I personally find that it absorbs well and has a nice texture. The scent is also fairly pleasant. I notice a slight tingling sensation that comes and goes. This is just my subjective experience though. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 5, 2018
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers. When I first received the cream and tested it on my hand, I was immediately impressed by how it absorbs well, leaving my skin feeling hydrated without any stickiness, and finishing with a soft, matte feel. When I applied it to my face, I was pleased that it didn't cause any blemishes, especially since I have sensitive, combination skin. Unlike my previous creams that often left my skin oily, this one noticeably reduced excess oil while still providing hydration. I was amazed that it didn't cause any pilling when used as a base before makeup, allowing my foundation to apply smoothly. Although I got to try this through The Hwahae Testers program, I'm genuinely enjoying it more than I expected and will continue using it. As for downsides, I can't think of any yet, which is why I've only shared all the positives in detail. - Hwahae UserOily SkinApr 3, 2018
As a lucky winner of The Hwahae Testers, here's my honest review. 1. Texture/Application Being a hydrating cream, it's quite lightweight. The bouncy texture makes it enjoyable to apply on the skin. The cream glides on gently without irritation. It's so gentle that I even applied it to my neck throughout the testing period. Moreover, it spreads thinly, allowing for easy reapplication without feeling heavy. 2. Hydration As expected from a hydrating cream, it provides ample moisture. You can feel an instant boost of hydration as it absorbs into the skin. 3. Ingredients As shown in Hwahae's ingredient analysis, the absence of harmful ingredients is perhaps its biggest advantage. Overall, it's a pretty decent hydrating cream with minimal chemical irritation from its ingredients and minimal physical irritation from its application. 1. Adjustment period needed During the initial days of testing, I almost stopped using it due to some irritation. However, after about four days, my skin adapted and I was able to use the product comfortably. Those with sensitive skin should carefully check the ingredients. 2. Recommended for summer use on dehydrated oily skin My skin tends to be dehydrated. Using this product during the somewhat dry transitional season, I experienced some deep dryness. As the weather got warmer, the feeling of dryness decreased, but I still felt the need to reapply at night. It might work well on its own in summer. However, for other seasons, it's advisable to either boost your skincare routine with more hydrating products before this one, or layer a richer cream on top for added moisture. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinApr 3, 2018
★The Hwahae Testers Review★ 1. Product Description - A hydration bomb recipe full of moisture and nourishment Dual-functional for brightening and anti-wrinkle 70ml, includes spatula 2. Application As someone with oily but dehydrated skin, a 'face oil + cream' combination is essential for me. For the Hwahae Testers review, I tried applying just the cream without face oil, and the application is very smooth. I dislike thick textures, but this felt like applying hand cream - very pleasant. 3. Absorption Perhaps because it's not a thick type, it absorbs well. It seemed to absorb quickly even without patting it in. 4. Brightening and Anti-wrinkle Functions The product contains 'niacinamide and adenosine', which are said to have brightening and anti-wrinkle properties respectively. 5. No Harmful Ingredients According to the Hwahae app, there are no dangerous ingredients. As I have sensitive skin, I always check ingredients before choosing products, and I'm pleased with this. 1. Moisturizing Power It's not sufficient as a moisturizing cream. My combination dehydrated skin feels too dry... It absorbs so well that it feels like my skin dries out quickly. ☞ So, I'd recommend this for dry or oily skin types who want to manage both brightening and anti-wrinkle concerns simultaneously. 2. Tingling & Burning Sensation + Itching, Blemishes ...I'm not the only one experiencing this, based on other reviews. I wondered why this happens despite the good ingredients, and after some research, I think it might be due to the 'niacinamide' (just a guess). I'll write more about the information I found in the tips section below. ☞ Niacinamide content above 2% can help with brightening, but pregnant women should be cautious. The percentage of niacinamide in this product isn't specified. If it could have adverse effects, it would be nice to have a clear warning on the packaging. (In bold, easily noticeable text.) I personally think these small details create a positive image for cosmetic brands and their products. + It was fine for the first few days, but 2-3 days ago, my left cheek started itching and I seem to be getting small bumps all over my face. Those with sensitive skin might want to avoid this... The ingredients are good, but it seems my skin just doesn't agree with this product... It's a shame, as this functional product is something I'd like to use long-term if it suited my skin. ★Niacinamide ☞ 1. Refers to water-soluble vitamin B3, which exists in two forms: niacin and its derivative, niacinamide. It's used as a food additive, and in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals for acne improvement, skin hydration, anti-aging, and treating rosacea. 