This is my holy grail cleansing water! While I only used other cleansing waters when I had light makeup on, this one has such great cleansing effectiveness that I find myself using it even when I'm wearing heavy makeup! Sometimes it might not completely remove waterproof products, so in those cases, you might need to use another product to finish the job. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMay 28, 2019
This is truly an excellent product. It's hard to find cleansers without PEG compounds, and those without them often lack cleansing effectiveness. However, this product has great ingredients and removes makeup well. It effectively removes sunscreen, foundation, and brow makeup, and even does a decent job on lip products. It's sufficient for removing base makeup. On those rare nights when I'm out late and too tired to wash up properly, I've just quickly wiped my face with this and gone to bed without any blemishes appearing. It doesn't cause any eye irritation when used around the eyes. Best of all, my skin doesn't feel dry after cleansing! The only downside is that it doesn't remove mascara, eyeshadow, or eyeliner very well. It seems that for point makeup, using a dedicated cleanser is still the best approach. I don't expect a cleansing water to do that much anyway, and to remove point makeup effectively, it would need an oil layer or stronger ingredients. So I'm satisfied using it as is. One thing I wish could be improved is the consistency. Since it has zero viscosity, it tends to pour out too quickly when applying to a cotton pad. It would be great if they could make it a bit easier to control the amount dispensed. Here's a tip for those with very dry skin: You know how they say to only use water for morning cleansing and save the cleanser for evening? Well, if just water in the morning feels too uncomfortable, try using this cleansing water first, then rinse with plain water. It feels much fresher, less sticky, and helps prevent oil buildup a bit. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 7, 2019
Of all the cleansing waters I've used, this one has the gentlest ingredients. It's PEG-free! I used to use Avène's Micellar Emulsion. It felt moisturizing, cleansed really well, and didn't cause any blemishes, so I was happy with it. But after learning it contained PEG, I didn't want to use it anymore. Just as I was about to finish it, Laneige released a cleansing water without harmful ingredients, so I gave it a try. Now I'm on my third bottle and still loving it. - It's not exactly budget-friendly. There are other great cleansing waters with similar volumes that are much cheaper. Paying full price for this can be a bit burdensome, so I usually only buy it when Aritaum has a 50% off or buy-one-get-one-free sale. - It seems to struggle with removing heavy makeup. I still use a separate lip and eye makeup remover for my eye makeup. - I use this with Clinique cotton pads, and they work well together! It doesn't feel like it removes everything in one go, so I usually wipe about two or three times. (Twice on days when I've only worn sunscreen, and about three times when I've used foundation.) - I recommend buying in bulk when Aritaum occasionally has buy-one-get-one-free or 50% off sales. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 9, 2018
I feel reassured by the quality ingredients. The packaging gives off a clean and pure impression. The scent is really off-putting, and when I try to remove makeup around my eyes, it stings so badly I can barely open them. Despite claims of removing waterproof makeup, it doesn't live up to that promise. It takes a lot of rubbing to remove pencil eyeliner, but that causes too much irritation. Overall, the cleansing effectiveness is quite poor. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAug 11, 2018
The price isn't bad, especially when you can snag a buy-one-get-one-free deal during sales The eyeliner doesn't budge. You'll need to use a separate eye makeup remover - Hwahae UserOily SkinJun 24, 2018
I'm not part of any official testing group or anything. I just urgently needed a makeup remover and wanted to try a cleansing water. I happened to come across this one on sale for 22,000 won, buy one get one free, so I decided to give it a shot. On the positive side, I suppose it doesn't irritate the skin much? That's about the only good thing I can say. First off, you have to really rub hard to remove mascara and eyeliner. I'm not sure if it's because I use heavy-duty waterproof products, but it's frustratingly difficult to remove... My eyelashes even started falling out while trying to remove my eye makeup. As a result, I'm planning to buy a separate remover specifically for eye makeup. Just buy something else... Trust me. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 5, 2018
