I'm excited to share my review as a winner of The Hwahae Testers program. First, let me describe my skin type. I have combination dehydrated skin - my T-zone, around my nose, and cheeks are quite oily. After wearing makeup for a while, my skin gets shiny. However, after cleansing, my skin feels tight and dry. Without makeup, you can see that I have large pores and quite a few blackheads on my nose. That said, my skin isn't particularly sensitive to different products, and I rarely get blemishes except for the occasional one on my chin during my period. Interestingly, despite having large pores and lots of dark spots on my cheekbones, I don't get many blemishes. It's a bit unusual, as typically oily skin with large pores is prone to blemishes, while dry skin with dark spots usually doesn't have many blemishes. Anyway, my skin isn't particularly reactive to skincare products. I've always used light formulas like foam or water toners, so when I won this oil toner, I was grateful but hesitant to try it. I actually left the package untouched for a few days after receiving it. But about a week later, I thought, 'I need to try it to write a review!' So, with a solemn heart, I opened it and used it. And wow, I was surprised from the first use! Let me share my honest thoughts: Texture: I expected it to be heavy since it's an oil toner, but as you can see in the photo, when you shake it and pat it on your face, it feels just like water. Surprisingly, it doesn't feel oily at all. I really enjoyed the lightweight feel - it's like a light coating on the skin! I was so intrigued by the texture that I kept reapplying it. Application: Because the formula is so light, it spreads easily, like water gliding across your skin. It absorbs quickly when you pat it in, leaving a fresh feeling. I really liked how it applied! It's only called an oil toner - it's not heavy at all, but leaves a light, moisturizing coating on the skin. Absorption/Hydration: As I mentioned, I have oily-leaning skin, and I was scared to even open the toner for days, fearing it would be too heavy. But the absorption was so much better than I expected that I kept reapplying it. The hydration wasn't bad either! However, it didn't seem to address deep dryness. But because it absorbs so well, I think it would be great as a toner mask if you soak a thin cotton pad with it.
ConsThe downside is that the regular price seems a bit expensive to buy at full cost. However, I'm satisfied with how it feels on my skin, so I would consider repurchasing it. Oh, and having to shake it before each use turned out to be more inconvenient than I expected! There was a time when I forgot to shake it, and the application and feel were noticeably worse. Also, the container is not user-friendly. It's awkward to dispense into your hand, and a lot of product splashes out and runs down the sides, wasting more than you actually use.
TipThis toner isn't meant to be used with a cotton pad. It feels more like a skin essence, so what I do is pour some into a small mist bottle and keep it in the bathroom. Right after cleansing, I shake it, spray it directly on my face, and pat it in - it's great for hydration!

I have oily, acne-prone sensitive skin. However, recently, possibly due to dermatological medication, my skin seems to have become dehydrated underneath. 1. I found this product to be quite rich. It's crucial to protect the skin barrier without damaging it, especially in winter. Since this product passed low-irritation tests, I believe it's effective in protecting the skin barrier and providing hydration. When you actually use it, you can feel it's packed with both moisture and oils that don't dry out quickly. My acne, which had quite severe redness, showed significant improvement after about a week of use. 2. True to its 'Rice' name, it feels gentle due to the use of rice and other natural ingredients. It's not easy to wash your face with rice water, so it's great to have it in a product form. I was skeptical about its soothing effects at first, but now, after using it for over a week, I'm pleased to see that the redness from both my closed comedones and pustules has significantly reduced. (I'm 100% sure I'll repurchase this when it runs out, if only for the acne benefits.)
Cons1. It's inconvenient that you have to shake it. If you don't shake it, only the emulsion or toner comes out, separating like oil and water. But I think we have to accept this since it's necessary for balancing the formula. 2. I'm not sure how to apply this properly. It has a watery consistency, so it tends to drip. If I pat it on my face, it runs off my hands. If I try to use a cotton pad, I feel like the emulsion gets absorbed by the pad and doesn't transfer to my skin. (I'm worried about damaging my skin barrier if I rub too hard, especially since I have acne-prone skin that can't tolerate even the slightest irritation.) So, the method I've come up with is mixing it with an emulsion I already have (which also has some runniness - the Scinic emulsion). When mixed, it becomes a semi-solid that's easier to apply!
TipIt's easier to apply if you mix this product with an emulsion you already have on your hand. See the 3rd attached photo for the mixing method.

