I'm absolutely loving this product! It's a game-changer for removing even the most stubborn mascara. Just apply a bit of oil to a cotton pad, press it gently on your eyes for a few seconds, and voila - it wipes right off! The oil-based formula leaves my skin feeling wonderfully hydrated after cleansing. What's more, this cleanser is so effective at removing most makeup that on those lazy nights when I can't be bothered with double cleansing, I can get away with just using this. It still manages to cleanse thoroughly without any issues! There's not really anything to complain about, but if I had to nitpick, I'd say it's a bit pricey. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAug 26, 2020
The lightweight formula cleanses perfectly, leaving my skin feeling so refreshed. It's a product I use consistently. It even removes Kissmee mascara cleanly! I've heard that oil-based cleansers can sometimes make skin sensitive... so I alternate with a water-based cleanser occasionally. On days when my nose is particularly oily, I use it all over my face first, wipe with a towel, then gently massage just the nose area again with the oil. It's great for managing excess sebum. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 28, 2020
As someone with combination dehydrated skin and sensitive skin, I often break out with blemishes and tiny pimples immediately after using the wrong oils. However, with Shu Uemura's Anti/Oxi oil, I used an entire large bottle without a single breakout. It's really great! For a cleansing oil, it seems to cause minimal skin irritation. Plus, its cleansing effectiveness is truly impressive. It removes everything in one go - eyeliner, mascara, and even eyeshadow. It's so convenient not having to use a separate eye makeup remover. The only downside is the price... I managed to buy it duty-free. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMay 25, 2019
An oil that even super sensitive skin can use! I received a sample, tried it once, and immediately went to the store to purchase it. It removes Kiss Me mascara and eyeliner completely. I can't believe how convenient this is. The price, I suppose... It's a product you can only afford by taking advantage of duty-free opportunities. The department store price for a large size is just too much to handle. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 31, 2019
Since I use a lot of waterproof makeup, I inevitably end up using cleansing oil (cleansing wipes make my sensitive skin turn red instantly, and cleansing balms are tricky for eye makeup removal). I've tried the entire Shu Uemura cleansing oil line, and the anti-oxi line that exfoliates worked best for me. (The exfoliation isn't visibly noticeable, but when I stop using it, I see dead skin cells building up... That's when I realized it was working daily to keep them at bay.) The most disappointing aspect is undoubtedly the price. Even with duty-free shopping, it's still expensive. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 27, 2019
The oil has a pleasantly rich texture that feels like it's enveloping your face. I use waterproof pencil eyeliner, and this cleansing oil removes it perfectly with just a few gentle swipes, without any irritation. It's almost fragrance-free and feels neutral. When rinsed off with water, it doesn't leave a slippery residue but gives a clean, thorough cleanse. Of course, I still do a double cleanse, but not because of any oily residue. I've tried other products, but I haven't found anything as good as this one. I've been using it for over 5 years and I'm very satisfied. If there's one drawback, it's that the price is quite high. Other than that, it's fantastic. For clean, healthy skin, I find it's great to follow up the oil cleansing with an enzyme cleanser or foam cleanser for a second cleanse. This method is gentle on the skin and seems to work really well. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMar 19, 2019
I was lucky enough to try this product as part of The Hwahae Testers program! First off, I have super sensitive skin that easily flares up with redness if ingredients don't agree with me. So I was a bit worried when I saw some reviews mentioning concerns about the ingredients. Fortunately, it worked well for me! The positives: 1. Cleansing effectiveness I don't usually use a separate eye makeup remover, so I prefer gentle oils with good cleansing power. This one removed eye makeup thoroughly! It seemed to work well on blackheads too. Even with heavy eye makeup, it cleaned everything off nicely with some careful massaging. Great stuff! 2. No blemishes As I mentioned, my sensitive skin reacts quickly if a cleansing product doesn't suit me. But this one agreed with my skin perfectly! While I can't say my skin visibly improved, cleansing is crucial, so I think consistent use could help maintain skin health. 3. Variety of sizes The product I received for review was 50ml, I think. It's small enough to fit in a makeup pouch but still feels generously filled. Perfect for travel or business trips! The downsides, as expected... 1. The price It's Shu Uemura after all... Quality comes at a cost... I'm holding onto a tiny hope they might have a discount event someday. 2. The bottle opening could be improved Of course, I couldn't expect a pump dispenser for the smallest size, but it could still use some improvement! I tend to use a generous amount of oil for cleansing, and it was a bit frustrating when the product didn't come out easily. Even just improving the bottle opening would make a big difference! My personal tip: While massaging, I gently scrape (not too hard!) with my nails on areas where sebum tends to build up - nose, between eyebrows, and chin. This helped remove makeup thoroughly and softly cleared out blackheads and whiteheads! I usually do a nose pack every 1-2 weeks, but while using this product, I felt like I didn't need to. It seemed to clear out sebum effectively on its own! - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 18, 2019
