  I have oily skin, but this made it too dry... Using this product damaged my skin barrier... It accelerated dead skin cell turnover, made my skin flaky, and threw off my oil and moisture balance, causing even more excess sebum production.

  Review after one week of use: When used alone, it's not very hydrating, so I end up layering multiple times, which irritates my skin. I tried layering it three times and thought my skin was going to burn off... 😭 It might be best to use this only as a skin pack when your skin is really acting up. Or maybe to calm down severe redness? It's a bit difficult to incorporate into a daily routine. This product made me realize that Houttuynia Cordata works well with my skin. I've had severe redness since I was a baby, and nothing I tried seemed to help. Even popular Centella products didn't suit my skin, so I guess Centella just doesn't work for me... So I decided to try Houttuynia Cordata for the first time. I put it in a Daiso ampoule container and used it in layers: first as a toner, then as a mist, and finally applied my usual emulsion. I was surprised to see how quickly it calmed my redness. (Recently, I've been mixing it 50/50 with One Thing Calendula and using it as a mist! When I used Houttuynia Cordata alone, the moisture evaporated quickly, but mixing it with Calendula keeps it moisturized longer and feels great!)

  Cons

  Since it's an extract, it feels like it needs to be used up quickly. When used alone, it has no moisturizing power at all, so it's better to mix it with other products.