However, as a person with oily, sensitive skin experiencing severe dryness, I decided to give it a try despite my blemishes. Firstly, compared to other products, it instantly eliminates dryness upon application. After applying it at night, I woke up feeling like my skin had become more translucent with a glow, possibly due to the rice ingredients. Seeing that my blemishes didn't worsen, I continued using it for about 3 weeks. The result? My skin looks clearer and brighter overall. By addressing the dryness, it keeps my skin hydrated, which actually prevents severe blemishes and small bumps from forming. I realized how crucial the oil and moisture balance is. Even for oily, sensitive skin, when experiencing deep dryness, oil-based ingredients can be beneficial! The texture is very fluid, like water. It takes a bit of time to absorb, so I pat it in for about a minute after applying, then follow up with a cream once it's dry. This method creates a protective, moisturizing layer on the skin. I highly recommend this as a hydrating product for combating dryness in fall and winter! It's also quite cost-effective as you only need a small amount for ample hydration. After 3 weeks of use, I've only used about 1/4 of the bottle. The scent is mild, almost fragrance-free. I'd recommend this to anyone struggling with imbalanced oil and moisture levels in their skin.
ConsPossibly due to the oil content, the bottle becomes slippery after use. The water-like consistency means it can easily spill if you're not careful when pouring. Other than that, everything else is great!

I'm one of The Hwahae Testers chosen to review the Hayejin Rice Filler Oil Toner. I've been using this product every morning and evening for about a week, and I'm ready to share my honest thoughts - as clear as the pores you see in the photos! First off, I have combination dehydrated skin that can feel both oily and dry. During my school days, I made the mistake of squeezing my pores unnecessarily, following my friends' lead instead of listening to my mom. This left me with enlarged pores and super sensitive skin. To top it off, I have atopic and keloid-prone skin, so as an adult, I've been extra careful about maintaining my skin condition. For me, oil-based products have always been a challenge. When they work, it's fine, but when they don't, it's straight to the dermatologist! So I've generally tried to avoid oils. However, last month I felt an intense deep dryness, and no matter what I applied, my skin felt tight and stretched. This led me to purchase an oil. I bought a lightweight oil to avoid overwhelming my skin, but it didn't solve my deep dryness issue. While my skin looked shiny on the surface after applying the oil, it still felt like a drought-stricken land underneath. Then I encountered this product. Initially, I had low expectations - I mean, how effective could an oil that applies like a toner be? I was pleasantly surprised. The texture is surprisingly thin - I was shocked, thinking, 'Is this really mixed with oil?' It's very clear and lightweight, feeling more like a regular toner than an oil. This made it easy to use consistently for a week without any hesitation. The application is smooth, which you can tell by how often I reached for it. It's thin enough to pat onto the skin with your hands or apply with a cotton pad, without any of that sticky feeling typical of oils. Absorption is also great due to its thin texture - it doesn't feel heavy on the skin at all. I usually prefer lightweight toners that are easy to apply with a cotton pad, as I like to maintain a balance with all my skincare products. This product, despite containing oil, absorbs quickly and doesn't feel burdensome at all. Now, let me shout about its hydrating power - it's probably the biggest pro of this product. Remember how I mentioned my deep dryness issues at the start? Well, on the first day of using this, I was still disappointed. On the second day, I still felt the dryness but decided to give it more time. By the third day, I was ready to write it off. But on the fifth day? Suddenly, I realized my skin wasn't dry anymore! It was amazing - nothing else in my routine had changed, but the deep dryness was gone. And it's stayed that way until now. If you have dry, sensitive skin that's acting up due to seasonal changes, give this a try. If you're scared of applying oils, try this too. I highly recommend it! While the price (35,000 won for 150ml) isn't cheap, I'd recommend this toner to anyone looking for a product that can reduce dryness and be used comfortably without any burden. It didn't cause any blemishes, and it's so comfortable that I reach for it instinctively. I love it!
ConsFirstly, I couldn't find any particular features of this product that would cause skin irritation. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the price. It's expensive! While I want to spread the word about good products, the high cost creates a barrier. Oh, and one more thing - despite the clear, thin texture of the product, the bottle opening is too ordinary. It's difficult to dispense just the right amount cleanly, and I worry about spillage every time I use it.
TipHere's a pro tip for using this product - it's all about timing! Apply it within 10 seconds after showering! Apply it within 10 seconds after washing your face! The faster you apply it, the better it absorbs and hydrates. That's why I always apply the toner first after cleansing, then do other tasks (like drying my hair or applying body lotion) before moving on to other skincare steps. It might seem trivial, but you'll notice a difference in effectiveness depending on the timing.

