  Skin Type: My T-zone is extremely oily, while my U-zone is slightly dry. However, as the day progresses, my skin tends to produce more oil. Recently, I've been experiencing a lot of dead skin cells and small bumps on my skin! Texture: The texture is similar to the typical cleansing balm you might be familiar with! Scent: It has a scent reminiscent of soap mixed with vitamin C! Hydration: Compared to cleansing oils, I felt my skin was slightly more hydrated after the second cleanse! Blemishes: Some cleansing products can actually cause blemishes if they don't suit my skin. With this one, the existing small bumps didn't disappear, but no new ones appeared either!

  While it seems more hygienic than scooping out product from a jar, it's disappointing that you can't see how much product is left.

  Pros

  Although it's a balm type, it becomes oily the moment you apply it. True to its Vita Balm nature, it's packed with a lemon scent. The fragrance is strong but likely to be universally appealing. Usually, I remove makeup with oil first, then use foam cleanser twice. This made traveling and camping quite inconvenient. I'd worry about spillage when carrying products around! With this, there's no concern about spills, and no need to carry both oil and foam cleansers. It's incredibly simple and removes makeup thoroughly - I love it!

  Cons

  There's not really anything to complain about, but if I had to nitpick, when you twist to dispense the balm, it leaves a bit of residue on the container. Also, while it's fine for me as I have dry skin, I'm not sure how people who avoid oily products might feel about it!

  Tip

  A small amount is enough to remove all makeup, so it seems like it will last longer than expected. I'd give it top marks for not requiring multiple cleansing steps and being easy to carry around! In the photo, you can see some glitter and eyebrow makeup. I applied it too heavily trying to make it dark, which is why my skin looks a bit red. It's not leftover makeup residue! This cleanser removes everything thoroughly and effortlessly!

  The pros and cons of the grinding case are quite clear. While pump types can be tricky to control and often drip, and balm-type products come with a spoon that I end up not using, this product allows for easy control of the amount and doesn't drip, which I really liked. The texture melts smoothly into an oil, and a small amount is enough to roll over the entire face. The scent was a bit off-putting at first, but as I used it, I found it wasn't too artificial and I got used to it. It's gentle, causing no eye irritation or stinging when emulsified. After emulsifying with water and rinsing, it doesn't leave a lingering slippery feeling - at some point, you can feel the oiliness being cleaned away. While I did follow up with a foam cleanser, I think this product has decent cleansing power on its own. Being a vitamin product, I expect it might help brighten the complexion with consistent use.

  Pros

  I usually only wear sunscreen and foundation on a daily basis. While I'm not sure about point makeup, it removes foundation quite well. This was my first time using a cleansing balm after only using oil for my first cleanse. The grinding format made it very convenient to scoop out just the right amount for my face. It rolls on surprisingly well too. The scent reminds me of powdered lemonade...? It didn't bother me much, but I think it could be polarizing for some people.

  I used to use oil for sebum control, but this doesn't seem as effective for managing sebum compared to oil.

While using this product, I didn't experience any problematic breakouts. The fragrance was pleasant without being overwhelming - a subtle, refreshing citrus scent that wasn't too strong or harsh. The cleansing balm seemed to remove sunscreen effectively, and for heavier makeup, I took extra care to massage it in thoroughly. In both cases, I followed up with a foaming cleanser for double cleansing. I absolutely loved the grinding mechanism. Unlike previous products that either lacked a spatula or exposed the entire surface upon opening (raising hygiene concerns), this cleansing balm from Preveats feels more sanitary. You simply twist the container to dispense just the right amount. The product melts easily with minimal warmth, transforming into a silky oil texture when applied to the face, gliding on smoothly and quickly.

  Cons

  While the soft texture is great on the face, it can be a bit tricky when dispensing from the container. The slippery, soft consistency makes it difficult to get out cleanly, often resulting in a messy container. I think a slightly firmer texture would have made for a neater application. When rinsing off the product after massaging it into the face, I felt like there was a lingering slickness or oiliness that didn't wash away completely. A fresher, lighter formula might have been preferable.

  Scent: There wasn't much description about the fragrance, but it has a petroleum or waxy smell. I guess this means they didn't use artificial fragrances, but I really dislike the smell every time I use it. Texture: This was my first time using a cleansing balm, so I can't compare it to other products, but it felt like hair wax to me. Application: I scoop some out, rub it between my hands to melt it a bit, then apply it to my face. If you don't use enough, it feels dry, so you need to use a generous amount for it to glide smoothly. Cleansing effectiveness: I usually wear a mix of sunscreen and a bit of foundation, along with eyebrow makeup and lip tint. So I'm not sure how well it removes heavy makeup. It does leave some residue on the lips. If you massage well, you can feel it removing sebum too.
