The first product I encountered among the ones I had once considered buying was the Hwahae product that had suddenly become popular due to the Hwahae and Centella asiatica ingredients. As it was an extract, I felt like a cosmetic researcher as I adjusted and combined the usage. I boldly poured the extract onto a cotton pad and applied it to my face, but the Hwahae scent was quite strong. If Hwahae suits you, I would recommend trying it out. This brand seems to be the original(?) in selling just the extracts.

At that time, I was ignorant of Houttuynia cordata and Centella asiatica, so I thought they would have moisture like hyaluronic acid and used them as a substitute for skin toner and applied cream. You should carefully check if the product suits your skin type. I have acne-prone skin, so I thought products with salicylic acid would be fine for me, but even after using them, more pimples kept appearing on my face. I bought this Houttuynia cordata toner to mix in with my skin-soothing toner. The formula is really like a water toner, and the scent isn't overbearing or unpleasant to me - it's a healthy fragrance. The color is a transparent brown. I mix it with my toner at a 5:5 or 7:3 ratio, and it's better than not using it at all. But I don't see any immediate effects like acne calming or anything like that. However, it does seem to have a soothing effect if used consistently.
