  Great ingredients, quick absorption, and versatile for use all over The texture is like flowing water, and true to its extract nature, it has a brown color. The scent is typical of houttuynia cordata skincare products - nothing out of the ordinary, just that characteristic houttuynia aroma. I mix a few drops into aloe packs and modeling masks for use. While I didn't notice much effect with the modeling masks, I saw significant soothing benefits when used with aloe packs.

  Since I don't get blemishes, I'm generally satisfied using this product.

  I once had my eye on houttuynia cordata and centella asiatica products that were trending. This was the first product I tried from those I was considering. Using the extracts, I felt like a cosmetics researcher, adjusting and combining them. I boldly soaked a cotton pad with the extract and applied it to my face. The houttuynia cordata scent was quite strong. If houttuynia cordata works well for you, I'd recommend giving this a try. This brand seems to be the original when it comes to selling pure extracts.

  At that time, I was clueless about houttuynia cordata and centella asiatica. I thought they would provide hydration like hyaluronic acid, so I used it as a toner and followed with a cream. Absolutely do not do this. My skin became so dehydrated that it started itching. These days, there are many well-formulated products available, so it's better to buy those for special care unless you really want to experiment. I'm not very skilled at mixing, and my skin seems to reject herbal ingredients like mugwort. It's as if my skin is saying, 'Just because it's good for you doesn't mean I like it!'

  The ingredients seem gentle and good. I'm not using it currently, but I gave it to my sister to use. She says she can use it without any blemishes and it's quite suitable for her. The texture is lightweight, and the houttuynia cordata scent is a bit strong. It absorbs well into the skin.

  You need to carefully check if it suits your skin type. I have acne-prone skin, so I thought all products with BHA would work for me, but even after patch testing, this one caused more breakouts over time. However, I figured out why. I recently learned that I also have folliculitis on my facial skin, and apparently, products with BHA can further irritate folliculitis. If you have severe acne and this product makes your skin worse, you might want to consider the possibility of folliculitis.

  Tip

  For folliculitis, I've heard that you should apply Fucidin ointment daily, but only for up to 10 days. When folliculitis and acne occur together, it could be a sign of a compromised skin barrier. So, it's important to use regenerating and hydrating creams. Recently, for my skin barrier, I've been avoiding harsh cleansing and applying lots of moisturizer. As a result, my skin seems brighter and healthier.

  I bought this to mix with my toner because Houttuynia Cordata is known for its skin-soothing properties. The texture is truly like a water toner, and the scent isn't overwhelming for me - it's a fresh, natural fragrance. The color is a transparent brown. I mix it with my toner in a 5:5 or 7:3 ratio, and it's definitely better than not using it at all. While it doesn't magically clear up blemishes after one use, consistent application seems to have a calming effect on the skin.

  Cons

  However, the price keeps creeping up, which is disappointing. It's gotten more expensive, and I'm not sure if the soothing effect is dramatic enough to justify it. Maybe using the pure extract at 100% concentration would yield different results, but I'm not certain.
