What's more, its clear baby lavender tone naturally neutralizes both yellow and red undertones, effectively evening out the complexion. It brightens the skin beautifully, making it perfect as a primer alternative.
ConsThose with dehydrated skin might find it a bit drying. It does have a somewhat matte finish.

The texture feels slightly matte. However, for those with dry skin, it might create a bit of a white cast.
ConsThe matte formula is a bit disappointing for those with dry skin. After application, it leaves a somewhat dry feeling. Since my complexion is on the darker side, the white cast was quite noticeable. This would be perfect for those with fair skin.
TipFor those with oily skin, try applying a hydrating product as your base before using this. If you apply it directly, it might feel a bit drying.

This product definitely brightens my complexion. The purple base neutralizes both yellow and red undertones, so I don't even need foundation - concealer is enough to cover any imperfections! I've used it as a brightening moisturizer before makeup, and it doesn't feel heavy even with foundation on top. As described, it has a 'silky priming texture' that somewhat covers texture and pores, resulting in a cleaner makeup look. It's also great for matching neck color. Despite my sensitive, atopic skin, I didn't experience any blemishes. It brightens quite noticeably, even for my fair skin with redness - almost to the point where I wonder if it's too much.
ConsIt has that typical mineral sunscreen stiffness when applying, and there's a slight dry, powdery feeling. I'd recommend having a really solid skincare routine underneath. It finishes with a matte look!
TipApplying with a spatula brush and then patting with a damp puff finally made me feel like I was getting my money's worth. It applies in an incredibly thin layer and creates a great base for makeup application.

My skin type is extremely, extremely dry. I never used to have redness, but as I've gotten older, my skin occasionally flushes red like rosacea! I also have severe dark circles and my skin tone is 23, which is on the darker side. Using this product with its purple tint has really brightened my complexion and is quite effective! Compared to other sunscreens with tone-up effects, like the square shake-before-use brightening moisturizer or the similar pink sunscreen: This purple tone-up sunscreen eliminates all the inconveniences of the previous very thin brightening moisturizer. That one had a cute container but it leaked, was inconvenient, and didn't sit well on the skin, so I quickly stopped using it despite initially liking it. This new one is so much better! It's more hydrating and absorbs better than the original pink brightening moisturizer!! Espoir has really been working hard lately... Several products have been renewed, especially their color cosmetics. While the old versions were good, I'm really enjoying the new versions too. Compared to the basic pink sunscreen, this one feels slightly thinner? The pink one seems a bit richer, though I'm not entirely sure as it's been almost 4 years since I used it.. But that's why I like this one more. I love that it's actually called a sunscreen.. And it's purple!!! Other companies already have similar products, but Espoir's version is great in its own right!!! The ingredients are also perfect without any major concerns!! It seems like it would be great for a natural makeup look too.
ConsCompared to a very basic light green watery hydrating sunscreen, this one is definitely drier! But that's unavoidable.. It's hard to expect the same texture, knowing that.. Since it's a mineral sunscreen that emphasizes tone-up effects, if not applied properly, it might cause makeup to pill. It does finish matte.. That's about the only downside.
TipIf you apply too much, you'll look like a ghost! Controlling the amount is essential!

The lavender color really helps even out skin tone! It doesn't make you look too pale or red, but gives a natural brightening effect. (My mom even asked why I looked so fair when I came back from applying sunscreen!) It applies smoothly with a moisturizing feel, but leaves a soft matte finish! Highly recommended for those with oily skin who get shiny even in winter! A little goes a long way and it's very effective! I went skiing with just this sunscreen on my bare face and didn't get sunburned at all. Recommended for oily skin types even in winter! For combination dehydrated skin, it's perfect for summer! In winter, make sure to moisturize well before applying.
ConsIt's more matte than expected, so you need to be thorough with your skincare routine before applying. Sometimes when I rushed and went out, I noticed some dead skin cells showing. To be fair, this is partly due to my skin condition, and it's somewhat unavoidable with a sunscreen that leaves a soft matte finish.
TipIf you need to use a dewy cushion foundation in winter but worry about excess oil, and using powder constantly makes touch-ups difficult, try using this as a base before applying your cushion!