Cleansing effectiveness - It was absolutely amazing! I use Clio eyeliner, and with other expensive oils, the eyeliner would smudge, so I always had to use an eye makeup remover even without mascara. But this product removes it completely without an eye makeup remover! It even cleanses Kiss Me mascara thoroughly! If there's any residue, just apply the oil again and emulsify it, and it comes off perfectly clean! Texture - I have extremely dry skin, and I used to think I needed to follow up with a cleansing foam after oil cleansing to remove any oily residue. Usually, right after patting dry with a towel, my skin would feel tight, and I'd have to quickly apply toner. But with this product, just using the oil alone cleanses thoroughly with no deep dryness at all. I can even take my time before applying toner! If you prioritize texture and cleansing effectiveness, get this ASAP! Lightweight - As someone with super dry skin, I always use oil for my first cleanse on makeup days. I used to think oils were heavy, but this product isn't heavy at all. It actually feels light. At first, I wondered how such a lightweight product could cleanse so effectively, but I was amazed to see it remove all my makeup with just one cleanse! It's truly light yet powerful! Blemishes - I didn't experience any blemishes. My skin is sensitive and usually reacts quickly to new products, but I didn't break out while using this. However, everyone's skin is different, so I recommend trying the small 50ml size first, and if it works well, then go for the larger one. Packaging - I used the 50ml size. The container is well-made, but the lid is stiff to open, and the small size doesn't have a pump - you have to shake it out, which was a bit inconvenient when cleansing. So I'm considering switching to the larger size when I finish this one! Ingredients - The ingredients list isn't particularly impressive. However, it didn't cause any blemishes for me, so I'm satisfied. But since everyone's skin is different, you should really think about this aspect before purchasing! I highly recommend this product, but if you trust Shu Uemura and don't mind the ingredients, go ahead and buy it. If you're very ingredient-conscious, you might want to think it over! Price - Yeah... it's quite pricey. That's why I'm considering using my duty-free shopping chance... - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 18, 2019
I got to try this as a Hwahae Tester winner! 1. As a cleansing oil, its cleansing effectiveness is top-notch. I have oily but super sensitive skin, so I prefer oils that remove makeup efficiently in one go. Some other cleansing oils emulsify well with regular makeup when rinsed with water, but struggle with mineral sunscreens, leaving a residue. However, the Shu Uemura oil emulsifies perfectly without any issues! 2. Effective at removing blackheads and whiteheads While the effects weren't dramatically visible due to the short usage period, my skin definitely became much smoother, with fewer bumps and texture! 3. Exfoliating effect During the oil rolling process, you can feel unnecessary dead skin cells being sloughed off. Without any additional exfoliation, I noticed a significant reduction in flakiness, especially on my cheeks. 1. The ingredients are disappointing considering the price As someone with sensitive skin, I carefully examine ingredients, and I was hesitant to use this due to the presence of several allergens and less-than-ideal components. If I wasn't testing it as a Hwahae Tester, I probably wouldn't have used it at all. 2. The price is outrageous It's far too expensive considering the quantity and ingredients. These days, there are many cleansing oils on the market with better ingredients that remove makeup effectively, making this one less competitive. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinMar 17, 2019
The Hwahae Testers Review After using the 50ml product provided, here's my review: - I was initially hesitant to use oil on my blemish-prone skin, fearing it might cause more breakouts. However, after using this product, that wasn't the case. So, if you're worried about blemishes but want to try a cleansing oil, this might be a good option for you. - Even with a full face of makeup including eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara, this cleanser removed everything thoroughly in one go. It's perfect for someone like me who finds double cleansing tedious! - The best part about this product is how it leaves your skin feeling after cleansing. There's no dryness at all - instead, your skin feels hydrated! With my previous cleansing foam, my skin would feel dry almost immediately, but that's not the case with this product. - Another great point is the papaya extract, which is said to remove dead skin cells from the skin's surface. I really felt my skin becoming smoother, giving me a better complexion. - Cleansing with an oil seems to gradually fade blackheads. Also, it's great to know that it cleanses away fine dust, which is a big concern these days. - The price is a bit disappointing! It seems quite high, which might make me hesitate to purchase it. - While the 50ml size is perfect for travel, the container is very inconvenient. The product doesn't come out easily. Other than these, I didn't find any major drawbacks. This isn't exactly a pro tip, but it's crucial to follow when using the product: Make sure to emulsify the oil before rinsing. This step is necessary for completely removing impurities!
