I've left a review for the toner from the same line, and I'm equally satisfied with the cream. After using it for about a month, I think it would suit oily to normal skin types best. As someone with normal skin that's prone to blemishes if the oil and moisture balance is even slightly off, I found this cream to be surprisingly effective. It doesn't feel particularly special or exciting, but it really nails the oil and moisture balance. I'm using it together with the toner and it's working great for me. Hmm... I think those with dry or very dry skin might find this cream a bit lacking in hydration. I personally dislike products that are too rich, so I prefer using lighter formulas with more hydration and mixing in a drop or two of facial oil to customize it for my needs. I'm planning to mix this with some face oil during fall and winter. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinApr 4, 2018
It's got a nice, bouncy texture that adheres well to the skin when applied. While it feels slightly oily at first, it absorbs better than expected. You can still feel a light layer on your skin, but it's not overwhelming. It works well with mineral sunscreen and doesn't pill or feel too sticky even in hot weather, which is great. Fortunately, I didn't experience any major blemishes, but I did notice some redness. While it wasn't solely due to this product, it definitely contributed. This could vary depending on individual skin types and conditions, so I'd recommend testing it yourself. Adding an update as the seasons change: While it was great for summer use, as the weather turned colder and drier, it couldn't quite handle the flaky dead skin cells or the tight, dry feeling. This product seems to be weather-dependent. I'd recommend it for hot, sweaty summer days. Now, I only use it before bed, not for going out. One more thing! When used with mineral sunscreen, it tends to pill and separate. It seems to mix well with richer creams, adhering nicely even when applied after them. But with this cream, if you apply sunscreen over it, they don't blend well, making it a bit tricky to get good skin adhesion. - Hwahae UserOily SkinApr 3, 2018
As a lucky winner of The Hwahae Testers, here's my honest review. 1. Texture/Application Being a hydrating cream, it's quite lightweight. The bouncy texture makes it enjoyable to apply on the skin. The cream glides on gently without irritation. It's so gentle that I even applied it to my neck throughout the testing period. Moreover, it spreads thinly, allowing for easy reapplication without feeling heavy. 2. Hydration As expected from a hydrating cream, it provides ample moisture. You can feel an instant boost of hydration as it absorbs into the skin. 3. Ingredients As shown in Hwahae's ingredient analysis, the absence of harmful ingredients is perhaps its biggest advantage. Overall, it's a pretty decent hydrating cream with minimal chemical irritation from its ingredients and minimal physical irritation from its application. 1. Adjustment period needed During the initial days of testing, I almost stopped using it due to some irritation. However, after about four days, my skin adapted and I was able to use the product comfortably. Those with sensitive skin should carefully check the ingredients. 2. Recommended for summer use on dehydrated oily skin My skin tends to be dehydrated. Using this product during the somewhat dry transitional season, I experienced some deep dryness. As the weather got warmer, the feeling of dryness decreased, but I still felt the need to reapply at night. It might work well on its own in summer. However, for other seasons, it's advisable to either boost your skincare routine with more hydrating products before this one, or layer a richer cream on top for added moisture. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 3, 2018
This review is based on my experience as one of The Hwahae Testers! I have oily skin but with some deep dryness. Here's my take: 1. Application It applies and absorbs like a hydrating moisturizer! However, the hydration level isn't quite as intense as a typical moisturizer. 2. Moisturizing Moisturizing? It feels more like applying an essence for oily skin rather than a cream. It's like using a cream with an essence-like texture. Unfortunately, it's not very moisturizing. 3. Finish The finish is what I liked best! It seems perfect for oily skin in summer! However, for a cream, the lasting moisturization is quite disappointing. 4. I layered a thin coat of oil for oily skin or a more moisturizing cream on top of this, and that worked much better for me! 1. Even though it's meant for oily skin, it becomes too dry over time. You know that feeling when your skin gets so dry it looks slightly cracked and wrinkled? It's not severe, but it's noticeably dry. This works wonders on lips! If you apply this and then add a very thin layer of Vaseline on top, you'll wake up with incredibly soft lips the next day! - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinApr 3, 2018
