There's nothing particularly good about it. I guess the only positive is that it's non-nano and silicone-free? It's incredibly thick and greasy. As soon as you apply it to your face, it pills up like dirt. I've never experienced a sunscreen like this before... And after wearing it all day, I noticed blemishes popping up by the evening. Sigh... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 3, 2019
As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I can speak from that perspective. Given the nature of mineral sunscreens, I experienced almost no dryness over time and no eye irritation. While there's some white cast, it provides a nice brightening effect. It applies smoothly and settles naturally after a short while. While the ingredients are truly excellent and it doesn't cause major blemishes, being a mineral sunscreen makes it challenging to remove. I need to cleanse first with a low pH foam cleanser, then thoroughly with a cleansing gel to remove about 90% of it. This thorough cleansing prevents acne, but I still get some small bumps. The wax-like ingredients provide long-lasting hydration, but the texture feels quite thick. Frequent reapplication is necessary, but this can lead to pilling, oiliness, and stickiness, potentially clogging pores and causing breakouts. As a man, I'm a bit disappointed by the slight pink tint in the base. Don't apply the full amount at once. Instead, layer it gradually with your hands for a natural brightening effect. Those with dry skin might appreciate its non-drying formula. For combination dehydrated or oily skin types, it's better suited for winter use. It might feel heavy in summer, especially with sweat potentially leading to more clogged pores. If you don't cleanse thoroughly or reapply too often, clogging pores could increase the likelihood of acne. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 3, 2019
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. I've been applying this product frequently because it's known to be gentle, and it truly is! It doesn't feel heavy at all, and it leaves my skin feeling light and fresh. It even provides a slight brightening effect. While it's not completely free from pilling, compared to other products... it's much better! The scent is also mild, which I really appreciate. I expected it to have a thick texture that would leave my skin feeling powdery, but it actually leaves a bit of a shiny finish... There's also some transfer, unfortunately. Since I don't like the shininess, I usually apply some no-sebum powder after using this. I find that applying it with a brush can cause pilling, so I prefer to pat it on with a puff instead. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 2, 2019
The best thing was definitely how gentle the product was, as it didn't cause any blemishes. Having sensitive skin, I always experienced breakouts when switching cosmetics, but this adapted so well without any issues, which was fantastic. The texture wasn't too thick, so I was worried it might not apply well, but it had great absorption and was more hydrating than I expected. It was a bit rich for me, but it felt great before makeup as it prevented any deep dryness. I think it's a decent product for daily use, but the downside is that it feels a bit rich, so those with oily skin might find it too greasy. This would be great for those with dry skin to use before makeup. It takes care of dry patches while adding a glow that makes your skin look good, and it doesn't cause foundation to pill, which I really liked. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMay 29, 2019
The Hwahae Testers review: I had high expectations for this product when I received it! As someone who works in a place with constant sun exposure, choosing the right sunscreen is crucial. To cut to the chase, I'd recommend this product to 'those who typically wear makeup'! Let me break it down for you: Skin-friendly ingredients: It's a Hwahae-approved product with good ingredients and high sun protection, so I felt safe using it! Hydration: Medium / Becomes dry over time As a woman in her mid-20s with combination dehydrated skin, slight sensitivity, and visible pores, this product provided decent hydration. However, the texture feels a bit like 'mom's makeup', so rather than being super moisturizing, it's more like a base with a touch of hydration. Texture/Application: Smooth for a mineral sunscreen, but slightly thick like a makeup base For a mineral sunscreen, it applies surprisingly well! However, it feels more like a beige-tinted makeup base than a light sunscreen. Since it's not a watery formula, it might feel a bit heavy if you apply too much. Still, it's perfect as a base for those who wear makeup! Brightening effect: Medium-high It won't turn you ghostly white! I liked how it naturally evens skin tone. The natural beige color seems to enhance the brightening effect. Texture: While this product worked well for me as someone who wears makeup, my boyfriend, who finds even applying sunscreen bothersome, wouldn't use it at all. He found it intimidating because the product isn't white but beige, making it look like makeup. He also mentioned that the scent reminded him of 'mom's emulsion' (for lack of a better description) - a mature, feminine fragrance that didn't appeal to him. If it had a moisturizing, emulsion-like texture, I might have applied it more frequently. However, the slight thickness and makeup-like feel made it difficult to reapply every hour. It felt quite noticeable on the skin. If you control the amount well, it can be used continuously and works great as a makeup base! However, please note that men (at least my boyfriend and his friends) tend to shy away from it. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinMay 27, 2019