2. In cosmetics, it's used from 0.001% to 5%, with 2% or more qualifying for brightening certification, up to a maximum of 5%. 3. The brightening principle of niacinamide is to inhibit the movement of produced pigments to the skin surface, essentially preventing melanin transfer to maintain clear skin. (Simply put, when our skin produces melanin cells, they typically transfer to the outermost layer. Niacinamide works by reducing this melanin transfer, thus inhibiting increased pigmentation on the skin surface) 4. It's also effective for hydration by increasing ceramides that prevent skin loss, and has anti-inflammatory effects good for acne. It also promotes collagen secretion for improved elasticity, and stimulates microcirculation, increasing blood flow, which is why it's used in anti-hair loss shampoos. ☞ However, pregnant or nursing mothers should avoid it. Niacinamide has a small molecular weight, so it can be transferred to the fetus quickly and in large amounts. ☞ While sunscreen blocks UV rays that produce melanin, brightening cosmetics inhibit the pigmentation of already produced melanin. They don't actually break down existing melanin to whiten the skin, as commonly thought. Professor Kim Eun-gi of Inha University's Department of Biological Engineering and Chemistry says, 'Developing a substance that selectively destroys only the polymer melanin is realistically difficult,' 'Brightening effects can be achieved by removing skin cells with melanin and regenerating new skin cells.' Therefore, sunscreen that blocks UV rays at the earliest stage is most effective. ☞ When using high-concentration niacinamide products, you may feel a warming sensation. This can be due to niacinamide's blood vessel dilating effect, or possibly due to residual niacin from the synthesis process. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinApr 3, 2018
This is a review from The Hwahae Testers! I was so excited to win this when I needed a hydrating cream! The ingredients are gentle, which made me even more eager to try it. First, my skin is oily and I occasionally get blemishes every two weeks. My skin used to be good, but after a breakout, I have a lot of acne scars on both cheeks. I used the cream for two weeks, morning and night. I applied a generous amount in the evening and a smaller amount in the morning. - Chayote Cream It applies smoothly and absorbs well. After it fully absorbed, I noticed a slight oiliness on the surface, which gave my skin a subtle glow. However, it didn't feel sticky or cause excess oil production (even after some time, it didn't produce more oil). The texture is quite unique! When you scoop it out with a spatula, it holds its shape without spreading - kind of like pudding! It feels like it has a slight coating. When you spread it with your fingers, it glides on smoothly. The moisturizing effect was average. Rather than feeling like my skin was drenched in hydration, it seemed to excel more at preventing dryness. As someone with oily skin, I prefer a fresh feeling, and this product had a texture that was neither light nor heavy. I usually like to keep my skincare products in the fridge for a cooling effect, but with this one, the coolness disappeared quickly upon application, which was a bit disappointing. It's fragrance-free, so those sensitive to scents can use it without worry! Blemishes! This is the most important part for me. As I mentioned earlier, I'm sensitive to ingredients due to a past breakout. During the two weeks of using it morning and night, I only got one blemish! But this seemed more likely due to recent fine dust and yellow dust, not the product. I never experienced any itching, redness, stinging, or skin irritation while using it. - Overall For my oily skin, it would have been even better if it was a bit more refreshing with more hydration! However, I highly recommend it because it's gentle on the skin and has good ingredients. I think it might be even more suitable for dry or combination skin! For my oily skin, using too much made the surface a bit oily! So I used plenty at night and a moderate amount in the morning! When I woke up, my face felt slightly oily! So adjust the amount based on your skin type, and you definitely won't experience excessive oiliness. Personally, I wished it was a bit lighter with more hydration! Aside from the points mentioned above, I was generally satisfied, so I don't have any other complaints! My skin felt comfortable throughout the entire time I used it. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinSensitive SkinApr 2, 2018
