DTRT's Shooting Light brightening moisturizer is designed for men, naturally illuminating dull skin. It has an emulsion-like texture with tiny beads visible up close. While it looks a bit pale to me, others say it looks fine. I apply it over my sunscreen and blend it down my neck to avoid any harsh lines. Texture-wise, it has a slightly matte feel but spreads easily and absorbs well. Despite my oily skin, the initial tightness I felt right after application didn't last. Fragrance The citrus scent is really great! My previous brightening moisturizer had an overpowering sweet smell that made me hesitant to apply it, but this product has a lovely fragrance. 2. Application/Coverage The absorption is pretty good. Let's be honest, most men rarely use puffs or sponges when applying sunscreen or brightening moisturizers. So it's important that it spreads well with just your hands, and this product does that nicely. It absorbs quickly and provides natural coverage, making it easy to use. Plus, there's not a huge difference between before and after application, so it should look natural on men. 3. Ingredients According to Hwahae, there's only one ingredient to be cautious about. It's good that it doesn't contain any pore-clogging ingredients. Many regular sunscreens have a lot of those... 1. Lacks sun protection It's disappointing that this brightening moisturizer doesn't offer much in terms of sun protection. Applying both this and sunscreen would be too heavy, but using this alone doesn't provide enough protection. 2. Slight stickiness? While it absorbs quickly, the feeling afterwards is a bit odd - dry yet slightly sticky? It controls oil well, leaving the skin matte, but there's a slight tackiness. It's not bothersome or uncomfortable, but I'd recommend testing it on your hand before purchasing.

The pump makes it easy to control the amount, so you can dispense just the right quantity. If you spread it evenly, it does a good job of neutralizing redness in your complexion. It would be an excellent base for those who use cushion foundations or BB creams. Natural brightening effect: - While it can cover a wide area with a small amount, it's easy to misjudge the quantity. Using too much can result in an overly white appearance, making your face look unnaturally pale. Longevity: - If you apply it in the morning before leaving home, the brightening effect seems to disappear after about 2 hours. However, the product feels too heavy to carry around for touch-ups. Heaviness/Oiliness: - As mentioned earlier, applying this product after emulsion and sunscreen can make your skin feel heavy and overly rich. Although it has sun protection, I still use sunscreen as I'm not completely confident in its UV blocking ability alone. Pilling: - It tends to pill around the nose and beard area. While BB creams even out darker skin tones for a brightening effect, this brightening moisturizer is designed for those with redness or uneven complexion. It's used to neutralize redness in the skin. Think of it as a makeup base among women's cosmetics products. Personally, I tend to have quite noticeable redness, but I found that when the green capsules burst, they effectively counteract the redness, which I really like. However, one downside is that when the green capsules burst, the texture becomes quite thick rather suddenly. Even though I'm sure I applied it evenly, I often heard comments from others saying, 'It looks like you missed a spot there.' I'd recommend this for those with fair skin that's prone to redness, while those with darker skin tones might prefer a BB cream. Personally, I didn't feel any discomfort when applying it. It absorbed smoothly. - Brightening effect: It's definitely there. However, you really need to control the amount well. If you squeeze out too much and just apply it, you'll end up with an unappealing white face. If you think of it as spot coverage and apply it little by little, you can achieve a natural fair skin look, not like the white cast from sunscreen! - There's no perfect skin tone corrector - While it does correct the complexion to some extent, there are limitations. It's clear that the green capsules provide some coverage for redness, but it seems to require a certain level of precision when applying. Even with my extremely oily skin, it didn't disappear quickly. I liked the natural-looking brightening effect. Most importantly, don't worry about it coming off - it becomes spotless with just a little water. Some drawbacks: 1. If you apply it when you have flaky skin, be careful as it can create a lot of excess powder. 2. It has a grayish tint that can make you look a bit dull. 3. Remember, use it in moderation - too much and you might look ghostly! 4. There's a slight increase in oiliness, but it's tolerable. Insider tips revealed: 1. I apologize for the delayed feedback. Since this is a men's product, I asked my husband to use it and share his thoughts. My husband originally had combination dehydrated skin, but it's been getting drier lately, so now it's almost dry. The product has a slightly thinner consistency than I expected, which my husband found nice as it wasn't too heavy for him to use. The brightness also matched well with his skin tone. He has slightly blemish-prone skin, so at first his face was a bit red after washing, but it improved after a few days of use. We both liked the attractive packaging and the scent. We're a bit of an old-soul couple, so we appreciated the slightly cool fragrance. We prefer it over heavier scents! When asked if he'd buy it again, his response was just 'so-so'. These days, many brightening moisturizers come with added sun protection, so it was a bit disappointing this one didn't. I think it would be great if it had multiple functions, as men generally prefer simpler skincare routines. As I'm sure you all know, you should only apply a small amount of brightening moisturizer. While brightening moisturizers are typically suited for summer when skin is more exposed, this product is different. Its rich texture and skin-protective feel may be polarizing, but it's highly recommendable for dry skin in winter. Since everyone has different preferences and skin types, I strongly suggest testing it before purchasing. 2. A new proposition for men. Brightening moisturizers are predominantly used by women, but I'm aware that many men are now showing interest in skincare without stigma. However, I've encountered situations where men want a natural look but lack experience in product selection and application techniques. In this sense, brightening moisturizers can naturally illuminate the skin while avoiding drawbacks of other base makeup products like darkening, need for touch-ups, or mismatched shades. 1. Feels heavy. It felt like it created a suffocating layer on my skin. I expected it to bridge skincare and makeup like a primer, but instead it felt more like a barrier that interfered with both steps. 2. Greasiness. Related to the heaviness, this product feels very oily when applied. Rather than spreading evenly, it seemed to clump and felt grainy. Initially, I worried it might interfere with skin breathing, but while that wasn't a major issue, the greasy feeling was disappointing. This isn't about a natural dewy glow blending with base makeup. 3. Too white. It's more whitening than brightening. I'll share tips on managing this below. 4. Price. There are many other brightening moisturizers on the market. I can't recommend this considering its price-to-performance ratio. 1. What if it's too white? As a first-time user preferring natural makeup, I initially struggled with the whiteness and neck mismatch. Here's how I made it work: 1-1. Mix with cream. If you want a translucent, clear look rather than full coverage, mix it with your final skincare product. I use a 2:1 ratio of moisturizer to brightening moisturizer, followed by sunscreen. This creates a more natural finish and works for body application too. 1-2. Use as a highlighter. You don't need to apply it everywhere. Highlight areas like the forehead, nose bridge, and chin for a more natural glow than dedicated highlighter products. 2. Salvaging mismatched base makeup. If you have base makeup that's too dark due to tanning, changing preferences, or incorrect shade selection, try mixing it with brightening moisturizer. It may take some experimentation to match your skin tone, but it's worth it to revive products you might otherwise discard.
