I've been using this since winter as my evening moisturizer. It's rich but absorbs well. When my skin feels vulnerable, I apply a generous amount before bed. I don't use it in the morning because it's too thick and I'm worried it might cause my makeup to pill. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinMay 7, 2025
I highly recommend this for those with dry or very dry skin! The texture is a bit rich, so if you don't like sticky products, you might need some time to get used to it. I love that it's fragrance-free, and as someone who's been searching for the perfect hydration cream, I've finally found my holy grail with this one. I don't have any complaints personally, but I'd advise testing it first as it may cause blemishes depending on your skin type and sensitivity to certain ingredients. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinMay 6, 2025
It has a really thick, creamy texture - almost like applying an ointment. I have severe atopic dermatitis around my eyes, and while I was hesitant to use regular atopy ointments there for fear of getting it in my eyes, this Ato Balm is specifically designed for facial use. I'm now on my second tube and use it worry-free. It's my holy grail product, even recommended by staff at Olive Young! As someone who dislikes sticky textures, it's a bit disappointing that my hair tends to stick to my face when using this. However, its hydrating power is still top-notch. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 21, 2025
I really liked the rich, creamy texture. Despite the oil content, it surprisingly didn't trigger any breakouts. This would be perfect for those with dry skin rather than oily or combination dehydrated skin. There was a slight feeling that it might clog pores. The texture might feel a bit heavy for those with oily or combination dehydrated skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 14, 2025
It's perfect for dry baby skin. It's thicker than Physiogel, making it more effective in protecting delicate baby skin. There's nothing to complain about. It's excellent. I just wish it were a bit more affordable. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 23, 2024
The Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume is a product I've been repurchasing in bulk (500ml) even before The Hwahae Testers experience. It's become such an essential item that I feel anxious if I don't have it stocked up! While it has a slightly rich cream texture, it absorbs well and doesn't feel particularly sticky. The fragrance is nearly undetectable, making it suitable for most users. I find it great for facial use, but I especially love it as a body product. It's most useful during seasonal changes and winter. My facial skin tends to be sensitive, and my body skin is prone to allergic reactions and atopic flare-ups when I'm tired or use the wrong products. The Intensive Baume hasn't caused any issues on my sensitive body skin, which speaks volumes about its effectiveness. It's truly a holy grail product in my opinion. However, when using it on the face, daily use or summer application might lead to small blemishes, so it's best to adjust usage based on your skin condition. During seasonal changes or winter when you feel deep dryness, mixing a bit with your regular moisturizer works perfectly. I've used all of Bioderma's body products - Atoderm Ultra-cream, PP Baume, and Intensive Baume - but the Intensive Baume is my favorite. To briefly compare: The Ultra-cream has the thinnest consistency, absorbs the easiest, but lacks hydration for seasonal changes and winter. That's why I prefer the PP Baume and Intensive Baume. However, if you want a lighter, emulsion-like texture, the Ultra-cream is perfect, especially for summer use. Both PP Baume and Intensive Baume offer excellent hydration! The PP Baume has a slightly thinner texture and absorbs faster, but I now exclusively use the Intensive Baume. The main reason is my atopic skin. If I didn't have atopic dermatitis, I might alternate between them. Personally, I find the finish of the Intensive Baume feels cleaner. Both products are highly moisturizing without feeling overly sticky after absorption. While the PP Baume is also moisturizing, it stung when applied to allergic or atopic skin and didn't significantly improve redness. In contrast, the Intensive Baume calms allergies and atopic flare-ups, with noticeable improvements over time. This experience led me to stick with the Intensive Baume! Fortunately, I don't have constant atopic skin, but it flares up when I'm tired, my immunity is low, or my skin is extremely dry. Applying the Intensive Baume during these times provides a soothing effect, making it an essential item for me. I cautiously recommend the Intensive Baume to those with sensitive skin or atopic concerns. If you have skin issues or are looking for a moisturizing cream for seasonal changes or winter, this could be an excellent choice! If I had to find a downside, it's that I can't use it daily on my face like I do on my body. I recommend the large size product! While the Intensive Baume might feel heavy for daily body use, applying it when your skin is slightly damp after showering greatly improves the experience! It seems to absorb even better. Sometimes I crave scented body creams, but when I find one that smells good but lacks hydration, I mix it with the Intensive Baume. This creates a body cream that's both fragrant and deeply moisturizing! - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 23, 2024
