This is a review from one of The Hwahae Testers. I used the product from July 1st to July 4th. The texture is that of a regenerating cream, and it absorbs well! I usually find foundation too heavy on my face, so I was excited to try this BB cream when I was selected as a tester. It has an incredibly hydrating formula, so I wouldn't recommend it for those who dislike a dewy finish. However, I absolutely loved it. Despite having super sensitive skin, I didn't experience any blemishes. As I have a fair complexion, I didn't notice a significant brightening effect. When I first opened it, the fragrance was overwhelmingly strong. I think this aspect needs improvement! While it may vary from person to person, I feel the scent is too intense for a cosmetic product, which is disappointing. Perfect for a natural, no-makeup makeup look! - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 2, 2024
- I used it about three times before stopping. This is the first time I've discontinued a product while being part of The Hwahae Testers. - With skin tone 22-23, it matched my complexion naturally. It was like applying a brightening moisturizer. It evened out my skin texture nicely. - Perhaps because my skin is usually quite dry, I didn't achieve the glowing skin that others mentioned in their reviews. For me, the finish was what I'd describe as semi-matte. I was satisfied with this finish as it's suitable for summer. - Overall, I have no intention of purchasing this with my own money. I'll mention who I might recommend this to in the tips section below. - It has an artificial rose scent. While I generally dislike fragranced products, this felt like the strongest I've experienced recently. When I first applied it, the scent was so intense it gave me a headache and made me dizzy. When I got in the car wearing it, the scent seemed even stronger in the enclosed space, causing motion sickness. After that, I gave up on using it again. - It doesn't have sun protection. Normally, I don't mind if a product lacks SPF as I can apply sunscreen separately, but I did miss having it built-in. However, if it did include sun protection, it couldn't claim to be 'safe to sleep in'. - It's expensive Considering it doesn't offer sun protection, doesn't provide high coverage, doesn't give my skin a glow, has an overpowering scent, and comes with a high price tag, I wouldn't consider purchasing it. *Recommended for* - Those who don't mind strong fragrances - Those curious to try a product they haven't used before - For late night or weekend scenarios when a crush or new boyfriend unexpectedly shows up at your door Ideal for those wanting a product that evens out skin tone and texture while still allowing some blemishes to show through, perfect for that 'Oh my, I'm bare-faced, how embarrassing~' moment - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 29, 2024
The application is so smooth, it glides on effortlessly even with a quick swipe! I've been dealing with dead skin cells lately, but this product's moisturizing effect helps it apply evenly without emphasizing flaky patches. At first, I thought it might lack coverage since it's a regenerating BB cream, but surprisingly, it provides decent coverage. It even improves the appearance of my skin texture. I was initially worried it might not suit my skin as it's a regenerating product, but I'm glad I didn't have to be concerned. The best part? Unlike some makeup that makes my face itchy, this one doesn't cause any irritation at all. As you can see in the photo, the coverage is pretty good after application. There's a slight rose-like scent, which I found unpleasant as I'm sensitive to smells. The lingering rose fragrance on my face was bothersome. Having used only unscented products before, it was hard to adjust to this. I've recently started using BB creams more often after rarely wearing makeup, and I've noticed a few blemishes popping up. However, I'm not sure if it's due to the BB cream or just because I've been tired lately! There's a slight rose-like scent, which I found unpleasant as I'm sensitive to smells. Texture: It has a thin consistency, feeling like a cross between a jelly and a cream. Application: As a BB cream with high hydration, it spreads easily and evenly, allowing for uniform coverage. It's moisturizing enough not to flake on dry skin. Color: The shade is neither too light nor too dark, making it look natural on the skin. Feel on skin: Unlike other BB creams that can feel heavy on the skin over time, the Royal BB Cream feels just like skincare - you won't even notice you're wearing it! Scent: It has a strong, distinctive cosmetic fragrance. It smells like old-fashioned makeup your mother might have used. Brightening effect: It's not very brightening, so it only provides minimal correction for uneven skin tone. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2024
Advantages: - Exceptional hydration compared to similar products - Decent coverage - sufficient for a complete base makeup if you don't have many blemishes - Smooth, easily spreadable texture that glides on well with fingers - Doesn't feel heavy even with multiple layers Areas for improvement: - The rose-like scent is quite strong and artificial, lingering longer than expected. This might be polarizing depending on age group - The shade leans slightly dark, potentially appearing a bit dull on lighter skin tones (19-20 in Korean shades) Perfect for quick errands or gym sessions when you want to avoid a bare face. Would pair well with a concealer for enhanced results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2024
