Skin condition - severe deep dryness and compromised skin barrier Sunscreen is crucial, so I tried the Lancôme Watery Soft Sunscreen. As the name suggests, it's truly a watery sunscreen. It feels like a thin emulsion, giving a cool sensation upon application. Applying it felt like putting on an essence, and it went on transparently. Even with makeup on top, it kept my skin moisturized and applied smoothly. What I loved most was that unlike other sunscreens, it wasn't sticky at all, leaving my skin feeling fresh. I'm not sure if it's because I wear contact lenses for long periods, but I experienced slight eye irritation. Also, if you mix it with a moisturizer or emulsion before applying, it might pill a little bit like dead skin cells. It works well when mixed with a hydrating cream for a moisturizing effect. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJan 8, 2024
First off, the long, white container seems to fit perfectly with the winter season. The texture is somewhere between an emulsion and an essence - a thin consistency that spreads on the face with an incredibly hydrating feel. There's absolutely no stickiness or white cast. Even my mom, who has dry skin, says it keeps her feeling moisturized all day long. That's why I think it's an ideal product for winter use. The formula is a bit too watery for me. When I apply my usual base makeup over it, it tends to pill up like dead skin cells. Use a moderate amount and gently pat it into your skin for better absorption. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinJan 5, 2024
The texture is a slightly yellow-tinted white, reminiscent of a thin emulsion. There's a faint artificial scent, but it disappears when applied, so it could be considered fragrance-free. Its fluid emulsion-like consistency allows for easy application without leaving a white cast. When applied, it gives a subtle glow without feeling sticky. It feels like it's hydrating the skin, adhering well to the face like a moisturizing emulsion. It's perfect for light outings and convenient to carry. It's gentle enough that it doesn't irritate the skin or sting the eyes. The tube packaging is hygienic. Due to its thin emulsion-type consistency, you need to apply it quickly before it drips. If you rub it a bit after application, it pills like dead skin. The price seems a bit high for this amount of product. While it's a hydrating sunscreen, it may not provide enough moisture on its own. For best results, apply a hydrating base first, then follow with this sunscreen to maintain long-lasting hydration. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 3, 2024
I was searching for a moisturizing sunscreen when I got selected for The Hwahae Testers, so I had the chance to try this out. It applies smoothly like an emulsion and absorbs well. The lightweight formula doesn't make my skin feel suffocated at all. As someone with super sensitive skin that breaks out easily with the wrong products, I'm happy to report this doesn't cause any blemishes! This has never happened with other products, but sometimes when I pat on cushion foundation after applying this sunscreen, it pills like dead skin cells. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 1, 2024
This sunscreen has a texture that glides on smoothly like an emulsion! I find this type of sunscreen particularly great when applying makeup. Especially in dry seasons like now, I tend to reach for sun products with this emulsion-like application more often. I love that the nozzle is narrow, allowing for precise targeting of specific areas. The fact that it's unscented is also a plus - strong fragrances can be bothersome. The product applies smoothly like an emulsion, but the finish doesn't feel overly greasy. It leaves the skin feeling adequately hydrated with a soft, supple finish. There's no white cast at all. With no irritating sensation, it's a sunscreen that anyone can use comfortably without issues. There wasn't anything particularly disappointing about it. However, with this type of moisturizing and fresh texture, if you choose the wrong cream, it can pill like dead skin cells. When applying foundation, it might be best to pat it on as much as possible. - Hwahae UserDry SkinDec 9, 2023
*The Hwahae Testers Review* Recently, many essence-type sunscreens have been released, and this product is exactly that - an essence or thin emulsion-type sunscreen. When you squeeze it onto your face, it immediately drips down. This allows for a light and wide application. As someone with extremely dry skin, I absolutely can't use sunscreens with a matte finish, but this one is moisturizing perfection. It feels like it has more hydration than oil content! I finish my skincare routine with jojoba oil, and I love that I can apply this product right after without any pilling. Plus, it's fragrance-free, so there's no worry when applying. With no white cast, no scent, low irritation, and packed with hydration, I'm extremely satisfied overall! After using a multi-balm and then applying this sunscreen, it pills up like dead skin! I think it might only work well when applied with oils. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinDec 8, 2023
✓ Texture: True to its 'Water Soft' name, it has a gentle feel on the skin. ✓ Formula and application: It's like water! I've tried many sunscreens with good absorption, but this one stands out with its water-like consistency. It feels as light as a moisturizer. ✓ Skin irritation: Despite my skin being sensitive lately due to acne, I didn't feel like this made my skin worse. It's gentle. ✓ Brightening: None at all. I recommend this for those looking for a lightweight, water-like sunscreen without any brightening effects. ✓ Pilling: Everything was satisfactory except for one thing... Unlike the G* mugwort sunscreen I used before, which never pilled under my cushion foundation, this one pills badly! I use a matte cushion, and I was shocked to see it pill for the first time. ✓ Oiliness: It tends to make my skin oilier faster and more noticeably than my previous sunscreen. (I have combination dehydrated skin) Be sure to test how it works with your cushion foundation before using it for a full face of makeup! ✓ Recommended for: Those who want to quickly apply a light sunscreen without makeup for short outings. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 7, 2023
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers! I have combination dehydrated skin that's super sensitive and prone to redness. My face tends to feel hot, and I struggle with blemishes and tingling from even minor irritations. In my opinion, the strength of Laneige sunscreen lies in its texture! It has a light ivory color with a fluid cream consistency. The texture is just perfect - like a thin cream mixed with essence, or a moisturizing emulsion. Don't worry, it's not runny enough to drip. This creates an ideal base for makeup, whether you're using cushion foundation, liquid foundation, or concealer. It doesn't leave your skin too oily or dry, but preps it perfectly for makeup application. Another great point is that it doesn't have that strong typical sunscreen smell, and it doesn't sting my eyes at all! Well, it seems to be a bit picky about what skincare products it pairs well with. It didn't quite mesh with my usual skincare routine, sometimes pilling around my chin area like dead skin. My previous skincare products would leave a thin, tape-like film after absorption. Switching to a formulation with a balanced oil and moisture content solved the pilling issue. However, I ultimately needed to adjust my essence and moisturizer to make it work! With my combination dehydrated skin type, most other sunscreens left my skin quite oily, so I used to only apply toner and essence before makeup. But this Laneige sunscreen doesn't feel overly rich. So I found it works great when I apply a very thin layer of moisturizer too! The photos show the product as delivered, my skin with just skincare, the texture of the product, the product spread on my face, and after applying the sunscreen. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 3, 2023
1. Texture The formula applies smoothly like water without leaving any white cast. It's clean, easy to layer, and feels hydrating. 2. Gentle on skin It's very mild. Perhaps due to the formula, there's hardly any irritation during application, and I didn't feel much irritation afterwards either! 3. Hydration It's extremely moisturizing. You can really feel the hydration. It's truly hydrating, although it can be a bit uncomfortable when hair sticks to it. I do appreciate how moisturizing it is. 1. Scent There's a strange, unpleasant odor when you first use it. I'm not sure why, but it's there... A chemical-like smell, perhaps? 2. Pilling It pills up like dead skin cells... I tried applying it even after light skincare, but it still pills. This means I won't be able to use it under makeup. 3. Dryness It was moisturizing at first... But as time passed, it dried out and made my skin feel even drier? This is disappointing... I'm glad I received this product for free, because for a sunscreen costing around $40, it falls short. Both in terms of value for money and results...