First off, my skin type: As shown in the photo, I apply a generous amount covering two finger joints, just once in the morning. I don't reapply. I usually blot with an oil sheet once in the afternoon. I'd say my skin is fairly normal. This product has a thick consistency with a slight pink tint. Here are some key points: 1. Excellent ingredients I usually prefer physical sunscreens, and this one is non-nano too. They even mention that natural emulsifiers might cause product separation - that's so reassuring! No other problematic ingredients, and the first ingredient is aloe vera leaf juice instead of just water. Very trustworthy! 2. Almost fragrance-free I'm not particularly sensitive to scents, but I really dislike strong fragrances in facial products. This one has a very faint natural scent that disappears quickly. 3. Gives a nice glow At my age, I appreciate a glowy finish. I only use physical sunscreens, and some can give a nice glow like this one. It gives an instant glow that lasts all day, but it's not oily - when I blot in the afternoon, nothing comes off. Some might find it a bit shiny, but I like how healthy it makes my skin look. 4. Medium spreadability It's not super easy to spread, but not difficult either. Like most physical sunscreens, it needs a bit of effort. Due to the thick texture, you need to blend well to avoid white patches. The white cast isn't too severe though. 5. Barely any dryness Despite the glow, it doesn't dry out my skin. Some matte sunscreens can make skin look cracked by afternoon, but this one doesn't. 6. Slight brightening effect As a physical sunscreen, it has a slight white cast. The pinkish tint gives a subtle brightening effect if blended well. 7. No irritation No eye stinging (which can happen even with some physical sunscreens), no skin irritation (I've had to toss other 'good ingredient' products before due to irritation), and no blemishes so far. The thick consistency is both a pro and a con: 1. Medium spreadability If you're looking for a physical sunscreen that spreads as easily as a chemical one, this isn't it. Also, if your moisturizer is thick (I used La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume), they don't play well together. They separate on the skin. (It works fine with Innisfree's Cica Balm though.) 2. Thorough cleansing needed It adheres well to the skin, so you need to double cleanse and be very thorough. Otherwise, you'll find white patches left behind. 3. Moderate makeup compatibility Like most physical sunscreens, it doesn't work great under foundation. It can't compete with chemical sunscreens in this aspect. But I still prefer physical sunscreens. As mentioned in the cons, use a lighter moisturizer in your last skincare step (like Innisfree's Cica Balm gel-type cream, or just an emulsion for oily skin types) to prevent the sunscreen from pilling. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 2, 2019
Review from The Hwahae Testers: When choosing a sunscreen, I look for three key factors: 1. Ingredients 2. Oil content 3. Brightening effect No matter how good the ingredients or brightening effect, if it's excessively oily, I immediately pass. I really dislike that slippery, greasy feeling! Unfortunately, most sunscreens tend to be quite oily, which is always a concern for me. Anyway, this product does have a slight slip to it, but it feels different from typical oiliness. If the oil in most sunscreens feels like pouring cooking oil on a sweaty summer face (which I absolutely hate), this product's texture feels more... set in place. It's as if there's an incredibly thin, silicone-like transparent protective layer gently covering the skin. So when I applied it, I thought, 'Oh, this actually feels protective!' Because it creates this thin layer, it also seemed to make my makeup application smoother. I was pleasantly surprised that my makeup didn't clump and looked more even than I expected. The scent isn't overpowering, and I'm satisfied with the ingredients as well. The downside is... well, the amount you get for the price. When I received it, I noticed about a third of the container was empty space. Of course, I didn't expect the product to fill 100% of the container, but seeing such a clear empty space at the top third was a bit disheartening. Additionally, this product has a thick consistency. It doesn't flow like water or spread easily like a cream. You need to have patience and spread it very thinly and evenly. I recommend applying it in thin, even layers. When I used it, my makeup adhered well without pilling, but I still strongly suggest patting your makeup on with a puff after applying this sunscreen for the best results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 20, 2019
The mineral sunscreen ingredients are gentle. Despite my sensitive, blemish-prone skin, I haven't experienced any small bumps. There's significant white cast, but once it's applied, my skin feels incredibly smooth. The product is 50ml, but it seems only 70% full. Are they selling less than advertised? I can't help feeling a bit cheated. It's labeled as 50ml, but the texture is quite thick, and immediately after application, my skin looks oily and shiny. It's terrible for summer use. When mixed with foundation, it blends seamlessly without any patchiness, addressing all concerns. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 17, 2019
※ I wanted to take a photo, but I couldn't upload one due to storage issues. I'm sorry! ※ First, when I looked at the ingredients, I saw zero concerning components and 100% naturally derived ingredients, so I confidently applied to be part of The Hwahae Testers! I've been using it for about a week now, and it's so good that I'm posting this review early >< The first ingredient is aloe vera leaf juice! Is this what makes this sunscreen so hydrating? My skin gets dry in winter, so I usually apply skin toner, emulsion, and cream, then mix emulsion with sunscreen. But with this sunscreen, I don't need to mix in emulsion - it's super moisturizing on its own! It might be too rich for those with oily skin in summer though! The product description claimed there's no white cast, but there's a slight one! It just gives a subtle brightening effect! My skin is super sensitive, and even products without concerning ingredients can cause reactions. But even when I used this while my skin was irritated, it didn't worsen my blemishes! That's exactly my current situation, and I feel like it might even be slightly concealing my blemishes!! Maybe it's just my imagination!?... When you squeeze this product out, it doesn't run even if you tilt it sideways! So it's great for applying to your face after squeezing some onto the back of your hand. The scent has a slight floral note, which I love!! Looking at the ingredients list on the box, I noticed a bunch of flower oils and extracts at the end. And from my personal experience! I loved that a small amount goes a long way. When I used the same amount as my previous sunscreen, I could cover my face, neck, hands, and wrists! How should I explain this... it's quite thick, so it can be a bit challenging to spread evenly! There were areas where it clumped and others where it didn't apply smoothly! And as I mentioned earlier, because it's thick, it feels a bit sticky... So I'm worried that makeup might not adhere well on top of it...
