Unlike heavy formulas that often cause blemishes, this green-cased cleansing oil from the Shu Uemura line is lightweight, effectively removes makeup without causing any skin issues. I've been using it with great results. It's excellent at removing mascara and shimmery eyeshadows. I also appreciate that it doesn't have an overpowering oily scent that's typical of some cleansing oils. The price is a bit steep... The large bottle costs over $100, so I've been sticking to the smaller size. Even that's in the $60-70 range, which is still quite pricey. It's slightly less effective at removing blackheads and sebum compared to other oils. When I do the rolling method, I don't feel as much sebum coming out as with other products. However, it still leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed, which is why I continue to use it. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinNov 10, 2020
Maintains moisture and softness after cleansing. The scent is pleasant too. If you apply a generous amount to areas prone to acne (without wiping off), and remove it after a while, the inflamed areas calm down quickly. It's been my holy grail product since 2003. It effectively removes dead skin cells, leaving skin smooth. If used too frequently or rubbed for too long, it can cause skin peeling and a tingling sensation. It's best to use it at appropriate intervals (every 2-3 days if you wear makeup often, once a week if you don't). Those with thin skin should be cautious. Using it with cleansing oil and water enhances the moisturizing and soft effect after cleansing, increasing satisfaction (though the price is a bit steep). It's best to quickly figure out your own usage pattern. Don't rub it for too long! Your skin will thank you. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJul 10, 2020
It removes makeup well and has a gentle scent! I'm considering repurchasing. First off, the volume is small for the price. I bought it duty-free, but I'm thinking it wasn't really worth it. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 9, 2020
I bought this last year at duty-free because it was popular. It's the second cleansing oil I've tried. Blackheads: - It shows excellent results in removing sebum and blackheads compared to other oils. Scent: - The fragrance isn't off-putting! While opinions might vary, it has a fresh, natural scent that's easily accessible for anyone to use. Ingredients: - They're really not good... I don't want to spend this much money on something with poor ingredients that might irritate my face. Cleansing effectiveness: - I'm not sure if it's good! I don't wear heavy makeup, just eyeshadow at most, but it doesn't even remove my light base makeup well... Price: - It's too expensive! There's no reason to buy it unless it's on sale at duty-free. Skin tightness: - The deep dryness after cleansing is severe! It feels like it's stripping all the moisture from my skin. It works well for removing sebum and blackheads if you pump a small amount onto your hands and gently massage it in. Those with super sensitive skin should be cautious as it may cause irritation! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinDec 2, 2019
The fragrance is pleasant, it has a nice slip, and it's easily removed with water, making it convenient to use I can't find any faults yet. I'm at a loss for words when asked to write more - Hwahae UserDry SkinMay 19, 2019
It cleanses thoroughly and has a lovely scent. Highly recommended for those with dry skin. It's on the pricier side, and the emulsification process is more cumbersome than expected. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 5, 2019
Lovely fragrance Excellent cleansing effectiveness (with a soothing effect) Great fluidity (I like it a bit sticky) Slightly pricier than most products Hardly any downsides for me Small particles may appear when massaging over the entire face - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinApr 7, 2019
It removes makeup quickly and effectively. The scent is pleasant and it gently cleanses the skin. There's no residue or irritation - it just works well. I use this to remove my makeup, then follow up with a simple face wash, finish with an exfoliating toner, and apply Milkin A cream. This routine leaves my skin feeling incredibly fresh. The price is a bit on the higher side, which is somewhat disappointing. It's a shame it's so expensive... - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinMar 20, 2019
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. I don't usually use cleansing oils. A few years ago, when cleansing oils were trendy, I bought one and ended up with terrible blemishes on my face. Recently, I received coconut oil as a gift and used it for cleansing. Then I won this product and started using it. Compared to natural coconut oil, it's less slippery, making it more comfortable to use. The scent isn't overpowering, so it feels pleasant to apply. After using this product for makeup removal followed by a cleansing foam, I found the cleansing effectiveness to be noticeably better than coconut oil. It leaves no residue, giving a refreshing feeling that I really appreciate. First off, the price is a bit wicked... For this amount, I'd rather stick with coconut oil. While it's less sticky, which is a plus, you seem to need to apply more of it. Compared to coconut oil, it contains more potentially harmful ingredients, which concerns me. Also, I don't really feel any significant advantages... Honestly, I'm using it because it was given to me, but I wouldn't spend my own money on it. Rather than a tip, I'd say it's crucial to thoroughly rinse off oil-based cleansing products. I can't say it's specifically because of this product, but on days when I didn't cleanse as thoroughly, I noticed blemishes that don't usually appear. Make sure to rinse well! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 19, 2019
The cleansing effectiveness is really great! Personally, I didn't mind the scent either. I was feeling good about how well it cleansed, but then parts of my face turned red. My whole face became bumpy, and my skin looked like it was popping out, resembling a cobblestone bread. I even got small blemishes with tiny white inflammations all over. Looking at the ingredients on Hwahae, I noticed there were some potential allergens. I think that might be the reason. Another downside is that it's extremely expensive... For those without allergies, this would be excellent for removing excess oil due to its great cleansing power!