[The Hwahae Testers Review] As someone with combination dehydrated skin and contact dermatitis that's extremely vulnerable to irritation, I was initially concerned. Even with products claiming zero harmful ingredients, my face would often react badly if there were unusual base ingredients. However, I've come to realize that Cha Yote is actually a gentle ingredient with high moisture content - truly skin-friendly. Its texture is lighter than most moisturizers, absorbs well, and applies smoothly without causing makeup to pill. While there's a slight drying sensation a few minutes after application, I actually prefer this current formulation. Adding film-forming agents or oils to combat this would likely irritate my skin. Most importantly, it doesn't cause any irritation, making it highly suitable for sensitive skin. I'm particularly impressed that it offers anti-wrinkle and brightening benefits without causing irritation. I plan to continue using it, as this level of hydration is perfect for my face during spring and summer. There doesn't seem to be any downsides other than the slight dryness. It seems to pair wonderfully with CHA:LAB ampoules or La Roche-Posay Cicaplast. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinApr 2, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers! - The cream's texture feels like a moisturizing velvet! It applies with a soft, powdery finish while seeming to release the hydration it holds. - The product description mentioned brightening effects due to vitamin content, and I really think it's true! - I wasn't familiar with chayote, so I looked it up. It turns out it has fatigue-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties! I'm not sure if these effects are only when consumed or if they benefit the skin too, but it seems to have anti-inflammatory effects! I would apply this moisturizer as the last step of my nighttime skincare routine, or sometimes just use this alone when I felt lazy. I have combination dehydrated skin and tend to get blemishes even without doing anything special, but the frequency definitely decreased! I also noticed that when I applied it to areas with blemishes, they seemed to heal faster! - The powdery finish makes it great for those with oily skin! - Another interesting fact about chayote is that it has cooling properties! Not sure if this applies to topical use, but even when stored at room temperature, applying this cream gives a cooling sensation similar to using a cooling cream! - In contrast to the last point in the pros, it doesn't keep dry skin moisturized until morning if applied at night. - The fragrance-free aspect is both a pro and a con, but leans slightly more towards being a con. - When first applying, it stung and caused a burning sensation. Many other reviews mentioned the stinging too, not sure why this happens... If it's part of the process that leads to the anti-inflammatory effect, then I'll gratefully accept the discomfort. - There's no handle on the inner lid, so you have to use your nails to remove it from the container, which is a bit inconvenient. - As someone with oily skin, applying rich creams at night can be disastrous by morning, but this cream didn't cause that issue! If you have oily skin, I recommend trying this at night! For a fresh, matte face the next day! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
Here's a review from The Hwahae Testers: This is a jar-type moisturizer that comes with a small spatula. The cream is a nearly white, opaque color with a lightweight texture. It's very smooth, making it easy to apply, and doesn't pill at all. (I tend to pat all products into my skin.) I was using the Beyond moisturizer before, but compared to that, this one has a nice, velvety feel on the skin. When patting it in, it doesn't feel completely watery, but rather like a moisturizer with a drop of oil mixed in - there's a slight richness to it. Even when I layered it twice, it didn't feel heavy on my skin. I appreciated that it's fragrance-free. If you smell closely, there's a very faint scent, but it's just the typical smell you get from skincare products without added fragrances. It's not overwhelming at all when applying, which is great. I checked on the Hwahae app and confirmed there were no harmful ingredients, so I used it with peace of mind. Throughout the usage period, I didn't experience any blemishes from this product! It really seems like a very gentle moisturizer. As I mentioned earlier about the texture, it's not a moisturizer that absorbs completely like water. It leaves a very thin oily film on the skin at the end. It's not enough to clog pores or