As someone who doesn't wear makeup often, I use this BB cream like a primer when I do. The texture is a bit thick, but it applies smoothly and evenly. My skin tone is between 21 and 23, and this cream naturally brightens my complexion by about one shade without looking unnatural, which I love. It has a strong floral scent, reminiscent of acacia. I have combination dehydrated skin that tends to get oily in summer, but this BB cream's high hydration and nourishing properties seem to balance it out, though my face does get a bit dewy over time. You need to apply sunscreen separately, which might feel heavy on the skin in summer. It doesn't have enough coverage to conceal large pores, so it's better suited for those with already good skin who just want to even out their skin tone. The price point is also a bit high, which is disappointing. If you tend to sweat a lot, try blotting your face with oil-absorbing sheets after applying the BB cream. This seems to help maintain a matte finish for longer. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJul 5, 2024
I loved how it felt like skincare! It wasn't too thick or drying, making it comfortable to wear for long periods. If you use the light shade 21, it gives a natural look rather than a bright effect. I actually preferred that aspect - I don't like anything too artificial, and this looks so natural! It's easy to apply with fingers, blends smoothly, and goes on thin, which made me feel great about using it. I suppose the price might be the only drawback? But honestly, I didn't experience any discomfort while using it! Even though this BB cream has a strong skincare feel, it's still important to maintain a solid skincare routine underneath. Taking the time to apply your base products well, even when you're busy, will ensure a more comfortable day ahead. Let's make sure we apply our products properly! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJul 5, 2024
1. Absorbs beautifully - The creamy texture is neither too heavy nor too runny, making it easy to apply 2. A little goes a long way - As a first-time user, I squeezed out too much, but you don't need that much 1. The price is a bit wicked - Even with discounts, it feels quite expensive, making it hard to justify the purchase 2. Lack of sun protection is a bit disappointing - Unlike other BB creams that often include SPF, this one doesn't. You'll need to apply sunscreen separately, which might feel heavy in summer 3. A BB cream you can wear to bed? - They claim you can wear it while sleeping, but I was surprised by how much it transferred. While the product warning mentions this, I'm not sure why you'd want to wear BB cream to bed anyway 4. The fragrance is hit or miss Tip: Be aware of potentially irritating ingredients! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJul 5, 2024
A BB cream you can sleep in? I was so curious about this unique product I'd never tried before! Application: It glides on smoothly without any special technique needed. It feels more like a moisturizer than makeup, making it super easy to apply. After application, there's a subtle glow thanks to its hydrating properties, which I really enjoyed. Experience: Since I have quite a bit to cover on my skin, I didn't expect perfect coverage from this type of cream. However, I was really satisfied using it for quick errands, light outings, or as a 'bare face' cream. Sometimes when I go out completely bare-faced, I feel self-conscious when I catch my reflection, thinking my skin looks worse than at home. But with this on, my large pores were somewhat concealed and my overall complexion looked more even, which I loved. While it didn't necessarily brighten my skin, that actually worked in its favor, creating a truly natural 'bare skin' look that just made my complexion appear healthier. I've always been concerned about my large pores, but this cream naturally filled them in, making me feel more confident when I look in the mirror! This product would be perfect for those times when you want to look naturally bare-faced on vacation but lack confidence in your skin. The fact that you can sleep with it on is an added bonus! However, it doesn't provide much brightening, so if you're looking for a product to make your skin look radiant, this might not be for you. As someone concerned about pores and uneven pigmentation, I found myself reaching for this when I wanted something between bare skin and full makeup. It conceals just enough to make me feel comfortable. Drawbacks: As mentioned earlier, it doesn't brighten or add radiance to the skin. Also, if you're expecting coverage like a typical BB cream, you'll be disappointed. It's great for achieving a natural, bare-faced look, but if you're after a brightening effect, this product won't suit your needs. Surprisingly, it looks even more natural than a brightening moisturizer! The way it subtly covers pores makes it perfect for faking a bare-faced look. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJul 3, 2024
As someone with dry skin lacking both oil and moisture, I tend to be on the drier side except in midsummer. This often leads to makeup clumping or cracking, so I usually just apply a brightening moisturizer. However, trying this BB cream was a pleasant surprise - it's hydrating and natural-looking! I highly recommend it for those with dry skin who want a subtle corrective effect! Application & Texture: It applies incredibly smoothly. Usually, even when I apply makeup thinly, it can feel heavy or clog my pores slightly, but this wasn't the case here. It spreads thinly and smoothly - even those less skilled at makeup application should have no trouble with it. Hydration: As someone with dry skin, I've tried many hydrating formulas! I've found that the right balance of hydration and oil is crucial for long-lasting moisture. This BB cream seems to have struck that perfect balance. It stays hydrating for a long time without feeling greasy. Color: I think a common drawback of BB creams is the grayish cast that develops over time, supposedly to cover redness. That's actually why I switched to foundation. In this regard, I appreciated that this BB cream doesn't develop a gray cast and absorbs naturally into the skin. Healing: Coincidentally, I got a facial injury right when I became a Hwahae Tester. It was a scratch from a baby's nail - those familiar know these can last quite a while. I applied a thicker layer to the red, scratched area to cover the wound. Thankfully, it didn't sting, and the scratch disappeared after about three days. Since it was a wound, I was worried about applying makeup, but knowing this BB cream has regenerative effects, I could apply it without concern! The biggest disappointment was the lack of sun protection. These days, most products include it, so I applied it without thinking and realized it didn't have any SPF. Having to apply sunscreen and BB cream separately was inconvenient, as it meant applying two layers. The color is slightly on the darker side. I have a very fair complexion that usually matches shade 17, so the tone was a bit off when I first applied it. However, it was fine once it spread thinly and absorbed over time. After application, there was quite a bit of residual oil left on my hands. It's essential to wash your hands after use, otherwise you'll leave fingerprints everywhere! You could easily tell where I'd touched things! Rather than dotting it on, try applying it with your index, middle, and ring fingers after spreading it widely on your hand. This allows for a thinner, more natural application! The excellent absorption was particularly great for applying very thinly to areas like around the eyes and nose wings. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 2, 2024
