At first, I was skeptical about how this thick, shoe polish-like texture would roll on the skin. But when you scoop a small amount with the spatula and massage it onto your face, it rolls surprisingly smoothly. The feeling is quite different from cleansing oils, focusing more on sebum removal and thorough cleansing. ✔️Excellent cleansing power for removing sebum! Is it due to the charcoal's properties? After rolling, emulsifying, rolling again, and rinsing with water, your face feels deeply cleansed. Unlike some cleansing oils that can feel heavy if you choose the wrong texture, this product leaves you feeling refreshed without any lingering heaviness. ✔️Overall verdict! Regardless of The Hwahae Testers' selection, I'm willing to purchase this with my own money and continue using it. It feels like I've finally found a first-step cleanser with a truly satisfying formula.
ConsIt's hard to find any downsides, as I'm so satisfied with how it performs. If I had one small wish, it would be for a larger size option. When using the spatula, it seems like the product might run out faster than expected, considering the total amount in the container.
TipFor areas with concentrated blackheads or sebum like the T-zone or sides of the nose, focus on massaging those spots thoroughly. Then, add a bit of water and roll it as you would when emulsifying a cleansing oil. This technique definitely boosts the sebum removal effectiveness!

This often leaves me feeling uncomfortable. However, when I cleanse with this product, I immediately feel like my skin is thoroughly clean. I'm truly very satisfied with it!
ConsIf you consider using it daily, the amount is a bit disappointing. I wish they would release a larger size!

Honestly, I was worried the dark color might make it look like blackheads stuck in my pores, but that concern was unnecessary! 2. There was noticeably less skin tightness after use. 3. It removes makeup effectively! 4. I loved how creamy and smooth it felt when applying! 5. I usually hate twist-off caps, but this one opens with a satisfying 'pop' which I really like!
Cons1. However, as someone who prefers a squeaky-clean feel, I wasn't fully satisfied with just this and ended up double cleansing... 2. The amount is a bit small. It seems like it might not last long if used generously... Apart from these points, everything else was great!

There's a built-in spatula that can be conveniently stored in the lid. The flip-top design makes it easy to open and close. There's an inner transparent plastic cover, which I removed. While the product isn't runny, keeping that cover on during travel could prevent spills if the lid opens. Overall, I felt the packaging was thoughtfully designed with the user in mind. ✔️ Texture and Scent: It has a typical balm consistency without any granules. I expected a charcoal scent, but it's more floral. While I can't pinpoint the exact fragrance, it's subtle and universally appealing. ✔️ Cleansing Effectiveness: Using the built-in spatula, a little goes a long way. It spreads easily and removes makeup efficiently (Note: I don't wear heavy makeup, but occasionally when I skip cleansing oil, even eyeliner pencil can be stubborn). Most importantly, it's surprisingly effective at removing excess sebum! I was pleased that it could remove sebum just by gently massaging, without any irritation. Though I hadn't heard of this brand before, I'm very satisfied with the product itself. When it's time to buy a new first-step cleanser, I'd definitely consider repurchasing this one.
ConsGiven how competitive the cleansing product market is these days in terms of quality and price, 16,800 won for 100ml might not seem very competitive. Since it doesn't have a particularly short shelf life, it would be nice if they offered a larger size option as well.
TipSince the product itself is black, you might notice some black residue when rinsing it off - using it in the shower rather than at the sink saves you from having to clean the basin afterwards.

I'm 10000% going to repurchase it! # Product Packaging First off, the product looks so luxurious that it doesn't clash with my bathroom decor, which is great. It would also make a lovely gift! The balm format requires a spatula, but I love that it's built into the lid, so you don't need to prepare or remember to bring one separately. # Texture The absorbs beautifully! It glides on incredibly smoothly. The feeling when it touches your skin is absolutely delightful. # Cleansing Effectiveness This is what I love most about it. I've seen many reviews praising its cleansing power, but I've been let down so many times that I was skeptical. But wow, the cleansing effectiveness is truly outstanding! I always wear makeup to work and tend to go for a heavier eye look. Even with my current favorite oil cleanser, I usually have to double cleanse my eyes. But with this product, the initial application removes everything perfectly, including eye makeup! Especially for me, under-eye liner and eyeliner close to my lashes have always been stubborn to remove. This product wipes it all away in one go, which really impressed me and is the biggest reason I'll definitely repurchase. In terms of usage, I found that using the built-in spatula to scoop out two full rounds was more than enough for thorough cleansing. It's definitely not wasteful. # User Experience To be honest, I usually don't prefer balm formulas as they tend to feel heavier and more suffocating than oils. However, this one feels incredibly lightweight and hydrating! I love how it doesn't leave an oily finish and feels refreshing after use. # Ingredients With its 100% vegan recipe, free from 23 controversial ingredients, plus Jirisan charcoal and 15 natural ingredients, I feel confident using it.
ConsThere's nothing I dislike about it, but personally, I wish it came in a larger size at a more affordable price!
TipAfter applying the balm to my face, I focus on areas where pores are a concern (for me, that's my nose and chin). I apply a slightly thicker layer there, warm my hands, and do some concentrated rolling motions. The oil helps dissolve blackheads and whiteheads, noticeably clearing out the more prominent ones. I have quite a few whiteheads on my chin, so I do this intensive rolling process every other day. As a result, I've noticed that just cleansing alone helps clear out the larger blemishes, significantly reducing how often I need to use pore strips for manual extraction.