Here's my review as a Hwahae Tester! 🍑 Hello there! I've always just used water to wash off my makeup, so this was my first time trying a cleansing water. I'm grateful for this new innovation and thrilled to be selected as a Hwahae Tester to write this review. First off, a big thank you to Hwahae! ❤️❤️ My skin type is sensitive, dehydrated, and oily. I'm usually scared to try just any product... This review is after a week of consistent use! Due to my job, I often perform and always need to wear makeup, so removing it was always a big task! I love that I can easily wipe it off anywhere with just a cotton pad, no water needed! It's especially great for those lazy nights when removing makeup feels like a chore. The ingredients are good, and after cleansing, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight. It feels really refreshing right after use! I dislike artificial scents, but this product has no irritating fragrance, which I really appreciate. I didn't experience any foaming - it felt like I'd just washed with water. I use quite a bit of product, especially on days with heavy makeup, but I don't have many complaints overall. I mostly do eye makeup, and well... it doesn't remove mascara or eyeliner applied to the waterline very well. It removes face makeup effectively, but for eye makeup, it falls short. Others said it worked well for them, but for me, it wasn't enough to completely remove eye makeup. So on days when I wear eye makeup, I use this along with a separate eye makeup remover. I'm not sure if I'm just not removing it properly, but it really doesn't come off easily. So on days with eye makeup, I just wash my face the regular way. One more thing I found disappointing: Although it's fragrance-free and non-irritating, if I leave it on my hands for too long, it starts to sting a bit. It's like a slight pain in my fingers? I didn't feel this on my face, but having sensitive skin, I was a bit worried about potential irritation. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinJun 4, 2018
When I use cleansing water with a cotton pad, it usually irritates my skin and causes redness. But with this product, no matter how vigorously I wiped, my skin didn't turn red at all! I love that it's slightly acidic and doesn't need to be rinsed off. Even without washing it off with water, my skin felt hydrated, and I didn't experience any blemishes the next day. Plus, the scent is universally appealing! Although it claims to remove waterproof makeup completely, I found that it didn't work well on mascara. I tried multiple times, but it just wouldn't come off! I think I'll need to use a dedicated eye makeup remover for that. While it's supposed to be a no-rinse formula, I still feel a bit uneasy and will probably follow up with a second cleanse. - Hwahae UserDry SkinJun 4, 2018
I used this by soaking a cotton pad generously. As someone with dry skin prone to flaking around the nose and cheeks, I was impressed that it cleanly removed those problem areas! The scent is quite subtle, and the texture is just like water! I usually do a two or three-step cleansing routine, and this product is great for that initial makeup removal step. I also love the simple packaging! Sometimes certain cosmetics are hard to use up completely due to their containers, but this one comes in a straightforward bottle which I appreciate. As you can see from the lip area, it doesn't completely remove long-lasting makeup like tints. However, this isn't an issue for me since I follow up with a cleansing foam. For those who only use cleansing water, I'd recommend a product with stronger cleansing power. This one might fall a bit short when it comes to removing mascara and lip tints thoroughly. I applied this using a cotton pad! If you want to exfoliate while cleansing, I recommend using it with a gauze-textured exfoliating cotton pad! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 3, 2018
I was honestly worried about trying a cleansing water for the first time, fearing it might irritate my skin. But those concerns were completely unfounded. They say we worry more as we age, and I guess that's true! This product is incredibly gentle. How gentle, you ask? Well, I wiped off my makeup with a cotton pad, and it came off so effortlessly that I doubted if it had actually worked. So I wiped again with a tissue, and sure enough, my skin was perfectly clean. It's like you don't even feel the cleansing process. Though, to be fair, I was removing my makeup after a night out, so my senses might have been a bit dulled. The sensation is similar to washing your face with cool peppermint water. I have generally dry skin with a slightly oily T-zone, and after cleansing, my cheeks felt a bit refreshed. It wasn't unpleasant at all, just a nice cooling sensation. This product is a lifesaver when you come home after a night out and can't be bothered to remove your makeup. Gone are the days when I'd stress about makeup removal before even starting to drink. Now, I can remove all my makeup in just 5 minutes using only 8 cotton pads. They say you don't need to cleanse again after using this product - so why wouldn't you buy it? I dislike the slippery feel of oils and the tightness after using emulsions, but this is perfectly balanced. While the price might be a bit steep, the large quantity makes up for it. If you're lucky enough to catch a buy-one-get-one-free deal, you must have done something amazing in your past life! While it's not a major drawback, it's worth noting that for waterproof products or those notorious for being hard to remove without a specialized remover - especially mascara - it's better to pre-cleanse with a dedicated product first. It's not that this cleansing water can't remove them, but it leaves things a bit ambiguous, often leading to double cleansing. I wonder if that's intentional... like they're telling us not to be lazy and to cleanse properly? As this was my first time using a water-based cleanser, I initially just wiped it off quickly. However, I found that pressing the cotton pad onto the skin to saturate it properly before wiping seems to remove makeup more effectively.
