to apply generously before bed. After neglecting my moisturizing routine for a few days, I noticed my daughter's cheeks became red and rough. I applied this to her skin too, and within days, it returned to normal. When it comes to calming the skin, there's truly nothing better than this.
ConsWith new products or ones unused for a while, it seems the cosmetic ingredients break down. A water-oil-like substance comes out. It's on the richer side, so if you're applying makeup over it, sunscreen or foundation might not blend well if they're incompatible. I don't use it before makeup. Although it's rich, it can feel drying. The hydration isn't enough, so in winter, my face feels tight if I only use this. The absorption isn't great. It feels a bit thick. The packaging used to be like an ointment in aluminum, which wasn't great, but thankfully it's been improved now.
TipApply thin layers multiple times. If you try to apply too much at once, it becomes thick and difficult to spread. Also, it's beneficial to apply a generous amount before bed.

No matter what products I tried, I couldn't see any noticeable improvements. However, with this product, after just 5 days of use, my skin calmed down, blemishes stopped appearing, and it seems like my skin barrier has been restored. Now I can use any product without adverse reactions, which is fantastic!
ConsWhen applying, it feels a bit thick and heavy, with a slightly rich texture. Also, since it's not a hydrating cream, continued use might leave your skin lacking moisture, so I recommend using it in combination with other products.
TipFor an extra boost in effectiveness, try using this along with Avene mist and serum.

I've heard from friends who absolutely love this, but if you're like me and don't enjoy formulas that feel oily and slippery, you might want to skip it. - It's great for hydration. The formula is quite rich, so it's sufficient even for winter use. I've seen some say it's too dry for winter, but I find even a small amount can feel excessive due to its richness, so I've never applied it liberally. - You feel the oil more than the hydration (If you're after hydration, this might not be for you!) - It leaves a slight whitening effect when first applied, but this disappears quickly as it absorbs.
ConsCons: - The texture makes me hesitant to use it often. It doesn't absorb well (it can feel a bit thick if your skin isn't already moisturized) and leaves a very oily feeling when applied. - I didn't notice any significant effects on my skin. While it didn't cause any blemishes, it also didn't seem to soothe my skin or calm any existing acne. - My skin felt somewhat congested and produced more oil, so I don't think it's suitable for those with oily skin.
Tip- It applies smoothly on the back of my hand, probably due to the warmth, but on my face it feels a bit thick unless my skin is already well-moisturized. It's best to apply this after using plenty of toner or serum to prep the skin.

Please, please give it to me... It has a thick, sticky texture, but it gives me a honey-like complexion.
ConsThe product doesn't spread smoothly - it's thick and tends to separate well... but it's worth the price.
TipWhen separated, coming together again warms the heart.

It wasn't bad at all.
ConsThe texture is a bit thick when applying, but it spreads well if you massage it thoroughly on the back of your hand.

In my early 20s, I went through a really tough time with cystic acne and then stubborn closed comedones. I had to pile on makeup to cover it up, and my self-esteem took a hit, especially when I was in sunlight and my uneven, bumpy skin was so noticeable. It became a vicious cycle - the more I tried to cover up, the worse my skin got. I even went to a dermatologist to get the comedones extracted, but it completely destroyed my skin barrier, leaving me with such bad redness that my foundation would melt off. I tried every cream that was supposed to be good, but nothing worked. I bought this one thinking I had nothing to lose... and I'm not exaggerating when I say it saved my skin. After just a month of using this, all my closed comedones were gone!
ConsAs everyone seems to agree, the texture when applying is really not great. It's quite thick and pasty, and especially if your skincare products underneath haven't fully absorbed, it just rolls around and won't spread evenly. However, even taking that into account, the effects are so powerful that I haven't found a better cream in years, no matter how expensive!
TipIf you apply it thickly on areas with severe cystic acne or closed comedones, you'll see a significant improvement by the next morning! It's more oil-based than water-based, so while you sleep, it might stick to your hair or pillowcase due to the oil content. In that case, laying down a towel before bed works well! I was also shocked by how difficult it was to apply at first, but if you mix it with a cream that has a decent consistency (like Estee Lauder cream, for example), it solves the application problem completely. It's also great to apply thickly after extracting blemishes.

Has a calming effect. Decent moisturizing power for dry skin. I bought this after hearing it's recommended by dermatologists for soothing and hydrating the skin after laser treatments. I use it occasionally when my skin looks blotchy. While I don't have blemish-prone skin, so I can't speak to its effectiveness on scars, it does seem to have a calming effect. I didn't experience any adverse reactions or new blemishes. As someone with dry skin, I find that when I apply it at night, I don't feel any tightness or discomfort, even without a thorough skincare routine. The hydration is satisfactory. It seems to contain some kind of calcareous ingredient, as it leaves a slight white cast when applied, similar to a mineral sunscreen. This does fade somewhat over time.
ConsThe texture is too thick and it doesn't absorb well. It leaves a white cast. The oily residue makes it more suitable for nighttime use rather than morning application. After applying your base skincare, when you put on the Cicapair, the initially solid cream seems to transform into a liquid upon contact with your face... It's an odd, semi-solid consistency. As you pat it in, you're left wondering what exactly you're spreading on your face - a mixture of residue and oil that's turned liquid. It takes quite a bit of effort to absorb, so I only reach for it occasionally when my skin isn't at its best due to the hassle.

Most of the ones on my chin seemed to disappear in just two days using this. It appears to fade marks quickly. After application, the cream formula brightens up my face.
ConsThe texture is quite thick and difficult to spread. Due to its heavy consistency, it's best suited for nighttime use only.

Despite focusing on hydration for 3 weeks with no improvement, I went to a dermatologist and got a prescription for a steroid emulsion. <Before Prescription> Toner I was using: (without ointment) tingling, (with ointment) slight tingling D-panthenol ointment: No tingling but no improvement Aloe gel (with ethanol): Extremely painful Regenerating cream I was using: Felt like hell when applied, not realizing it was the problem <After Prescription> Toner I was using: Fine Steroid emulsion: Stopped after 3 days due to tingling Aloe gel (without ethanol): Less painful after changing products, now fine Avène Cicalfate: Good - Applied without any ointment just in case, and it was fine <Overall Rating>●●●●● Very satisfactory. It's only been a week since I started using it, so it's too early to make definitive statements, but I'm satisfied. Most importantly, I can see improvement.
ConsThe cream's purpose is to 'improve skin damage from external factors,' so it's thicker than other types of moisturizers or hydrating products. At first, I wondered if I needed to apply an additional moisturizer due to this thick feeling, but I resolved it by simply reapplying when my skin felt dry.
TipThis is my first time experiencing something like this and trying different products. My skin is dry except for my nose, but it's usually quite resilient. I thought my skin was on my side since I could get by with just toner and ampoule without any issues. However, this skin rebellion made me realize... Yes, we need to take good care of our skin. If it throws a tantrum, there's no end to it!

Avène, thank you so much for removing mineral oil! After my dermatology treatment, I was reminded of the Cicalfate from before and came to buy it, only to find it's been renewed! (I've used both the original and blue gel versions before) In the past, I avoided it due to mineral oil causing blemishes... but I remembered how well it formed a protective skin barrier. Now that I'm a bit older, I thought maybe my skin wouldn't produce as much oil, so I decided to give it a try with mixed feelings. No blemishes! The effects are great! Plus, it's no longer in that metal(?) tube but a plastic(?) one, so it seems there won't be any coating powder coming out.
ConsHowever, it's still quite thick, making it a bit difficult to apply.
TipSo I squeeze out a generous amount, spread it evenly on my palms, and then pat it onto my face like a stamp.