★The Hwahae Testers Review★ 1. Product Description - A hydration bomb recipe full of moisture and nourishment Dual-functional for brightening and anti-wrinkle 70ml, includes spatula 2. Application As someone with oily but dehydrated skin, a 'face oil + cream' combination is essential for me. For the Hwahae Testers review, I tried applying just the cream without face oil, and the application is very smooth. I dislike thick textures, but this felt like applying hand cream - very pleasant. 3. Absorption Perhaps because it's not a thick type, it absorbs well. It seemed to absorb quickly even without patting it in. 4. Brightening and Anti-wrinkle Functions The product contains 'niacinamide and adenosine', which are said to have brightening and anti-wrinkle properties respectively. 5. No Harmful Ingredients According to the Hwahae app, there are no dangerous ingredients. As I have sensitive skin, I always check ingredients before choosing products, and I'm pleased with this. 1. Moisturizing Power It's not sufficient as a moisturizing cream. My combination dehydrated skin feels too dry... It absorbs so well that it feels like my skin dries out quickly. ☞ So, I'd recommend this for dry or oily skin types who want to manage both brightening and anti-wrinkle concerns simultaneously. 2. Tingling & Burning Sensation + Itching, Blemishes ...I'm not the only one experiencing this, based on other reviews. I wondered why this happens despite the good ingredients, and after some research, I think it might be due to the 'niacinamide' (just a guess). I'll write more about the information I found in the tips section below. ☞ Niacinamide content above 2% can help with brightening, but pregnant women should be cautious. The percentage of niacinamide in this product isn't specified. If it could have adverse effects, it would be nice to have a clear warning on the packaging. (In bold, easily noticeable text.) I personally think these small details create a positive image for cosmetic brands and their products. + It was fine for the first few days, but 2-3 days ago, my left cheek started itching and I seem to be getting small bumps all over my face. Those with sensitive skin might want to avoid this... The ingredients are good, but it seems my skin just doesn't agree with this product... It's a shame, as this functional product is something I'd like to use long-term if it suited my skin. ★Niacinamide ☞ 1. Refers to water-soluble vitamin B3, which exists in two forms: niacin and its derivative, niacinamide. It's used as a food additive, and in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals for acne improvement, skin hydration, anti-aging, and treating rosacea. 2. In cosmetics, it's used from 0.001% to 5%, with 2% or more qualifying for brightening certification, up to a maximum of 5%. 3. The brightening principle of niacinamide is to inhibit the movement of produced pigments to the skin surface, essentially preventing melanin transfer to maintain clear skin. (Simply put, when our skin produces melanin cells, they typically transfer to the outermost layer. Niacinamide works by reducing this melanin transfer, thus inhibiting increased pigmentation on the skin surface) 4. It's also effective for hydration by increasing ceramides that prevent skin loss, and has anti-inflammatory effects good for acne. It also promotes collagen secretion for improved elasticity, and stimulates microcirculation, increasing blood flow, which is why it's used in anti-hair loss shampoos. ☞ However, pregnant or nursing mothers should avoid it. Niacinamide has a small molecular weight, so it can be transferred to the fetus quickly and in large amounts. ☞ While sunscreen blocks UV rays that produce melanin, brightening cosmetics inhibit the pigmentation of already produced melanin. They don't actually break down existing melanin to whiten the skin, as commonly thought. Professor Kim Eun-gi of Inha University's Department of Biological Engineering and Chemistry says, 'Developing a substance that selectively destroys only the polymer melanin is realistically difficult,' 'Brightening effects can be achieved by removing skin cells with melanin and regenerating new skin cells.' Therefore, sunscreen that blocks UV rays at the earliest stage is most effective. ☞ When using high-concentration niacinamide products, you may feel a warming sensation. This can be due to niacinamide's blood vessel dilating effect, or possibly due to residual niacin from the synthesis process. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 3, 2018
As someone with combination dehydrated skin and acne-prone oily skin, I really appreciated that this cream wasn't sticky at all. That's a huge plus! It seems like an excellent choice for those with very oily skin. However, due to its lack of rich texture, even as someone with oily skin, I felt a deep dryness. This was particularly noticeable on the edges of my face and forehead area, which felt extremely tight. I found that gently patting it in and applying multiple layers helped alleviate the tightness. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
