I tried this because it was said to be gentle, and it definitely seems to be. The texture feels like a jelly that clumps together - think of an aloe soothing gel for reference. The pump-type packaging makes it clean and convenient to use. I think it would suit those looking for a low-irritation product... Apart from being gentle, I couldn't find much else to praise. I have combination skin, but I didn't really feel like it was effective at removing dead skin cells. Personally, when I used it on my face, I wasn't very satisfied because it left a residue that didn't wash off well. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinOct 19, 2018
What I loved most was how effective the exfoliation is even when used on damp skin. There's no need to rub for a long time, which means less irritation for the skin - that's a big plus. After exfoliating, my skin definitely feels softer. The price doesn't seem particularly cheap, especially the unscented version which rarely seems to go on sale. Also, there's the inconvenience of having to cleanse again with a foam cleanser because residue keeps getting left behind after exfoliating. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 30, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review: Product texture: It has a thin, soft pudding-like consistency. Unlike other products I've used, it comes out in small, round clumps. When applied to the face, it breaks apart and spreads easily. Scent: It's fragrance-free, but if you smell closely, there's a faint medicinal scent. However, you won't notice it unless you're actively trying to smell it. As someone who prefers unscented products, I really liked this! Dryness: I have extremely dehydrated skin. With other products, my skin feels smooth after use, but during application, I often experience stinging or tightness after exfoliation. Because of this, I only used to exfoliate once a week. The biggest advantage of this product is its thin, gentle texture. It exfoliates without causing irritation or excessive tightness afterwards. This is its most significant benefit. While it's gentle, it doesn't provide an intense cooling sensation during exfoliation. I wouldn't recommend this to those who prefer a more thorough dead skin cell removal experience. I have peach fuzz on my skin, and even after gentle cleansing post-exfoliation, some residue can get caught in the fine hairs. If you have similar skin, make sure to cleanse extra thoroughly! Recommended for those with dry skin. You can use it immediately after cleansing, but it seems to work better when applied to skin that's slightly damp rather than soaking wet. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSep 25, 2018
You can do a gentle exfoliation! Despite the drawbacks I'll mention below, I'm giving it 4 stars because it really does refine your skin texture in a gentle way. After exfoliating, there's no tingling sensation, and your skin texture becomes smooth and refined. As the product claims, it transforms your skin to better absorb makeup! I tend to get blemishes during my menstrual cycle, but my skin isn't super sensitive. It's so non-irritating that I feel it's okay to use 2-3 times a week. This peeling gel provides slightly more skin texture refinement than an exfoliating toner. The formula doesn't adhere well to the face. It keeps falling off when you try to roll it. As you roll, it separates into water and clumps, which stick together, leaving residue that makes it a bit difficult to cleanse. Instead of squeezing out a lot at once to cover your whole face, it's better to use small amounts and roll it over different areas. This way, you save the gel and achieve better rolling results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 22, 2018
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. I tried the product at night after removing my makeup. The texture was fascinating - like konjac jelly? It has a jelly-like consistency. When applied to the face and massaged, it seems to melt due to body heat, turning into a watery state. As you continue massaging, it rolls off like dead skin cells. It's so gentle that I don't really feel like it's effectively removing dead skin cells. The exfoliation level is similar to Missha's Super Aqua Peeling Gel. Hmm, after using this product, I felt like there was some residue left on my skin. Even though I followed up with a low pH foam cleanser, and used the same makeup and skincare routine as usual, I woke up the next morning with 5 new blemishes on my cheeks! I'm too scared to use it again. I was excited to win this in an event and wanted to give a thorough review, but it just doesn't agree with my skin at all... I can't continue using it. Since it feels like there's residue left behind, it might be a good idea to follow up with a low pH foam cleanser. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSep 15, 2018
The transparent gel texture caused minimal irritation. Unlike other gommage peeling gels that leave skin feeling smooth but desperately in need of hydration, this one kept my skin feeling moisturized even after exfoliation. I loved how it left my skin feeling hydrated long after use. If you don't exfoliate thoroughly, some residue may be left on your face. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 9, 2018
While I was in Japan, the weather was dry and I felt like dead skin cells were building up, so I bought this product with some skepticism. There were only three types of peeling gels from this company on the shelf, so I chose the one that seemed the gentlest. After trying it, I must say the exfoliating effect is really impressive. However, even after washing my face post-use, there's a lingering feeling on my skin. It's as if my skin surface keeps dissolving, if that makes sense? It tends to clump up around areas like the eyebrows, so you need to be extra thorough when cleansing. No matter how good the ingredients are supposed to be, I don't think chemical exfoliation is always the best option. I only use it two or three times a month, depending on my skin's condition. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJan 18, 2018
This is a must-have! I bought the P** brand that was ranked #1, but it irritated my skin. My skin broke out, dead skin cells wouldn't come off, and my makeup looked patchy. Now, I use this product daily with a bit of water, followed by Physiogel. My skin is as smooth as a peeled egg! Everyone asks how my skin looks so good. I've become a true beauty. The residue doesn't wash off as easily with water alone as I expected, so I end up cleansing a second time. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinJan 5, 2018
I bought this on a friend's recommendation, and it seems quite gentle for a peeling gel! As someone with super sensitive skin, I never thought I'd use a peeling gel, but I've been using Detclear regularly! It feels so good when my skin becomes smoother after using it. If you use it according to the amount and instructions on the container, your skin might become red and irritated. For those with extremely sensitive skin, it might be better to avoid peeling gels altogether. Also, if you don't rinse thoroughly while cleansing, there could be residue left on your skin. You can make it less irritating by using fewer pumps than recommended and diluting it slightly with plenty of water on your skin before use! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSep 10, 2017
This was the first time I purchased and used the peeling gel, and I absolutely loved it. It's easy to use and not too harsh on the skin, so I used it every other morning and noticed a definite improvement in my skin tone. The fragrance-free formula was also a plus, as it didn't bother me. If you don't rinse it off thoroughly after use, it can leave a sticky residue behind. And while I chose the fragrance-free option, I felt like it didn't quite match my skin as well as I had hoped. I recommend using an inexpensive face towel along with the peeling gel. It works better than just using your hands. It's also great to use before applying a CC cream or other coverage product.