Hydration and Moisture I knew Bioderma products were generally moisturizing, but this one really takes it to the next level! You can feel the hydration in its rich, slightly thick texture. The moisturizing effect lasts for a long time too. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I found it wasn't too greasy and was just right for everyday use. I think those with dry skin will love it even more! I'm looking forward to using it even more when autumn comes. Scent I'm not a fan of artificial fragrances, so I was worried this might have one. Fortunately, it doesn't! Even those sensitive to scents should be fine using this product. Application While it's slightly thick and rich, it doesn't feel heavy like a balm. Instead, it applies smoothly like an emulsion, which I really appreciate. I don't like products that feel suffocating on the skin, and this one doesn't at all. Suitable for Atopic and Sensitive Skin As someone with atopic skin, I can't say for sure if it improved my condition, but I definitely felt like it suited my skin well due to its excellent moisturizing properties. Some other products occasionally cause blemishes or just don't seem to work for me, but this one was gentle and compatible with my atopic skin. Slight Stickiness Compared to other hydrating products, it does have a thicker, richer texture when applied, which results in a slight stickiness. It's not overly bothersome, but you can definitely feel a bit of tackiness. Seasonality Personally, I found it a bit heavy for summer use. I think it would be better suited for autumn or winter when you need that extra moisture boost. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I think this is a product I'll use more in autumn and winter rather than summer. Those with dry skin will likely find it suitable for year-round use. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinSep 20, 2024
1. Texture As someone with atopic skin, I usually experience itching, peeling, and even oozing during seasonal changes. This typically happens in folded areas or places with thin skin like the lips. This cream was perfect for applying to those areas! Some creams are too oily, which doesn't really moisturize but just feels sticky and itchy. Others are too light and dry out quickly. But this one has just the right consistency - thick enough to apply well! It worked great on both body and face!!! 2. Scent I'm usually put off by artificial fragrances, but this cream doesn't have that issue. I'm especially sensitive to scented products on my face and delicate areas. This cream has no off-putting smell! It just has that typical unscented cosmetic smell. 3. Effectiveness My chest area tends to get very dry with visible dead skin cells. When I applied the cream there, it immediately calmed the flaking! It left my skin feeling soft and hydrated, which was great! For my face, it provided good hydration without causing any blemishes!! I'd say that's pretty effective! Nothing really... If I had to pick something, I wish it came in a larger size or had a body-specific version! - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinSep 20, 2024
Love that it's fragrance-free. The texture is rich but spreads easily, with a hydrating feel towards the end. I'd prefer to use it on my face when it's even colder. Though it's labeled for face and body, I find it works best as a hand cream. Fragrance-free + non-sticky + moisturizing + doesn't feel weird even if you wash your hands right after! Nothing negative to report. Perhaps it's a bit pricey if you're buying it solely as a hand cream? It's fantastic as a hand cream. For the face, it might be better suited for winter. I can see myself carrying it around in winter and applying it to my face when my skin feels dry. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 20, 2024
If you have dry skin, this is the ultimate cream! If you're searching for a cream to combat dryness, I absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend this one. With its rich texture, just one application tackles dryness and significantly reduces dead skin cells. I have combination dehydrated skin on my face and dry skin with mild eczema on my body. When I used it on my face, it didn't cause any major blemishes, but it felt a bit heavy due to my oily tendencies. Feeling slightly disappointed, I tried it on my body... and wow! The itchiness from dryness disappeared, and the hydration lasted for hours after application. The next morning when I showered, my skin felt incredibly smooth and moisturized, which was so satisfying. While it's not completely free of stickiness, it's definitely worth using if you want to combat dryness. If you apply it generously to dry skin or specific dry areas and shower the next day, you'll feel like you've just had an expensive dermatologist treatment! The photos show: 1 & 2 - Before use 3 - Generous application 4 - After absorption If you have oily skin, it might feel a bit heavy. Also, there's a slight stickiness, but personally, I think a bit of stickiness equals hydration! As you can see in the photos, if you apply it generously and sleep, those dry, flaky areas disappear completely, leaving your skin soft and smooth! It's truly amazing!