I have combination skin that's prone to blemishes and redness. Fragrance: Unlike the BB creams I've used before with little to no scent, this one has a strong rose-like fragrance right from the start. It lingered for hours after application. While fragrance preference is personal, I enjoyed this one. Application and Texture: It applies smoothly with a medium consistency - not too thick or thin. It feels very hydrating, almost like applying a moisturizer. Coverage: Being a gentle product, the coverage isn't particularly high. It gives a natural tone correction, making your skin look naturally good. It's perfect for a 'no-makeup' makeup look. It helps brighten dull, lifeless skin and seems to soothe areas with blemishes. The high moisture content gives a dewy glow and keeps skin hydrated. Longevity: The staying power isn't very long. It tends to fade noticeably after a while. I've read it's effective after peels, exfoliation, or skin treatments. As someone in their early 20s with sensitive skin due to acne treatments and peels, which left me with redness, I wish I had known about this BB cream earlier. It seems to help with redness too. I'm glad to have discovered such a great cosmetic product! The downside is the price. I was shocked at how expensive it is when I looked it up. Also, it doesn't have sun protection, so you need to apply sunscreen separately. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJun 30, 2024
It's incredibly hydrating! I think it'll be perfect for winter use. While I have combination skin, it might be a bit much for summer. When applied over regular sunscreen, it can make your skin look a bit too shiny. However, it pairs wonderfully with Innisfree's mineral sunscreen, which can be quite thick and drying. I'm saving some to use in winter when I think it'll be even better. It absorbs beautifully and feels so gentle on the skin! For my combination skin, it's a bit heavy for summer use. If your skin tone is lighter than shade 20, it might appear a bit dark on you. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2024
As a member of The Hwahae Testers, I'm sharing my subjective review after using this product (expiration date 24.06.21 - 24.06.28). I have combination skin with severe redness and large pores, especially in the T-zone. Application: The texture is easy to apply, even for those who aren't makeup experts! It's not too thick, so it spreads smoothly. I used both my hands and a puff, but fingers work just fine! Hydration: Unlike many matte-finish products, this one is very moisturizing! It would be perfect for winter use. As it absorbs into the skin over time, some may love or hate this feature, but I recommend it for those seeking a hydrating BB cream. Glow: The moisturizing effect gives your skin a natural glow, which becomes more noticeable over time. Coverage: It covers light blemishes, which might disappoint those who prefer full coverage. However, I personally don't favor heavy coverage, so I found it satisfactory - similar to a moisturizing cushion foundation. Since I have severe redness, I still use concealer for those areas. Color: Unlike the typical grayish BB cream tone, this has a slight reddish tint. It addresses one of the main complaints people have about BB creams - that ashy undertone. When I use BB cream alone, it tends to sink into my pores over time, making them more noticeable. I wouldn't recommend this for those who prefer a brighter makeup look. As someone who likes to go much brighter than my natural skin tone, I found the color too natural-looking. I deducted one star for the price. Perhaps because BB creams are typically associated with being affordable, this one feels a bit expensive. I tried mixing it 1:1 with a semi-matte foundation, and it was a great combination that turned their weaknesses into strengths! It made my usually matte foundation apply more smoothly, while the foundation's lighter shade brightened up the BB cream's natural tone. This allowed for a more radiant makeup look. Highly recommended! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2024
It has a gentle feel and feels like a nourishing cream. The absorption is also good. It would be great to use as coverage when visiting the dermatologist. The color might be hit or miss for some people as it's a bit dark, but I found it works well when mixed with a brightening moisturizer. Also, when applied on its own, you won't need to do too much cleansing! However, it's a bit oily. If you have oily skin, you'll definitely need to use a matte finish or powder with it. The coverage isn't exceptional - think of it more as a BB cream for dermatologist visits. It's that gentle and natural-looking. One downside is that it's a bit dark, which might cause darkening. There's no sun protection, so you'll need to apply sunscreen with it! It doesn't have sun protection and it's a bit dark, so I apply it together with a brightening moisturizer with SPF. Use it when you're visiting the dermatologist! - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2024
Texture: It has a thin consistency, feeling like a cross between a jelly and a cream. Application: As a BB cream with high hydration, it spreads easily and evenly, allowing for uniform coverage. It's moisturizing enough not to flake on dry skin. Color: The shade is neither too light nor too dark, making it look natural on the skin. Feel on skin: Unlike other BB creams that can feel heavy on the skin over time, the Royal BB Cream feels just like skincare - you won't even notice you're wearing it! Scent: It has a strong, distinctive cosmetic fragrance. It smells like old-fashioned makeup your mother might have used. Brightening effect: It's not very brightening, so it only provides minimal correction for uneven skin tone.