The uncommon ingredients like rice bran extract and rice bran oil were a refreshing surprise. I had high hopes for this product's focus on hydration, and it didn't disappoint! As someone who usually mixes facial oil with regular toner, this custom toner eliminated that extra step for me. Every year from this season until spring, I struggle with dry, flaky skin around my cheeks and mouth. But with this product, my skin feels moisturized on the surface and deeply nourished underneath! It's perfect for my dry skin! When you mix the water and oil layers well, it has a lovely warm sunlight hue. As a bonus, I appreciate the eco-friendly packaging with minimal paper materials, making me feel good about recycling!
ConsI usually apply toner with my hands to avoid wasting product on cotton pads. While the bottle's opening allows for good control when dispensing, the product tends to drip when I'm rubbing it between my palms to apply on my face. I wish it came in a spray bottle format.
TipThis product feels like it provides intense hydration with an oil coating. For best results, I recommend applying a water-based toner right after cleansing, letting it absorb slightly, and then following up with this product for maximum moisture! I tried using it with a spray bottle I had at home, and it works perfectly fine! The product sprays evenly without any issues. I highly recommend repurposing it as an oil mist using a spray bottle!

I never use regular toners. Instead, I opt for products rich in moisture or with an oily texture, starting from the toner step. The Hayejin oil toner turned out to be a perfect match for my very dry skin! It doesn't leave an oily residue, which suits me perfectly. Despite being an oil toner, it doesn't feel slippery or cause my makeup to pill. It feels like it forms a protective layer on my skin, which I'm thoroughly satisfied with. My skin texture has noticeably improved, allowing my makeup to apply more smoothly.
ConsThe formula is so watery that you need to apply it by patting it on with a cotton pad. I usually prefer toners that absorb directly into the skin without using cotton pads, but this product seems to require one. More than half of it ends up spilling on the floor! While I got to use this as part of The Hwahae Testers program, I find it too expensive for its volume to purchase on my own. I think it's better to use other cost-effective products, so I wouldn't spend my own money on this.
TipWhen you apply the toner with a cotton pad to refine your skin texture, and then pat on an additional layer with your hands, your skin feels smooth and deeply hydrated!

First, let me describe the texture. It's like a mix of oil and toner, so if you don't shake it, it separates into layers as shown in the photo. Make sure to shake it well before use. There's a slight rice water scent, but it's not strong and doesn't bother me at all. The texture is fluid, not sticky, and flows like water. I found it convenient to put it in an empty mist bottle for easy application. You can pat it in or use the 7-skin method. Due to the oil content, it leaves a slight glow-like finish. It doesn't feel heavy like some oils, and the overall feel is quite light. After using it for about a week, my skin looked brighter.
ConsAt first, I found the runny texture difficult to use, but putting it in a mist bottle helped. Be careful not to get it in your eyes as it can sting a bit. It's lighter than expected for a complete skincare routine, so if you have dry skin, you'll definitely need to follow up with a cream or serum.
TipI applied it by spraying from the mist bottle. I used it about three times - once with the 7-skin method, once patting it in, and finishing with another round of patting. It gives a glow that makes your skin texture look good, and despite being an oil, it's light enough that even combination skin types could use it in winter. I think it's made my complexion brighter.

I've used it for about a week, not the full two weeks. First, it's unique that you need to shake it before use, as it's an oil toner containing rice ingredients. Previously, most face oils felt heavy on my skin, but this one feels fresh and relatively light compared to other face oil products. The texture is fluid even after shaking, and while it doesn't feel oily, it's moisturizing and reminds you it's indeed an oil with great hydrating power. As soon as you apply it, you can't help but say, 'Oh, it's so moisturizing!' The texture is subtle, so I tried applying it with a cotton pad after my exfoliating toner, and then patted it in with my hands. I'd recommend not using a cotton pad, as it might have some particles that make it unsuitable as an exfoliating toner. Highly recommended for those with dry skin looking for a moisturizing oil toner. Also great for slightly oily skin types who don't usually get along with face oils, and even combination dehydrated skin.
ConsThe bottle opening seems to drip slightly. I didn't notice when using it with a cotton pad, but when I tried to absorb it with my hands, it drips a bit at the opening. It's a standard opening, but I'm not sure if it's related to the product's formulation. While it's not a major inconvenience, it is somewhat bothersome. Even when I try to be careful, it doesn't dispense cleanly and tends to stick around the opening. I'm not sure if it's due to my wrist movement or the product itself.
TipGiven its price, I wouldn't use it as a cleansing product. Instead, after cleansing, I use a gentle toner to wipe along my skin texture, then shake this product and pat it in for absorption. Sometimes, when my skin feels very dry, I mix a few drops with my cream. I recommend mixing it with cream and patting it in again on particularly dry areas for extra hydration.
