The BHA ingredient was great for managing sebum and dead skin cells, so I used it with satisfaction! While it produces less foam than cleansing foams, its rich, dense lather was excellent for cleansing. My previous cleansing foam left my skin feeling a bit dry, but this cleansing gel caused less dryness and left my skin feeling smooth and silky. The foam isn't very abundant, so it seems better suited as a second-step cleanser. On days when I wear light makeup, this cleanser alone seems sufficient. The rich lather made me feel like it was cleansing even more effectively. Texture It has a translucent liquid texture with an orange tint. The consistency is just right - neither too thin nor too thick. I'm used to seeing white, creamy textures in cleansers, so this was a bit unfamiliar! I usually associate this type of texture with skincare products. I like that this thinner consistency adheres well to the skin, allowing for gentle yet effective cleansing without irritation. User experience I have dry skin, and there was hardly any tightness after use, which I loved! While the product characteristics might suit oily skin types better, I think it's perfectly fine for dry or sensitive skin too. Scent This was the most disappointing aspect for me. The scent really wasn't to my liking. It had a peculiar smell that was almost unscented, but not quite... It allows for a gentle cleanse without irritating your skin. Fragrance-Free Formula Fragrances are often the enemy of acne-prone skin. Since they can trigger allergic reactions, the absence of fragrance is my top priority when choosing acne-fighting products. While you won't get that aromatic cleansing experience, you can use this product with peace of mind! Hydrating After-Cleanse Feel In my opinion, the biggest advantage of gel cleansers is how they leave your skin feeling moisturized even after washing. I loved how it didn't leave my dry skin feeling tight or stripped. Ideal for Light Cleansing This is more of a psychological thing, but when I want a deep cleanse, I prefer to double cleanse with an oil cleanser first. The product contains an impressive 5000ppm of BHA, making it great for managing oiliness, sebum, and dead skin cells! The gel formula is lightweight with minimal stickiness. Unlike other exfoliating products that often leave skin feeling dry, this one doesn't cause any tightness and keeps the skin hydrated. It's also gentle, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin. With consistent use, you'll notice a reduction in blackheads and whiteheads, and an improvement in skin texture. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to manage their pores and sebum! One drawback is that on days when you wear color makeup or a full face, you'll need to follow up with a second cleanse after using this product. (To be honest, on days when I wear makeup or sunscreen, I do a second cleanse anyway, so I just need the gel cleanser to do its basic job.) As someone who's been using foam cleansers since elementary school and has tried various types - foam, milk, balm, oil, and scrub - from different brands (like Manyo Factory, Whipped, Senka, C2Y, ATOMY, Happy Bath, etc.), I can say that the HYCL gel cleanser hits all the right notes. First, it didn't cause any irritation or blemishes. Second, it left my skin feeling clean without any tightness. (Though it didn't leave my skin feeling as soft and refined as Manyo Factory's cleanser. It just felt clean and smooth.) Lastly, its cleansing power was perfectly adequate for a first-step cleanser. I wasn't expecting it to dissolve blackheads or completely remove sebum, but it left my skin feeling thoroughly cleansed. In short, it's a well-rounded product! Room for improvement: This isn't really a negative, but it's worth noting: While the base scent is close to unscented, when you're massaging it on your face, you might notice a slight chemical smell. This is probably because it's so close to your nose. Just keep in mind that it's not a pleasant soapy scent. Tip: This was my first time using a gel cleanser. My skin is quite challenging - I deal with blemishes, enlarged pores, sensitivity, and redness. It's a real combo of issues! As someone with super sensitive skin, I can't skip exfoliation because it leads to clogged pores. But I'm always hesitant to try just any scrub or exfoliator. That's why I was pleasantly surprised by this cleanser. It contains BHA, which seems to gently exfoliate while cleansing. The foam lathers up nicely, and after rinsing, my skin feels incredibly soft.
