When my skin was in good condition, it somewhat helped with texture, but even then the effects weren't particularly impressive. When I used it during times of high stress and sensitivity, my skin completely flared up. Maybe using it twice a week was too much, given its minimal effects... I'd recommend those with super sensitive skin to avoid this product. Even though I patch tested it on my body, it still caused a reaction on my face. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 13, 2020
I bought this on sale at Olive Young, but I'm leaving a review because it's much worse than I expected. *Texture First, it's a jelly-like consistency, so I can't tell if it's properly removing dead skin cells from my face. It's too watery, making it difficult to exfoliate while looking in the mirror as it runs down to my elbows. I feel like I'm wasting more product than I'm actually using. *Blemishes I usually don't get blemishes easily, but as soon as I used this product, tiny red bumps appeared all over my face. While others didn't mention many issues with blemishes, I experienced severe redness and breakouts immediately after washing. *Effectiveness It's supposed to be excellent for blackhead removal and exfoliation due to its AHA content, but honestly, I'm not convinced. You need to cleanse very thoroughly afterward. Rather than feeling like it's effectively sloughing off dead skin cells, it feels oily and forms small clumps that stick to your face when rinsing with water. This is just my personal opinion, and everyone's skin is different, so please take this as a reference only. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinDec 8, 2019
Absolutely nothing! Stay far away from this product! It doesn't even deserve a single star! I bought this on an Olive Young employee's recommendation because I have super sensitive skin. As many others have mentioned, it gets tangled with facial hair and won't come off! The exfoliator sticks to your face in little bumps, and you can't even scrape it off with your nails. I tried desperately to remove it, which left my skin red and irritated. I'm 100% sure I'll wake up to blemishes tomorrow. So much for dead skin cell removal - this exfoliator just clogs your pores! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 16, 2019
I used it without any issues. The major advantage is that you can easily apply it even when your face or hands are damp, which is very convenient. I ruined my skin when I used this while it was sensitive. Of course, it was largely my fault for using a peeling gel when my skin was sensitive, but I was really shocked when I got blisters starting from between my eyebrows, not just pimples. I went to the dermatologist and threw it away immediately afterwards. While I had used it fine before, it probably won't suit those with sensitive skin, and the scent isn't particularly pleasant either. Also, as some people have mentioned, it occasionally clumps on the skin, requiring you to scrape it off with your nails. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 6, 2019
There's nothing... Nothing at all. Maybe it just looks pretty..? First off, I've never used a gel-type peeling gel before, and as other reviews mentioned, it kept breaking apart. Also, despite the reviews saying it's very hydrating, as I applied and rubbed it on my skin, the gel turned into a gommage-like texture + water, which made it uncomfortable as water kept dripping down my hands and arms during the peeling process. I wasn't sure if it was actually exfoliating or not, so I might have used it for too long, which resulted in an immediate skin irritation. After that, I noticed that all products containing 'Acrylate/~' (an ingredient in this product) cause my skin to react. It could be the plant-based AHA, BHA ingredients causing irritation, but I'm not sure of the exact cause. Due to the skin irritation, I returned the product right after using it once. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 26, 2018
It squeezes out like noodles, which is oddly satisfying. The pleasure factor is through the roof. That's all there is to it. I have extremely dry skin, especially in winter. The area around my mouth and cheeks flakes white, and no moisturizer seems to help. I also have sensitive skin with enlarged pores and small blemishes. Using this product, I couldn't tell if it was removing dead skin cells, dirt, or actually peeling off my skin. I tossed it after a week. After the first use, the area around my mouth turned reddish-purple. The itching was unbearable - I nearly fainted! I had to see a dermatologist, who said the product was too harsh. And I didn't even scrub hard! It didn't even remove blackheads and whiteheads around my nose. Plus, it left my skin feeling uncomfortably slippery. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinOct 8, 2018
As a winner of The Hwahae Testers event on Hwahae, I was impressed with how well this product exfoliates and evens skin tone. The lightweight texture makes it easy to apply. The inclusion of AHA and BHA ingredients, along with its popularity in Japan (selling 10 million units), gave me more confidence in the product. I loved how my skin felt more receptive to other skincare products after using this. Having won this through the event, I'm definitely considering repurchasing once I finish the product. The thin consistency can be a bit inconvenient to use. As someone with super sensitive skin, I initially experienced some redness in certain areas when I first started using it. However, this subsided after a few days of continued use. I chalked it up to the usual adjustment period that comes with trying new skincare products. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 30, 2018
