A lip primer that enhances color payoff and longevity, with great ingredients too - it's a winner! Small but mighty, I'd say. It's tiny, which is a bit disappointing. On the bright side, it's very portable. - be******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedFeb 15, 2025
This lip balm has a unique texture that's hard to describe. When I apply it before a matte lipstick, it creates a smooth canvas without any clumping or emphasizing dead skin cells. My lips have a lot of fine lines and tend to get flaky, so I've always struggled with MAC's matte lipsticks (you know, the ones that feel like crayons). But when the store associate demonstrated this product paired with a matte lipstick, it glided on so beautifully that I was mesmerized and bought it on the spot. I'm really satisfied with my purchase. There's nothing particularly disappointing about it. The only thing is that the product quantity is a bit on the small side. - tn******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedDec 23, 2024
This has been a staple in my routine for a long time now. There's a noticeable difference when I use it versus when I don't. I always make sure to apply it before putting on matte lipstick. The finish feels silky smooth, and when I apply lipstick over it, it gives a velvety effect. It definitely reduces the appearance of dead skin cells. Plus, not only does it address the issue of flaky skin, but it also minimizes the accentuation of fine lines. I personally dislike when lipstick settles into wrinkles, making them more noticeable and messy. This product definitely helps to reduce that effect. I actually appreciate its thin consistency, which makes it convenient to carry around. I don't have any complaints about it. Make sure to moisturize your lips well the night before and gently press down on any dead skin cells! If you do this and then apply Mac Prep + Prime Lip, you can wear matte lipstick all day without emphasizing fine lines or flaking. Plus, your lips won't feel dry at all. - sg****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 12, 2024
This works incredibly well with matte lipsticks for that blurred lip effect. I feel like it even improves the staying power. It's become a staple in my routine. It doesn't have a shiny finish, but instead lays down smoothly on the lips. There's no sticky feeling at all. The amount of product is too small... It runs out after just a few uses. The price-to-quantity ratio is disappointing. It pairs perfectly with matte lipsticks, and honestly, it works well with most lip products. - go********Combination SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresRecommendedAug 10, 2024
It enhances the longevity of lip products and helps them adhere perfectly. It's also great for smudging lip products for a softer look. The downside is that it breaks easily and can get dirty as lip products tend to transfer onto it. - sk****Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsDead Skin CellsRecommendedJun 27, 2024
Even with chapped lips, you can still wear lipstick! It's been a nightmare since the beginning of this year with my chapped lips - swelling, oozing, and peeling. I've lost count of how many lip balms I've gone through because of my chapped lips. I can't not wear anything on my lips, but when I do, it just makes things worse - it's a vicious cycle. I've taken the medication prescribed by the doctor and applied Vaseline as directed, but the condition didn't improve easily. The Vaseline worked well at first, but over time, it became ineffective. Anyway, I ended up buying a MAC product, and when I use this along with my regular lip products, it's much better. Applying this product regularly and then putting on my lip products really helps reduce the irritation on my lips and keeps the moisture locked in for longer. It works great with my matte lipsticks. These days, those glossy 'jelly' lip products seem to be the worst for my chapped lips. They look nice only when first applied, but then my lips just get worse. I can't live without this product now - it's a lifesaver for my chapped lips. The volume is really! Too little, the price is really-- Using it up as we speak. Here's a chapped lip tip (though it may not work for everyone): In the evenings before bed, I apply Atopicarm cream and then wear it overnight. Before applying my lip products, I always make sure to use the MAC Prep + Prime Lip first. This keeps my lips moisturized and in good condition. - ba******Combination SkinInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 6, 2024
When I apply this before lip products (especially matte lipsticks), it improves adherence and color payoff. It also reduces transfer onto cups compared to not using it. It runs out quickly, making it less cost-effective for its price. - na*****Combination SkinAcne SkinWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedNov 23, 2023
I've always wanted to achieve a professional makeup look at home, but I hesitated to buy MAC lip products due to their less-than-ideal absorbs. Lip products should be easy to apply daily and feel inviting to use, but MAC's felt like crayons. However, I decided to try the Locked Kiss Lipstick and bought the Prep + Prime Lip along with it. I'm glad I did, and I'm enjoying using them together. While I haven't noticed any dramatic changes, it seems to do a good job filling in lip lines and supporting the color payoff and longevity of MAC lipsticks. If I continue using MAC lipsticks, I'll likely repurchase this product alongside them. However, it doesn't seem to be responsible for making the lipstick last incredibly long. (Even with this, it doesn't make everything last forever) Always buy it when it's on sale! - da**********Dry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedJun 4, 2023
Can be used as a substitute for lip balm. Works great as a base before applying matte lipstick. If you prefer very moisturizing lips, this might not be hydrating enough. It's ideal for use before applying a truly matte lipstick. - pu********Dry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedMar 11, 2023
It's great for blurring, so I often use it when applying matte lipstick. I also like that the ingredients themselves don't contain any harmful substances. The stick itself is quite thin, so it keeps wobbling when I'm trying to apply it.