I've tried the Water Splash Sun Cream Tone-Up Lasting. It comes in a convenient tube container that's easy to stand upright and use. The color is closer to blue than purple, and while it's slightly thick, it spreads relatively easily. It has a rich texture that's not too difficult to apply. It definitely brightens the complexion, but without feeling excessively thick or leaving that ghostly white cast like some foreign sunscreens. It gives a transparent brightening effect. You might need to adjust the amount you use though. There's no stinging around the eyes, and it nicely brightens my yellowish shade 23 skin. Great product!
ConsDespite being called 'Water Splash', it doesn't feel particularly hydrating. It has a somewhat matte finish, similar to mineral sunscreens.
TipFor best results, apply a small amount as the final step in your skincare routine to achieve a radiant complexion.

Despite my sensitive skin, I didn't experience any blemishes.
ConsI probably wouldn't repurchase this. For dry skin, the texture is too matte, so I had to add an extra step to my skincare routine and be more thorough than usual. Otherwise, it would flake badly around my nose and forehead, looking like dead skin cells. It might suit oily skin types better. You also need to be careful with the amount you apply. The first time I used it like my regular sunscreen, it didn't absorb properly and looked patchy. Even when I used less the next day, it still applied unevenly.

The application is smooth and easy to spread, with a texture similar to a regular moisturizer, making it light to apply. I love that it's fragrance-free. Perhaps due to my yellowish undertone, when I apply the usual amount of sunscreen, it instantly provides significant brightening. It becomes more natural over time, but it does take a while. What does this mean? The brightening effect lasts quite well! Still, it's essential to control the amount at first. Despite having blemish-prone skin, fortunately, it didn't cause any breakouts. While it definitely brightens, being a sunscreen, it doesn't cover blemishes completely, but it's great for a no-foundation look. This brightening sunscreen seems perfect for those who want quick brightening with a small amount, and for those with a complexion lighter than shade 21.
ConsEven when applying an amount smaller than your pinky nail, it brightens as shown in the photo, so controlling the amount is crucial. After application, it finishes with a semi-matte to matte feel, so it would be best to use a dewy foundation or cushion. For dry skin types, I think it's necessary to prep well with skincare even in summer. For oily skin, prep well and use in winter, and it should work well from spring to fall. If you have a darker complexion, I strongly recommend testing it before purchasing.
TipAs someone with large pores in the T-zone, I found that applying this without primer and just using loose powder on top covered them quite well. You might want to try this method too!

Pairing with foundation: When I first applied this product to my bare face, I was surprised - it felt like I was applying a mud mask! Maybe I used too much? It looked matte and the color seemed off, so I thought I'd messed up. But after wiping some off and letting it absorb, then applying foundation over it - wow! The skin finish is amazing! I'm so impressed that I'll definitely keep using it. Honest review after 10+ uses: Initially, I loved how it set to a powder-like finish when used with foundation. However, as time passed, it really emphasized skin texture, especially on very cold days. The matte formula might be the culprit. I wouldn't recommend it for important days or dates... But I discovered another benefit - it has great staying power. Since it brightens the skin, I've been applying it to my neck, and the longevity is truly impressive!
ConsAmount control is crucial! The first time I used this product, I divided it between my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I must have used too much because instead of a natural brightening effect, I looked like I was wearing stage makeup! Use only a small amount for a pretty, brightening effect. Matte texture: It seems to actually control oil. I personally liked the matte finish! When used with a glowy foundation, you can achieve a makeup look that's neither too dewy nor too matte - just a soft, subtle glow.

So, I was really curious about this new sunscreen! First off, although both products are called Water Splash Sunscreen by Espoir, they're completely different. While the Ceramide version is super hydrating and great as a makeup base, this new one has a surprisingly matte finish, making it perfect for use on its own. It's not overly thick or drying, but if you weren't a fan of the Ceramide sunscreen's rich feel or dewy finish, you might prefer this one (especially in summer). The brightening effect is much improved compared to the Ceramide version. Since coverage tends to be inversely proportional to hydration, this more matte and adhesive purple sunscreen offers better tone-evening capabilities. The purple tint itself does a great job of covering both redness and dullness, which I personally prefer over the pink sunscreen. As someone with dry skin who usually skips foundation and just applies sunscreen before makeup, I think I'll use this purple sunscreen more often. Even with its matte texture, if you layer your skincare properly, it doesn't feel dry or cause flaking. I was very satisfied with how it not only evens out the complexion but also adequately covers and balances redness. The staying power lasted all day for me!
ConsDue to its matte formula, it sets quite quickly. Since it has good brightening properties, if you don't apply it evenly and quickly all over your face, it might leave patchy areas.