cause blemishes, and it does help prevent moisture from evaporating quickly. While I don't completely dislike it, I did find the slight oily feeling left on my palms and lips after application a bit bothersome. However, it does become more matte as time passes and it absorbs! When I tried applying just this product in two layers after cleansing, without using any other products, I felt dry after a while. But that might be expected since I usually use an exfoliating toner, then do the 7-skin method, followed by a moisturizer and a cica cream... The results may vary depending on your skin condition. I'm not sure how it would work for those who usually find a single moisturizer sufficient. I think this product fulfills its role as a moisturizer well and is good for use without causing irritation or blemishes. It would be great if it goes on sale more often! - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinApr 1, 2018
The Hwahae Testers review here! I had just run out of my moisturizer and was about to buy a new one when, perfect timing! I won the Chayote Cream! Thank you so much! Here's my review after using it for a week~ 1. Absorbs like a dream The cream's texture is between a gel and a balm. It absorbs really well. It sinks into the skin without leaving any residue. As a result, the finish is light and fresh. Since there's no pilling, you can layer it on when your skin feels extra dry. 2. Balanced oil and moisture While it's a moisturizer, it's not overly hydrating. The oil and moisture balance is just right. My usual skincare routine is toner - ampoule (or essence) - moisturizer. But with this product, I could just use an exfoliating toner and finish with this cream, and my skin didn't feel dry at all. It seems perfect for the upcoming summer too. (✅ I looked up Chayote fruit as it was an unfamiliar ingredient. It's a tropical crop with very high water content.) 1. Hydration? Lower lasting power than expected The Chayote Cream box introduces the product with words like 'water bomb', 'moisturizing', and 'hydration explosion recipe'. It also mentions the addition of functional ingredients like 'niacinamide' and 'adenosine'. In reality, this product could be described as a decent cream with a balanced oil-moisture ratio, but I'm not sure about its superior hydrating power. It feels quite moisturizing when applied, but that feeling doesn't last very long. Given that they've highlighted the water-rich Chayote as the main ingredient, I expected outstanding hydration and long-lasting effects. This aspect was a bit disappointing. As for its functional benefits, I think I'll need to use it for a longer period to see the results, so I plan to keep using it consistently. 2. Potential for irritation When I first tested the sample, I felt a slight tingling sensation. I wondered if it was due to the ingredients, so I gradually applied it to let my skin adapt, and it was fine after that. Although they claim it's made with gentle ingredients safe for sensitive skin, it seems it can still cause irritation when the skin is particularly sensitive. Also, it contains yeast and fermented extracts. If fermented extracts don't agree with your skin, you might want to skip this product. I tend to have very dry lips with dead skin cells, but I found a solution! In the evening, I gently pat some of this moisturizer on my lips, wait a few minutes, then lightly wipe it off with a cotton pad. It leaves my lips feeling smooth! Sometimes I use it as a sleeping pack just for my lips, applying a small amount before bed. When I wake up, my lips are free of dead skin cells and feel perfectly maintained. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 31, 2018
Absorption: It's incredibly smooth. At first, I thought it was oil, but it turned out to be hydration. I love that it's not sticky after application. Moisture level: It's quite high. The texture feels a bit heavy, but it's not due to oil - it's because of the moisture content. I felt my skin was hydrated until I fell asleep. Scent: Fragrance-free - A little goes a long way, so it lasts a long time. - Recommended for: Oily and dry skin types. It's great for oily skin because it balances oil and moisture, helping with excess sebum. For dry skin, it provides the much-needed hydration. - For the first two days of use, I woke up with almost no sebum production. However, as my skin adapted, I noticed a slight increase in oil. Still, it's less oily compared to other products. - Skin reaction: I judge products based on whether they cause skin issues (since I have sensitive skin that reacts quickly). After application, I didn't experience any acne breakouts or redness. Instead, it helped combat dryness, which was great. There's a slight tingling sensation after use, but it's not severe. The green part of the lid seems to peel off easily. If it gets into the product... The overall quality of the container could be improved.