This was my first time using a non-scrub exfoliator, and I definitely felt less irritation during use. I found it more convenient since I could use it even with wet hands. After using it and removing the moisture, I felt my skin texture became smoother. I liked that the container had a cap in the middle, so I didn't have to worry about leaks when carrying it around. While I experienced less irritation during use, immediately after using it, I noticed many small bumps appearing on my face. It seems there might be some irritating ingredients. It was fine during use, but afterwards, blemishes kept appearing. I'm not sure if I'm incompatible with AHA ingredients. Also, I couldn't really feel if dead skin cells were being removed. I have severe sebum and dead skin cells around my nose area, but I hardly noticed any improvement through this exfoliator. It just felt slightly softer? The effect was minimal around the nose, and I got some minor blemishes around my cheeks. The softness I felt after use also had a stuffy feeling, like a film was covering my skin. I had to cleanse once, use the product, and then use a cleansing foam again to feel okay. And I just realized it's supposed to be unscented - it's not. There's a slightly sour, musty scent. Compared to the black Lush exfoliator I used before, this one was definitely less effective. Since the exfoliation effect wasn't dramatic and it wasn't particularly gentle either, I don't think it's a product I'd use frequently. I have combination dehydrated skin. If I need to remove dead skin cells or sebum, I think it's better to use cleansing oil and foam regularly, and occasionally use a scrub. However, if I were to recommend this, it might be suitable for those who don't have a lot of dead skin cells or sebum, but occasionally feel the need for some light exfoliation. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 29, 2018
First off, I want to disclose that I'm writing this review as a selected member of The Hwahae Testers! I have combination skin (oily T-zone + normal U-zone) with pustular acne and closed comedones scattered all over my face. My skin is also extremely thin and super sensitive. I've always been stressed about dead skin cells that become more noticeable when I apply makeup, so I've been searching for an exfoliating product. I was lucky enough to be chosen to try this one out. Initially, I was surprised by how much product you get - the container is bigger than I expected! I really liked that this is a peeling product you use on damp skin. Right after cleansing, I applied about two pumps and gently massaged it in. • There's no pain immediately after cleansing • Maybe because it's used on damp skin, but right after rinsing, my skin felt noticeably smoother • It doesn't leave my skin feeling too dry My skin tends to react badly to physical exfoliation - it swells up like mosquito bites and my pores become enlarged. With chemical irritants (e.g., allergic reactions to organic UV filters in sunscreens), I get contact dermatitis-like symptoms where my face turns bright red, swells, and feels hot. While this product didn't cause any new blemishes, I noticed my face, especially my cheeks, suddenly turning red a few minutes after completing my skincare routine following the peeling step. It seemed to intensify my redness issues. However, there was no pain or itching - just the redness from what I assume was irritation. It did subside by the next morning. For reference, I used to use Dr.G Mild Peeling, which was my holy grail exfoliating product. After trying this one, I have to say I probably won't reach for it as often as my previous favorite. Don't forget to use it on damp skin! Overall rating = 3/5 (It's okay) - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 29, 2018
<The Hwahae Testers Winner Review> First of all, I'm grateful to have won and used the product well as a first-time Hwahae Tester. -My skin type Super sensitive skin that easily reddens due to various ingredients Extremely dry skin, even in summer Small whiteheads (sebum) spread due to inability to exfoliate Very thin skin with visible blood vessels -Usage review Initially, I tried using it on dry skin like other products, and the next day on damp skin. I found it more effective for dead skin cell removal when used on damp skin. It was definitely convenient to use while showering. The texture feels soft and bouncy, so compared to other peeling gels I've used before, I noticed it was much less irritating. On the first day, when I used it all over my face, my sensitive T-zone immediately turned red. So from the next day, I only used it on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks, which worked well without irritation. When used on damp skin, you need to massage for quite a while before the peeling gel solidifies and comes off. Other formulas tend to clump up and fall off as soon as you rub, but with this product, you need to massage for a bit longer. Using it daily during showers on the outer parts of the face (excluding sensitive areas), followed by two layers each of Cynic toner and emulsion, leaves the skin feeling silky smooth.
