It absorbs well, leaving the skin feeling moisturized yet with a soft, powdery finish that isn't sticky at all. I was hoping for a dewy glow, but it actually felt slightly matte. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 27, 2022
I'm shade 21. Even though this product is shade 2, it's slightly brighter, which worked well for me. Shade 1 might be better for those with really, really fair skin. When applied, it brightens the complexion and covers pores nicely. I've been using gentler products with less coverage, so this was a pleasant change! (((My personal rating))) Pore coverage: Above average. Complexion enhancement: Above average. Hydration: Slightly below average. Blemish coverage: Average. ---After using for another day: I lightened my skincare routine a bit, which helped with the pilling issue, but it still feels a bit dry, unfortunately. It's not very hydrating. It's not exactly drying, but it does pill... Think of it as semi-matte. Even though we're still in mask times, outdoor mask mandates have been lifted, and I often take mine off at work when no one's around. Despite not wearing a mask for long periods, it still pills quickly... This might be better suited for combination to oily skin types rather than dry skin. As I'm getting older, I feel like I'm moving away from combination skin... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 15, 2021
As for the good points... I honestly can't think of any for this cushion... The coverage seems to be almost non-existent. For an essence cushion, it was far too matte... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinJan 17, 2021
Skin type: Combination (Cheeks: Dry, T-zone: Oily) Pros: - Hydrating, perfect for winter use - I have a medium skin tone, and shade 2 matches my natural complexion, giving a 'my skin but better' effect - Beautiful yellow-based formula that gives a gorgeous glow and natural-looking finish - The packaging is absolutely adorable Cons: - The coverage isn't particularly high. You'll need to use concealer for additional coverage - In these mask-wearing times, I find myself reaching for matte cushions more often - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSep 21, 2020
This is a review from a Hwahae Tester in their late 20s with dry, blemish-prone skin! I was most attracted to this cushion because it contains propolis extract, which I usually love. Despite being a cushion, it hardly darkens, offers good coverage, and has long-lasting wear. I think my expectations were too high. Although it contains a high amount of propolis extract, the skin finish wasn't as hydrating as I expected. If you apply light skincare underneath, it might even feel semi-matte. The finish is thick and slightly matte. You need to apply it in thin layers due to its thick texture. Because of the thick finish, it tends to break down unevenly over time, which was disappointing. The shade came out extremely light. I used shade 23, but it felt lighter than most brands' shade 21. I love propolis, so I've tried products from CNP, Skinfood, and COSRX. COSRX was my favorite - it's the most hydrating, adheres thinly, and gives that perfect glowy skin look. It doesn't break down or lift, making touch-ups easy. That's its biggest advantage! (I recently bought it and have used it for about 3 days) CNP's strength is that it applies moisturizing while providing good coverage. However, it's somewhat thick, so when wearing a mask, your makeup can get quite messed up. (I bought this a year ago) Skinfood's cushion is slightly moisturizing with long-lasting wear and no darkening. However, the way it wears off isn't very pretty. It's more suitable for summer and could work well for those with oily skin! (This was the Hwahae Tester product) The glow can vary depending on your skincare routine. You can achieve anything from semi-matte to a nice dewy finish. Just make sure to apply it thinly. It can easily look cakey and ruin your complexion if applied too thickly. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSep 11, 2020
I have skin that usually uses shades 21-22, and shade 2 was perfect for me. Considering it's from the same line as the bestselling essence, I expected an extremely hydrating formula, but it's not that moisturizing. While it does have a basic bouncy texture that holds moisture, if you apply it thinly, the hydration seems to evaporate, leaving a rather matte finish. After setting with powder, it feels like a base that can somewhat withstand mask-wearing. The coverage was decent. I generally prefer a clear, ivory-toned base, but this isn't exactly yellow, nor is it grayish... The color is a bit ambiguous to call it pretty. One thing's for sure though, it's definitely not clear! The formula tends to apply thickly if you're not careful, which might contribute to this impression. However, since controlling the thickness of the base is a matter of personal skill, I don't find it too disappointing. In the 'good points' section above, I mentioned it feels matte as time passes, but this only applies when you've applied it very thinly (plus powder)! On days when I've accidentally applied it too thick, it transfers onto my mask. I think it's because the product itself is a bit sticky (or 'bouncy' to put it nicely). A beautiful base when applied thinly!
