One of the few cleansing oils I've used where I could actually see blackheads being removed I never realized how super sensitive my skin was until I used this. 2-3 days after using it, I was diagnosed with contact dermatitis. My face erupted in a storm of blemishes and redness. Even though I bought the large size, I had to throw it away immediately. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinDec 17, 2020
Easily removes blackheads and whiteheads. Great cleansing effectiveness. Out of 10 facial products I use, 9 usually cause contact dermatitis, but this one doesn't seem to immediately irritate my skin. When used daily, it feels like it might cause some blemishes to appear. I only use it when I need to manage blackheads. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMay 18, 2020
It did a decent job of removing excess oil, and my skin felt less dry after use. After using it, I developed small blemishes, and it didn't completely remove excess oil. I don't feel inclined to spend this much money on it again. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 17, 2020
As someone with super sensitive skin, I think this review could be helpful for those struggling with itching, small bumps, or worsening acne when using incompatible products. It might also benefit those with sensitive, allergy-prone skin, or contact dermatitis. Regarding functionality, this cleansing oil does its job well. It effectively removes makeup, including eyeliner, eyebrow products, and lipstick, without any issues. The user experience is great too. It feels gentle on the skin with minimal irritation, leaving no burning sensation after use. Unlike some oils, it doesn't have that sticky, clumpy feeling. When rinsing with water, it emulsifies well without separating. Overall, it addresses many common drawbacks of oil cleansers, which is very satisfying. If you don't have skin like mine, you probably won't find any downsides to this product. Currently, my skin becomes itchy, swollen, and develops small bumps (not cystic acne) immediately if I apply anything that doesn't suit it. My skin has changed from being resilient and blemish-free to sensitive and allergy-prone. Even after thorough cleansing, this product leaves my skin itchy. Firstly, I think the oil itself doesn't agree with me. Secondly, I've had similar reactions to other Shu Uemura products and even body creams from other brands. Upon investigation, I found that these products contain limonene and linalool, which are known to cause allergies. These ingredients are likely causing my skin to become itchy and red. Unfortunately, these two ingredients are also present in this product. While I was very satisfied during use, the aftermath was problematic. The intense itching on my face had a reason after all. If you don't have sensitive, allergy-prone skin like mine, you'll likely be very satisfied with this product. It might not be suitable for those with atopic skin either, as the ingredients seem to be quite irritating. Although my skin reacted badly, I'm fortunate to have discovered the Hwahae app. Now I can avoid ingredients that don't suit me. It's crucial to check the ingredients and choose products that don't contain any components you're sensitive to. Once your skin becomes this sensitive, it takes a long time to recover, which can be really challenging. While this product doesn't work for my skin and has some concerning ingredients, it seems great for those with resilient skin. I'd rate it 0 for sensitive skin, but 5 for tougher skin types. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinApr 10, 2020
Helps with cleansing effectiveness and removing dead skin cells. After use, there's a temporary brightening effect that makes your face look radiant. This product didn't work for me. Considering the price, maybe that's a good thing(?). It seemed to irritate my skin, causing dryness and blemishes. When I went to a skincare clinic, they immediately asked if I was using oil. They advised against it, saying it could actually make my skin drier, so I passed it on to my sister. I think I'm just not compatible with oils in general, not just this product. I recommend that people like me, who might have similar reactions, research thoroughly before buying oil-based products, even if they're highly rated. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 11, 2020
I switched from cleansing water to this cleansing oil, and it seems to remove makeup really well Being an oil-based product, it seems to be causing some small blemishes to appear - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinDec 29, 2019
While searching for a cleansing oil, I heard about this famous product and bought the travel kit with 4 types at the duty-free shop. It included Ultimate Cleansing Oil, Anti/Oxi Cleansing Oil, PoreFinest Cleansing Oil, and Blanc:Chroma Cleansing Oil. I've tried two of them so far: the Anti/Oxi and the Blanc:Chroma. I bought Shu Uemura cleansing oil because I heard it was good, but it was absolutely terrible for me. It was the first time I've ever had an allergic reaction to a cosmetic product. At first, I couldn't believe it was the cause and tried to find other reasons, but after stopping use for a while and trying it again yesterday, my face broke out in an allergic reaction. The itching was unbearable. Not only my face, but my neck was affected too. My lips swelled up and my neck turned red. The itching wasn't just temporary - it lasted for quite a while and my skin condition became awful. While it might work well for some people, I'm posting this review for those who might suffer like I did. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinNov 27, 2019
I bought a set of three colors - purple, pink, and green - at the duty-free shop. But honestly, this product is really disappointing. The oil in the pink and purple containers was good for oily skin. However, after using this, the skin on my cheeks completely broke out, and even a month of dermatologist visits didn't help. I had a terrible outbreak of cystic acne on my cheeks. I didn't know why at first, but then I remembered the blemishes started appearing after using this product, so I stopped. It's been about two weeks since I stopped using it, and my skin is finally starting to calm down. Though some blemishes still remain. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinNov 4, 2019
The generous amount is a real plus. You definitely get your money's worth with the quantity provided. It seems to be a major blemish trigger... After using this, my face exploded with acne (I didn't even have acne as a teenager!). There's so much left, but I can't bring myself to throw it away... - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 24, 2019
It feels great when you first use it. Removes eye makeup effectively. Turns out this was the cause of my acne... I had to visit the dermatologist three times because of this product, even switching clinics. The doctor said it's a highly irritating cosmetic. Seems like it really doesn't suit some people's skin.
