For mascara, pearlescent products, or heavy makeup, I wouldn't recommend this. As mentioned earlier, even light makeup requires at least two or three rounds of removal, and residue remains in the pores. While it feels refreshing at first, there's a slightly oily feeling left behind. Although it's marketed as a no-rinse product, I don't think I could bear not following up with a second cleanse. Personally, I use this cleansing water to thoroughly remove point makeup, then gently cleanse my skin, always following up with a second cleanse. I find this method less irritating for my skin. Make sure to saturate a soft cotton pad and remove makeup gently to minimize irritation. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinFeb 26, 2019
First of all, it's incredibly gentle! Given the nature of cleansing waters, you tend to use quite a bit, but the price is so reasonable that I love using it for light cushion makeup. Plus, my skin feels hydrated after use! However, after wiping once, it feels like some of the base makeup is still stuck in my pores. So when I'm wearing foundation, I wipe twice and follow up with a second cleanse. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 17, 2018
First off, this product is The Saem's star performer... really. I'll admit I'm not someone who enjoys wearing makeup. I use this as my first cleansing step to remove everything - lips, eyes, skin - then follow up with a cleansing foam. I first tried it when my sister had double eyelid surgery. The hospital recommended it as a gentle alternative to face washing, saying just wiping with this would do wonders. After she healed, she didn't need it anymore and gave it to me. This became my go-to cleansing product and will be for life. The Saem, please keep selling this until I die (pretty please)! It's a water-based formula, which is great because oil-based products give me blemishes. It has an incredibly clean feel and a fresh, cool scent that even I, who hates perfumey smells, don't mind. But most importantly, it removes makeup ★★★★amazingly well★★★★. Even waterproof products melt away easily. It's incredible! I thought all cleansing products were like this, haha! Just soak a cotton pad and wipe your face - that's it. It even removes base makeup stuck in pores if you pat gently. Oh Saem, have I mentioned I love you? For those worried about eye makeup, use a cotton swab. Soak it well and gently wipe - less irritation and the eyeliner comes right off. I accidentally poked my eye with a soaked cotton swab once. It stung a bit, like getting something in your eye, but wasn't too bad. Still, don't put it in your eyes! I also use it on my lips and once accidentally swallowed some while rinsing. It doesn't taste like much, probably less harmful than toothpaste, but don't drink it. It's not tasty, a bit bitter... There's no tightness after cleansing. I have a lot of acne, though now just scars thanks to dermatologist magic. But once, I was too lazy and only removed my makeup with this before passing out. When I woke up, my inflamed spots had calmed down - a miracle★★! This is revolutionary. Everyone should try it at least once. ★ When you're too lazy to wash your face, you can just use this and go to sleep without getting blemishes, haha! It's amazing!★ Like with all cleansing products, if you try to be too economical, you'll end up with leftover makeup. That's how I ended up with skin issues and large pores I'll have for life... haha. Everyone, use it generously! It's affordable. I usually use one layer of a 5-ply cotton pad, which is about 3 regular cotton pads worth. Cleanse thoroughly★★★ If you're lazy or trying to save product by only using enough to dampen the cotton, it won't clean your pores properly. Oh, maybe that's just because I have large pores, haha. I soak the cotton until it's dripping (even then, the bottle lasts a long time... I used two bottles for over a year) and press it on my face repeatedly. Not much else to add, but buying this is definitely worth it. It's so good, buy it twice, buy it three times! Get it when it's on sale. Though the discount is only 20%... - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinOct 22, 2017
It washes off well and most importantly, the capacity is large for the price and the product is good! There doesn't seem to be a good cleansing water at this price, so I've been using it consistently for years haha There's not really any disappointing point, but it feels like it can't completely remove the makeup residue (?) stuck in the pores and sebum..? Even if you've thoroughly cleansed with the cleansing water, double cleansing is a must!^^ - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinOct 6, 2017
The price is affordable, and it washes off well, so I've repurchased and used it multiple times! I like that it's gentle, so I keep using it. I don't use cleansing oils or creams because I don't like the slippery feeling, but this cleanses thoroughly and leaves me feeling clean. After using it, my skin feels a bit dry, which is a bit disappointing. It doesn't clean deep into the pores, so I wish I could immediately wash my face after using it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 24, 2017
The makeup is light and refreshing, and the fragrance is quite nice. The light makeup washes off easily. Makeup that heavily covers the skin or is applied thickly does not wash off well between the pores. It should be taken into account that this is the first cleansing. If you rub too hard with the cotton pad, it can damage the skin. As everyone knows, you should gently dab and rub the area you want to remove to minimize skin damage. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinApr 6, 2017
I tried The Face Shop's cleansing water for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by its effective cleansing power. Most importantly, it did not cause any irritation or breakouts on my sensitive skin, and I found it especially refreshing to use in the summer. Point makeup and clogged pores are not completely removed, so you definitely need to do additional cleansing. It's puzzling why the product description states that you don't need to do a separate water cleanse, when that seems necessary. I switched from using the Bioderma cleansing water because it was too expensive, but I didn't really notice a big difference with this cleansing water!!! You have to wipe it off several times when cleansing, but it doesn't irritate the skin at all. It also removes eye makeup pretty well, and the scent isn't too strong, so it's comfortable to use. Since it's a no-rinse formula, you don't need to use a cleansing foam afterwards, which I think is good for dry skin. I've heard that using cleansing foam too often can be bad for dehydrated skin!! Anyway, there must be a reason why popular products are popular haha this is an amazing value cleansing water!! I think I'll use this consistently from now on:) Even though I have trouble-prone skin, I've never had any breakouts from using this water! It can sting the eyes sometimes ㅠㅠ So I usually don't use this water to remove eye makeup!! And since I have large pores, just using a cleansing water may not be enough to fully remove all the makeup from my pores. So if you have large pores or makeup really gets stuck in your pores, a double cleanse would probably be necessary:( You can stock up on this during The Face Shop's sale periods to get it at a really affordable price! I've heard that when using a cleansing water to remove makeup, it's best to soak a cotton pad with a lot of the water and then wipe, to minimize skin irritation. So the cotton pad being well-soaked with the water works great! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 21, 2017
I tried the cleansing water for the first time after seeing reviews on Hwahae, and I'm really enjoying using it!! I think it would be great for students! It's affordable and the water feels gentle, though I'm not sure if it's truly non-irritating or not. When I just use the water and then follow up with a foam cleanser later, I don't feel any tightness or discomfort in between! Overall, I'm really happy with it! The only downside, and I'm not sure if it's just me, is that for those with a lot of pores, it doesn't feel like it fully cleans the pores. There's a white residue left behind, so you really have to scrub thoroughly and follow up with a foam cleanser. Since I haven't tried other cleansing waters, I can't really compare it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMar 12, 2017
- After suffering from cystic acne, I tried Clo and it helped eliminate all my cystic acne. It seems more like it was due to stopping Clo rather than the product itself. - It's refreshing and lightweight, perfect for combination skin types in the summer. There's no residue left behind. - Great value for the money! It's even better when on sale. - The cleansing power is amazing!!! Seeing it wipe away everything is so satisfying. - It managed to clear the cystic acne, but couldn't get rid of the closed comedones. Looking at the ingredients, there were some pore-clogging components. - A very slight dryness? After switching to a different product based on the ingredients, I now use it to clean my puff and brush. It rinses off incredibly well!