The shade is slightly darker than my natural complexion, which allows for a more natural-looking makeup application. First off, this product has an overwhelmingly strong scent that reminds me of old-fashioned cosmetics. Based on the fragrance alone, I can't imagine the ingredients are of high quality. I'll struggle to use this consistently due to the smell. Additionally, it's disappointing that it lacks sun protection. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 24, 2024
I was selected as one of The Hwahae Testers, so I'm leaving a review. I have sensitive, dry, and blemish-prone skin! I was already using Cell Fusion C BB cream, but I was looking for a BB cream that was less irritating, lightweight, and wouldn't oxidize. That's when I saw Alexander Kim's Co BB cream on the event page and was thrilled to see it again after so long! I used this product about 10 years ago when I was going to an esthetic salon. They introduced it as a regenerating BB cream, which was fascinating. I had forgotten about it, but back then I was younger and preferred products with more noticeable coverage. Now, 10 years later, using this product again, I find it wonderfully natural while evening out my complexion. It's so lightweight, which I actually prefer now! The texture is viscous but not sticky, and it applies very lightly, almost like water! It's perfect for those who want more than a bare face after sunscreen but don't want heavy makeup, or for those with blemish-prone skin who need a gentle, daily BB cream. I don't have many complaints, but if I had to mention something, it would be the scent. There's a very strong artificial rose fragrance that might be uncomfortable for those sensitive to smells. Also, don't expect much in terms of coverage... The focus seems to be more on being gentle and regenerative rather than providing coverage! Applying it with a spatula can prevent patchy application and allows for thin, even layers, resulting in a more natural skin appearance! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 24, 2024
Note: The photo was taken 10 hours after application, with no touch-ups! I usually wear a brightening moisturizer with SPF to work, but I was considering trying something with more coverage. That's when the Alexander Kim's Co Royal BB Cream caught my eye! The description made it sound like it could be smoothly applied like an emulsion, perfect for my daily work routine. Plus, since I'm often too lazy to wash my face before bed (haha), a BB cream I could sleep in? This seemed made for me! At first application, I was a bit surprised. I expected it to be as fluid as an emulsion, but it was more like a typical BB cream. However, it was quite moisturizing - even with minimal skincare prep, it adhered perfectly without any patchiness. I was worried about the grayish cast typical of BB creams, but there was absolutely none! The color was similar to a foundation. BB creams have really improved! The color is a bit on the darker side though. I'm usually a light 21 shade, and while it matched well initially, it seemed to darken slightly over time. I'd say it's between a 22 and a light 23 shade. As someone with extremely oily skin, I usually get greasy very quickly. But with this, I stayed matte without feeling dry - amazing! The only downside was the very artificial fragrance, which was disappointing. Oh, and the coverage is medium. <Pros> 1. Applies smoothly - moisturizing without being too oily! 2. Wears beautifully throughout the day! 3. Didn't cause any blemishes even when I slept with it on! <Cons> 1. Slight darkening effect and the shade itself is a bit dark! 2. The fragrance is artificial. As mentioned above, the shade is a bit dark! There's some darkening over time! (Though I liked that it didn't have the typical grayish cast of BB creams) And it has an artificial scent. That typical artificial BB cream smell... It seemed to linger for about 30 minutes after application. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 22, 2024
>Absorption It applies smoothly and moisturizes well even when spread with hands. Using a spatula to apply and then patting with a sponge allows for quick application. >Hydration I used it as a cream substitute after applying toner and ampoule. It seems sufficient as a cream replacement during summer. >Complexion improvement It naturally evens out the skin tone. Applying BB cream followed by this brightening moisturizer noticeably brightens the face. However, the effect doesn't last long. By the end of the workday, my complexion appears to have darkened. As I have super sensitive skin, I experienced blemishes in certain areas, possibly due to incompatible ingredients. The fragrance is strong with an artificial floral scent that lingers all day when wearing this BB cream. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 21, 2024
Perfect for those who use shade 23 and want a natural, effortless look. It doesn't pill when applying sunscreen over it. The texture looks watery but feels more like a cream when applied, making it great as a lightweight base. I find the tone, application, and amount ideal for use on my neck. The scent is reminiscent of artificial chemicals, similar to Madecassol ointment. It can look patchy if you don't properly hydrate your skin beforehand. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I developed two blemishes after using this product.