The scent was subtle and didn't bother me much, though I couldn't quite place it. As someone who doesn't wear makeup often, I can't speak much to its cleansing effectiveness. However, on days when my skin is extra oily, I usually use oil cleansing, and this balm feels like a solidified version of that. It spreads smoothly and gives a similar sensation when you massage it in. Being new to balm-type cleansers, I wasn't sure if I should wipe it off with a cotton pad, but when I tried washing my hands first, it emulsified really well. I finished up with a foam cleanser afterwards. The after-feel was incredibly hydrating, so I think I'll reach for this more often than my cleansing oil.
ConsThere's not much to complain about, but I think those who wear heavy makeup might find the amount a bit too small.
TipI think it would work great to apply this on nose blackheads and cover with a warm towel.

It's easy to scoop with a spatula or your fingers. The texture is incredibly smooth. Scent: Personally, I love that it reminds me of acacia gum. It has a lovely floral fragrance. I was a bit worried about the scent since it's a charcoal cleansing balm, but I'm satisfied with its subtle floral aroma! Cleansing effectiveness: As expected from a cleansing balm, it removes makeup really well. It even takes off mascara on full-makeup days! I usually apply a lot of sunscreen, and this balm removes it effortlessly. I'm very pleased! For sebum and pores, I focus on those areas with extra massaging and emulsification. It seems to manage sebum as well as my previous Banila Co cleansing balm. Hydration: I don't prefer products that leave my skin feeling tight after cleansing. This product leaves my skin feeling less tight and dry after use! Especially now when it's so dry that my lips are cracking, I think this would suit combination dehydrated skin types like mine well! It's great that I can go straight to applying emulsion after cleansing without any dryness.
ConsThere are some ingredients to be cautious about. Those with super sensitive skin should definitely do a patch test. While I personally like the scent, some people might not enjoy it. The price is a bit high and the amount is small. Since cleansing balms are used daily, it would be better if there was a larger size available.
TipEveryone knows that for a more thorough cleanse, you should massage for 1-2 minutes and then emulsify, right?

I've only tried the Banila Co cleansing balm before, and this one feels even gentler! Since it contains charcoal and is black, I was worried there might be a gritty feeling or residue left on the skin after rinsing, but there wasn't any of that at all. It melts incredibly smoothly, feels soft, and emulsifies super quickly! It transforms as soon as it touches water! I had stopped using cleansing balms after a previous one caused small bumps, but this one doesn't do that at all. It's great at dissolving blackheads too. The finish is perfect - not too oily or dry, just the right amount of hydration.
ConsIf I had to nitpick, I'd say the small size is a downside. Also, the spatula doesn't stay fixed to the lid well and often falls into the container when you open it.
TipEmulsification is a must! Just add a bit of warm water and gently massage in circular motions to dissolve sebum effectively.

I was curious about how it would look on my face, but as I applied it, it emulsified into a dark gray color. I've used products before that were hard to remove because they didn't emulsify well, but this one melts smoothly on the face and rinses off easily with water. Perhaps because of the charcoal, it feels like it washes off cleanly without any residue! I liked how it removed makeup without feeling slippery, leaving my skin feeling smooth. After using it, I didn't experience any blemishes, and it removed my makeup effectively, so I'm satisfied!
ConsThere's nothing particularly bad to mention! Though the container feels a bit thick compared to the amount of product inside, making it seem like there's slightly less than expected.

It's been a safe choice for me. Unlike some other cleansing balms on the market that can be harsh, this one didn't cause any noticeable irritation. ♥ Fresh finish I use cleansing balms almost daily, but their oily, heavy formulas often left a slippery residue, making a second cleanse necessary. Surprisingly, the Heida cleansing balm doesn't leave an oily feeling - instead, it leaves my skin feeling moisturized! ♥ Convenient packaging Most cleansing balms come with a spatula attached to the lid, but they're often flimsy and the lids are tight, causing the spatula to fall inside - quite annoying! The Heida cleansing balm, however, has a spatula that clicks securely into place, making it much more user-friendly.
ConsWhile I'm satisfied with the ingredients and overall performance, there's one small drawback - the amount is a bit small for a cleansing balm. Since I use it almost daily, I worry it might run out quickly...
TipNo special tips, but when using balm or oil-type cleansers, always make sure to emulsify before rinsing!