I'm writing this review as a first-time winner of The Hwahae Testers program. I used the product for 11 days, from March 22nd to April 1st. I kept my usual skincare routine, only switching out the cream. My skin is combination dehydrated with occasional blemishes on my cheeks and chin, and slight redness on my cheeks. First off, I was delighted to see the product box wrapped in bubble wrap and even included a compact mirror! There was also a sample for patch testing without opening the full-size product. If you have super sensitive skin, I recommend trying a sample first (I'll explain why in the cons section). The product seemed larger than I expected when applying it. Later, I realized it's a generous 70ml! Even after enthusiastic use, it barely seemed to decrease. Texture and Absorption: The texture is fantastic. Despite its name suggesting a simple moisturizer, it actually offers brightening and anti-aging benefits. However, it doesn't have that typical thick feel of brightening creams. It feels like applying a hydrating moisturizer. I used the included spatula to apply generous layers, and it spread evenly without pilling, even with repeated application. Moisturizing Effect: After applying, I didn't notice any surface dryness. It feels like it creates a protective layer on the skin, but without feeling greasy or sticky. It's hard to describe, but it's like a thin, protective oil layer that feels bouncy to the touch. Deep Dryness: While the surface felt protected and smooth, I noticed some dryness deeper in the skin. I wouldn't recommend this for those with very dry skin. It feels like it provides surface hydration to prevent further moisture loss. If you have dry skin, I'd suggest using your regular moisturizer underneath this cream. Sensitive Skin: There's a slight warming sensation after application. It's not excessive or painful, but it might vary from person to person. If you have super sensitive skin, try a sample first or perhaps avoid it. I have sensitive skin but didn't experience any unpleasant reactions or blemishes, so I continued using it and plan to keep doing so. It's a generous size with a reasonable price and skin-friendly ingredients. The pros seem to outweigh the cons for this product. I plan to layer it over my current cream. I've included product photos and before/after application pictures. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 31, 2018
‼️The Hwahae Testers review‼️ Looking at the ingredients, there are no harmful substances, and it feels gentle when applying! I have combination dehydrated skin, and I think this is a light moisturizer that would be better for summer rather than the changing seasons like now. Not only does it provide hydration, but it also has anti-wrinkle and brightening functions. Update 180425: After using This Is Real pad to cleanse my face once, I've been applying this cream generously for a month... My skin has improved so much! Since I tend to have oily skin, applying it generously doesn't make my skin feel dry. The tingling sensation has also gradually disappeared... The amount is surprisingly generous, so it lasts a long time. My skin's appearance has improved! I'm not sure if it's the brightening function that's causing issues... It stings a lot when applied to areas with blemishes. And it's like, how should I put it, it feels like it's waking up dormant blemishes under the skin? I'm not sure if using it long-term would be beneficial by bringing all the blemishes to the surface, but with short-term use, it just feels like a moisturizer that makes blemishes appear. I'll write another review after finishing the whole container. Also, it's drying. If I apply it once before bed, my skin feels dry. I need to apply it at least twice before going to sleep... - Hwahae UserOily SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinMar 28, 2018
⭐️The Hwahae Testers Review⭐️ I was so excited that I tested it on the back of my hand as soon as I received the product! Since I was outside and it was cold, it felt like sorbet. Although it's a cream formula, it's fascinating how it melts like water as soon as it touches your skin! At first, I thought I might have applied too much, but it quickly transformed into a hydrating sensation without feeling oily! I applied this product alone after my toner, and after a while, I felt just a tiny bit of tightness. However, I liked that it wasn't oily! I used it morning and night, and it feels like a product you can apply without any burden. I can't say whether this product caused more blemishes when my skin wasn't in good condition, but for me, it was just fine! The texture is lighter than I expected, so it might be better to use when it gets hotter! It was a bit drying for me. Also, when I first applied it, I felt a stinging sensation, perhaps because it didn't suit my skin. Even now, I still feel that slight stinging sensation. It might be good to apply it in two layers! It doesn't have a thick cream feeling at all! It's a lightweight moisturizer! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 26, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers! - When I apply this before my makeup in the morning and then put on my base, my skin feels powder-fresh without any oiliness! It has just the right amount of richness for my combination dehydrated skin, which I love. - The ingredients are great, so I felt confident using it. When I actually used it, it suited my skin well without causing any blemishes. If only it didn't tingle, I'd love to slather it on generously before bed... - It stings when I apply it... I thought maybe my skin was just super sensitive, but looking at other reviews, many people mentioned the tingling sensation. It especially stings around my mouth and on areas with blemishes! - It feels like there's a slight film on my skin? But it's not as hydrating as I expected. When I finish my nighttime skincare routine with this and go to sleep, my face feels a bit dry in the morning. However, it's great for applying before makeup in the morning without feeling heavy! Since I haven't been using it for long, I'm not sure about its brightening effects yet... I think I'll need to use it more to see!
